BeamNG Drive. Not really racing oriented but some of the most realistic vehicle handling physics I've seen. EDIT: I'm starting to wonder if all the people responding "the handling is nothing like real life" have ever actually driven a real car. Also, I'm still getting responses a year later
The handling is not realistic at all, the cars are too slidy, the destruction is the good part. I hate it when people say driving physics are good in Beam because they really aren't
I mean, real racing teams probably spend 7 figures + on their simulators. But for home use I'd expect not much over $30-$40k considering the most expensive motion rigs are only about $25-$30k

It was for GT sport on PS4 but I can't change fov. So I moved to my PC and got AC but my monitor is only 24" 1440p so the fov is super claustrophobic even when I put it right behind the wheel. yes but the expensive part of doing it in real life isn't the car itself, it's tires, maintenance, track time, replacing broken parts(absolutely unavoidable), gas, injuries in case of a crash wich is very common specially starting, fines and legal backlash if you want to do it in the streets, risk of injuring or killing other people, risk of injuring or killing yourself, damage to property, and the list goes on and on, if i could drive in real life like i do on forza everyday for 100k god knows i would pay it and never get off my car ever again

It's closer to a sim anyway. The handling is definitely different between the two games. I actually like some things about 4 better, after playing it a while.
totally agree dirt rally is a sim rally game that you can play with a joystick really good you can buy a logitech f310 or a f710 wirless and you are set
DIrt 4 is a huge step up from Dirt 3, but I do agree it's not quite to the same level as Dirt Rally 1 and 2 and there's people who will argue neither of those are as good as Richard Burns Rally with NGP mods. I personally love the Dirt Rally games because of the total immersive package of better graphics and sound design to go with the physics, but RBR is still a great game to keep installed on a sim-racers hard drive (especially if you have a VR headset).
TheShadowSplicer For stage rally on loose surfaces, I agree, but I'm rallycross or any tarmac driving, dirt 4 handles much better. The cars in dirt rally never handle well on tarmac, even though Monaco stages are arguable the most fun :P
Asseto Corsa, iRacing, ProjectCars2, RFactor2, Dirt Rally, Automobilista, RaceRoom Racing Experience, GTR2, Richard Burns Rally, Live for Speed. Those are sims. GT sport is a great game but not a sim, same goes for Forza. Dirt 4 is a shit game and also not a sim.
@@owenrivard8832 depends on what you want. PCARS 2 is the best racing sim with changing weather, day/night shifts, a fun campaign mode and competent AI. Assetto Corsa is the best driving sim with a ffb and physics model unmatched on console. Ffb on pcars 2 is a bit hit and miss imho. There is some amazing racing to be had in Assetto Corsa in league play. PCARs 2 MP is a bit better due to rating system but at least on pc, outside of league racing mp is dead.
Damnit, back in the day us forza players could set down GT fanboys by calling out how shitty their engine sounds were, but now looking at FH4 & FM7’s sounds makes me feel like I’m playing GT6
Forza developers really need to wake up and turn Motorsport into a much more serious sim (based on it's current state). They have Horizon to appeal to car fans and they should use motorsport to appeal to its motorsport fans. Grand Turismo is only to going to get even better with the next iteration as well.
Thats because u were paying for less cars, every 6 months when a new Forza was to come out XD I mean they released 3 forza games while i was still having an absolute blast playing gt6 online lobbies - i thought itd never end :D
One time I ran a 15 minute stage in Richard Burns Rally, and around minute seven, I had a hard hit, causing me to lose my brakes. Finishing that stage without any brakes is still one of the favorite achievements I've had in any Sim!
mustangcallum studios because you need to have the right speed.. if u play with a controller ur gonna lock the wheels because of the sudden direction change that makes you go straight. Get good controller setup and be gentle with the wheel and the car will turn :)
@@brikbrak9386 I use the Ferrari spyder wheel and no matter how I turn it does it I slow right down or speed obviously speed won't work and locking the wheel is obviously causing oversteer to early it never works
yeah, so what? at least they are in the game. Just do with what you can and plan out your garage, thats what I do. No more just collecting cars just to collect them. To me it keeps things interesting by limiting the amount of people with god mode level cars..cough cough Mclaren f1 gt(r?)
Horace Reid getting cars via career mode is fine, it's a good way to get players engaged in your game. There are various cars though that after you miss an event you will never get them again. Say somebody gets the game today, they have missed several rivals events and they will never get that car. (Ford RS1800, 2016 Chevy Camaro, ect.) If you didn't sign up for a specific Porsche cup event then you will never get the 911 GT3 from 2016. That is what I have a problem with.
Im personally a die hard Forza fan with all of the games under the sun atm. Played GT5/6 also and debating on a ps4 pro for Sport (probably pick up a G29 while im at it. GTR2/LFS. NFS Shift series (yes it sim-arcade-ish). rFactor1 back in the day. All racing games have their pros and cons. Its best to treat them equally imho. Staying narrow minded wont get far in life. Definitely learned the hard way of that.
i prefer GT over Forza because i grew up with Sony consoles and all GT games on all of them, my favorite racing game being GT4 i think, haven't played Forza but i would love to try FM and FH, not a fanboy, i just love racing games in general, arcade, sims or in-between, but like everyone i have my preferences, funny thing is, i actually prefer rFactor 1 because of how fun that game is with the shit ton of mods it has, i don't usually play online to not say i never do, but just doing timetrails or roaming alone on a track is a hell of a blast for me
I used to be all about Forza and absolutely loved it and can never understand why people talk crap about it and then I got a racing simulator chair with steering wheel and shifter and I learned why people complain it is god-awful with a steering wheel witch is sad because I really really love Forza
Kyle Novak I wouldn’t say forza is bad with a wheel. When I got mine, ya there was a learning curve that I’m still getting used to, but overall it improves the experience for me.
Zecrid Its definetly an amazing game, but the handling isnt perfect, but it is getting improved, so it might become the most realistic racing game in the world
GUMBA The handling gets better once you realize it doesn't have a high speed steering lock-out. Aka going 150mph and want to turn? The game will put them at the max turn as if you were parking. So you end up plowing forward like crazy. The answer is to steering less and that end up actually turning. But there are definitely improvements to be made.
Zecrid You can actually turn on an option which reduces steering at high speeds, but the problem with it now is that if you ever lose control of the car at high speed you just cant recover because the steering is still limited to 10%
so i told my buddies i spent a good $400 on my racing setup, logitech g29 and wheel standpro and games, and they literally think i'm insane, but they don't understand how much fun it actually is, and they aren't car people so there is the answer

