overall i think she is more successful then sephiroth , i mean jeah she didnt throw a meteor, but the meteor didnt kill anyone and she ruled over the world and terrorized it for a while ^^ What ultimecia lacked was a real endgame, its nice to know afterwards that she was always there just as edea but she lacks a endgame. The endgoal she had was fine for the 90s "rule everything"

@@RHH7288 If you spent a good portion of the game drawing from enemies until your spells are at 100, and junction up all your stats, it's a breeze. If you don't, yeah she can be pretty rough. They released a remastered version where you can increase combat speed 3x for much quicker grinding
I hope if they eventually do it, they'll fix some issues with its story which were due to the short development time. Give Ultimecia a reason for doing the "Kompression". I'd make her be somewhat like Squall, if Squall never changed and kept everyone always away from him, and at the end she realized she screwed up her entire life and that's why she wants to destroy time. It'd be interesting to find Ultimecia's Diary and by reading it Squall recognizes that he would screw up his own life if he does not changes his attitude. Or something like that.

Im currently making the next DnD session for my friends, its an abandoned mansion with lots of Resident Evil like puzzles and traps around. Guess I know which music to play in there hehe.
This sounds a lot more powerful than the original, perfectly representing Ultimecia's power, will and dedication to struggle against her fate. Uematsu's original is less dynamic and makes me think more of Ultimecia's true self and how she experiences isolation and loneliness within her own castle for who knows how many decades.
That beginning is just straight out of Castlevania, love it Wondered why you started with the organs but then the chorus played and I was like "oh ok" and its awesome Tho imo I think the drums dont go well with the chorus.. I think it wouldve been more ominous without the drums in that part. Also the melody transition is a bit off but generally speaking its a good remix that'd fit an ff8 remake

Let me give you a sincere critics for this remake as a hardcore fan of FF8. Your remake version is great on its own way, more modernized style. However, it lost some of the authentic essence of this song. This theme represents a mysterious atmosphere, with a little charm, kinda feel both attractive and dangerous at the same time. Your background noise is a little overwhelming the main keys, and by adding more vocal parts, it now feels more intense, which is not quite suitable, the castle is not a massive battlefield, its a lair full of dangers but the dangers are lurking around, not reveal themselves yet. Also as hardcore ff8 fan, with this song being one of my favorite tracks, I am forced to agree with this opinion. This theme would fit as a battle theme inspired by the dungeon theme. As if you ran into some sort of "Castle Guard" mini boss who appear as glorified chess pisces before moving forward into the final battle sequences. That being said, this should be best called personal interpretation of the theme rather than a remake or a modernized arrangement. (We both must sound like pricks but, tis not a lie)
It's a nice take on the theme. Sure it lost its original feel, but it's still a lovely remix. I don't think it's a fair criticism unless the creator of the remix intended this remix to have close to the feel of the original. I don't think he was going for that.
I don't think the choir works, Ultimecia was desperately lonely. The original was meant to feel desolate, so those empty spaces in it served a purpose and don't need to be filled out. To me this song was about her and her insanity building over centuries, an obsession with time, death, loneliness, leading to this grand idea of time compression. A single voice might work instead of the choir with less of the space filled in with bassy stuff