I was playing that one the other day using dolphin emulator. Controlling and steering the car is so bizarre. It was my first time playing the game and I really couldn't understand why the game was praised back in the day. The best racing game on GameCube, imo, is Burnout 2.
I’m a pro racecar driver and it’s true when he says iracing is insane. I use it to train everyday and it’s help me keep noticeably sharp and more on the edge. It’s truly not a joke.
thats the problem its too serious :) i went up to A and stopped there is it was to time consuming to get anywhere, was too slow for the top and too fast for the rest. :D
I play Assetto Corsa cause of the modding abilities and the Touges, and the 3-wheel pile up was such a good way to describe it. I absolutely could not stop laughing, I love the choice of clip.
Gran Turismo 4 added auto save which i felt kind of ruined it a little for me. In 3 I could buy a car, max it out and if I didnt like it I could reset the ps2 and try a different car out. That feature saved me a lot of expensive mistakes.
@@jeffreymiller3295 You can actually disable the autosave in GT4. All you need to do is go to the Options, select Misc in Miscellaneous category, go to Autosave, select Restricted, then OK.

It is very much worth it - especially at the $400 price point. You just have to have a computer that can handle VR - I lucked out and already had one. Now I'm saving up for a fanatec wheel and peddle set.
I have countless hours in project cars 2 and Asetto Corsa. I like the immersion in Pcars2 more than AC, but I like the actual handling characteristics of AC more

Assetto Corsa has open world mod maps and they are sick. Go in an online server and cruise and you will find yourself in essentially a FH4 but with a more sim like feel to it. Its really fun
For me, iRacing is the best Sim I have ever played. I first started out playing Forza series a while back and then started doing stuff like PCars2. After that, moved up to iRacing. I actually had tried iRacing about a year earlyer and was not ready for it clearly. However, once I picked it back up and I knew what to expect, it has been great.
I was a big fan of GT for the longest time, but please if you are going to consider GT a sim and not a simcade then you have to include Forza in that group. I personally don't consider either a sim. They are both simcades and that is okay way more fun to play and far less tedious.
I'm an iRacer, and I have played just about all the other sims (even though Dirt 4 is arcadey) and can honestly say that you guys have hit the nail on the head with iRacing. It is the MOST REALISTIC sim out there. I switched from PS4 to PC in 2017, and I DO NOT regret it. rFactor, P Cars 2, and GT Sport are great, nothing quite gets close to iRacing. The fact that iRacing Laser Scans their tracks AND cars, it adds to the experience. For ANYBODY considering getting a PC for iRacing, I HIGHLY recommend doing it. It has also helped me in real life!
WOAH HOLD UP Dirt Rally was the first to feature RallyX (licensed as well). Also, it's almost as hard-core sim as RBR. It's THE game to get if you want a modern, realistic Rally simulator. Dirt 4 is a great game but Dirt Rally is definitely more serious, realistic and demanding of your driving skills. And check out Automobilista if you're looking for a serious racing sim on the level of iRacing and rFactor 2 with great AI and some amazing cars. Racing trucks, F1 from multiple era's (60's up to modern F1), stadium trucks, V8 Supercars, some crazy British track monsters and many more cool racing cars. My favorite sim for serious offline racing.
Yeah. It may have a lot of DLC but DLC on racing sims take much much more to maker. Especially when they are laser tracked. You only need to spend like £20 to get the class types you want.

Games that I think are perfect for each category (actual sim racing games) Rally - DiRT Rally 2.0 Rallycross - DiRT Rally 2.0 Track Racing - Assetto Corsa F1 Racing - Assetto Corsa with the RSS Formula mods Best Online Racing - iRacing (although I recommend Assetto Corsa because of it's better ui, physics, mods, etc.) GT3 Racing - Assetto Corsa Competitzione
It's actually more realistic then most of the games mentioned here. But you have this stigma of it being "arcade" from people who don't know any better.
Ive been having a blast with art of rally with just standard controller, it got me into buying the g29 and i gotta say, ive been having a lot more fun with forza horizon and art of rally with a wheel and gear shifter. Im not a super fan of the sims, but the more arcady stuff is really fun for me

I started out on controller years ago until I could afford a decent set up as well, but I’m referring to the people talking shit about others’ game preferences. Like how can you really tell if something is “simulating” the driving experience on a controller when you never drive in real life with a controller? I really didn't like tony when he first started these videos. He seemed so forced and tried way too hard, but he seems to be coming into his own. I really like his vids now that he toned it way down. Keep up the good work man.
Raceroom racing experience is the way to go. New and old racing cars ( from groupA, groupe C, group 5, GT3, GT2, M1 PRO séries, formula 1, GTO, and SO much more!! Great tracks too! Different displays, great physics the game is always improving. Oh, and instead of paying 60$ for a game where you only play 4 or 5 cars, Raceroom game is free, and each car and track is about 2/3$.plus some content is already free.

I own the F1 2017, 18, 19, 20, and 21 along with need for speed payback and heat, Gran Turismo Sport, Grid, and Asseto Corsa, lol. I enjoy every last one of them.
Massive respect for the modders who made the Zastava Yugo for Richard Burns rally, not many people know, but Yugos are still widely used as the default race car basis in my country(where they were produced, after all), even to the extent that the main national circuit racing league allows only yugos made of factory Zastava parts, then additionally tweaked to take part in the race. Even though you can put all sorts of things in a yugo's shell and make it a rocket, there is the national class where they only allow clunker Zastava machinery to be tweaked and tuned to it's limits, complete with a rollcage and custom suspension and transmission to be honest, but... yeah. That's how they allow for everyone to have similar if not identical performance between cars. HELL YEAH, NATIONAL.YUGO HYBRID CLASS RACING KEEPS GOING FULL ON, as it did in 1991 and lonng before, so does it now in 2021, and so will it continue to do for some years to come 🙌
DiRT 4 is Arcade, F1 series is still Arcade, GT SPORT IS NOT A SIM LOL. You forget: RaceRoom Racing, Autmobilista. Automobilista is a rFactor 1 game engine but modern and still updated. RaceRoom is the cheaper competitor of iRacing which is waaay cheaper and it's free, just pay the DLC no subscription..
Lol, it's not a Racing simulator. just a straight racing game like Need for Speed or Forza. Racing simulator is more complicated to do then a standard racing game. You have track life, tire deformation or tire flex, fuel simulation, 24H dynamic time and weather, you can switch from rain to dry. You have Practice to Qualification to Warm up and then Race, you have a working pit stop to do. I mean. Also, breaking line, racing line need to be used to get the most grip and go faster on the track. Look at Pc2, every one said that is a simcade, but it's a Sim. From car to car, you feel the difference, the more you drive, the better grip you have, like real life. you have dirt coming from the side to the track and affect the handling by going on it. Forza and GT does not have all that stuff. sorry mate but GT and Forza are juste a standard racing game.
I really wonder for what custom races in GT Sport is... well PC2 is a sim no doubt about it, but older GT games were sims or were probably closer to a sim than GT sport is. I really dont giv a fuk. Its still a gud and fun game anyways

Toca race driver 3 is one I used to play that I never hear mention of. Which is weird because it has every type of 4 wheel racing imaginable including monster trucks, dirt track, rally, historic, so many and the crash physics are mind blowing for such an old game. Racing f1 in it really made me understand down force and the impact of loosing any peice of aero dynamic bodywork. There's wheel shimmys blown tires locked wheels broken steering. It was mind blowing in 2010ish.
More of a drift guy? Would 110% recommend either Asseto Corsa or CarX Drift. Super hard on a wheel at the start but once you get used to it, it is amazing and feels legit.

It was included because of the Rally Cross mode. You can turn all the assists off in Dirt 4, making it essentially the same as Rally.

yeah, so what? at least they are in the game. Just do with what you can and plan out your garage, thats what I do. No more just collecting cars just to collect them. To me it keeps things interesting by limiting the amount of people with god mode level cars..cough cough Mclaren f1 gt(r?)
Horace Reid getting cars via career mode is fine, it's a good way to get players engaged in your game. There are various cars though that after you miss an event you will never get them again. Say somebody gets the game today, they have missed several rivals events and they will never get that car. (Ford RS1800, 2016 Chevy Camaro, ect.) If you didn't sign up for a specific Porsche cup event then you will never get the 911 GT3 from 2016. That is what I have a problem with.

Im personally a die hard Forza fan with all of the games under the sun atm. Played GT5/6 also and debating on a ps4 pro for Sport (probably pick up a G29 while im at it. GTR2/LFS. NFS Shift series (yes it sim-arcade-ish). rFactor1 back in the day. All racing games have their pros and cons. Its best to treat them equally imho. Staying narrow minded wont get far in life. Definitely learned the hard way of that.

i prefer GT over Forza because i grew up with Sony consoles and all GT games on all of them, my favorite racing game being GT4 i think, haven't played Forza but i would love to try FM and FH, not a fanboy, i just love racing games in general, arcade, sims or in-between, but like everyone i have my preferences, funny thing is, i actually prefer rFactor 1 because of how fun that game is with the shit ton of mods it has, i don't usually play online to not say i never do, but just doing timetrails or roaming alone on a track is a hell of a blast for me

Kyle Novak I wouldn’t say forza is bad with a wheel. When I got mine, ya there was a learning curve that I’m still getting used to, but overall it improves the experience for me.
Clearly the best car game is BeamNG drive, because when racing you're going to crash a lot. and what better game to crash in than BeamNG?
Zecrid Its definetly an amazing game, but the handling isnt perfect, but it is getting improved, so it might become the most realistic racing game in the world

The handling gets better once you realize it doesn't have a high speed steering lock-out. Aka going 150mph and want to turn? The game will put them at the max turn as if you were parking. So you end up plowing forward like crazy. The answer is to steering less and that end up actually turning. But there are definitely improvements to be made.
Zecrid You can actually turn on an option which reduces steering at high speeds, but the problem with it now is that if you ever lose control of the car at high speed you just cant recover because the steering is still limited to 10%

I was playing that one the other day using dolphin emulator. Controlling and steering the car is so bizarre. It was my first time playing the game and I really couldn't understand why the game was praised back in the day. The best racing game on GameCube, imo, is Burnout 2.
I’m a pro racecar driver and it’s true when he says iracing is insane. I use it to train everyday and it’s help me keep noticeably sharp and more on the edge. It’s truly not a joke.

Gran Turismo 4 added auto save which i felt kind of ruined it a little for me. In 3 I could buy a car, max it out and if I didnt like it I could reset the ps2 and try a different car out. That feature saved me a lot of expensive mistakes.
@@jeffreymiller3295 You can actually disable the autosave in GT4. All you need to do is go to the Options, select Misc in Miscellaneous category, go to Autosave, select Restricted, then OK.

It is very much worth it - especially at the $400 price point. You just have to have a computer that can handle VR - I lucked out and already had one. Now I'm saving up for a fanatec wheel and peddle set.

Assetto Corsa has open world mod maps and they are sick. Go in an online server and cruise and you will find yourself in essentially a FH4 but with a more sim like feel to it. Its really fun

For me, iRacing is the best Sim I have ever played. I first started out playing Forza series a while back and then started doing stuff like PCars2. After that, moved up to iRacing. I actually had tried iRacing about a year earlyer and was not ready for it clearly. However, once I picked it back up and I knew what to expect, it has been great.
I was a big fan of GT for the longest time, but please if you are going to consider GT a sim and not a simcade then you have to include Forza in that group. I personally don't consider either a sim. They are both simcades and that is okay way more fun to play and far less tedious.

NASCAR Racing 2003 Season (Sierra/ Papyrus) I think it's the one that defined on-line NASCAR sim competition. Played it for over 12 years on and off.

I'm an iRacer, and I have played just about all the other sims (even though Dirt 4 is arcadey) and can honestly say that you guys have hit the nail on the head with iRacing. It is the MOST REALISTIC sim out there. I switched from PS4 to PC in 2017, and I DO NOT regret it. rFactor, P Cars 2, and GT Sport are great, nothing quite gets close to iRacing. The fact that iRacing Laser Scans their tracks AND cars, it adds to the experience. For ANYBODY considering getting a PC for iRacing, I HIGHLY recommend doing it. It has also helped me in real life!
Only downsides are that its expensive and ugly af! ;)

Dirt Rally was the first to feature RallyX (licensed as well).
Also, it's almost as hard-core sim as RBR. It's THE game to get if you want a modern, realistic Rally simulator. Dirt 4 is a great game but Dirt Rally is definitely more serious, realistic and demanding of your driving skills.
And check out Automobilista if you're looking for a serious racing sim on the level of iRacing and rFactor 2 with great AI and some amazing cars. Racing trucks, F1 from multiple era's (60's up to modern F1), stadium trucks, V8 Supercars, some crazy British track monsters and many more cool racing cars. My favorite sim for serious offline racing.

Ive been having a blast with art of rally with just standard controller, it got me into buying the g29 and i gotta say, ive been having a lot more fun with forza horizon and art of rally with a wheel and gear shifter. Im not a super fan of the sims, but the more arcady stuff is really fun for me

New and old racing cars ( from groupA, groupe C, group 5, GT3, GT2, M1 PRO séries, formula 1, GTO, and SO much more!! Great tracks too! Different displays, great physics the game is always improving.
Oh, and instead of paying 60$ for a game where you only play 4 or 5 cars, Raceroom game is free, and each car and track is about 2/3$.plus some content is already free.
A missed classic would be GTR2 for the best offline GT style racing. Also the fantastic power and glory mod of the 60s and 70s gt legends.

I think Beam NG drive is the most accurate driving sim. I learned how to drive a manual in it with my racing wheel with the clutch and h shifter.

Massive respect for the modders who made the Zastava Yugo for Richard Burns rally, not many people know, but Yugos are still widely used as the default race car basis in my country(where they were produced, after all), even to the extent that the main national circuit racing league allows only yugos made of factory Zastava parts, then additionally tweaked to take part in the race. Even though you can put all sorts of things in a yugo's shell and make it a rocket, there is the national class where they only allow clunker Zastava machinery to be tweaked and tuned to it's limits, complete with a rollcage and custom suspension and transmission to be honest, but... yeah. That's how they allow for everyone to have similar if not identical performance between cars. HELL YEAH, NATIONAL.YUGO HYBRID CLASS RACING KEEPS GOING FULL ON, as it did in 1991 and lonng before, so does it now in 2021, and so will it continue to do for some years to come 🙌
DiRT 4 is Arcade, F1 series is still Arcade, GT SPORT IS NOT A SIM LOL.

Automobilista is a rFactor 1 game engine but modern and still updated.
RaceRoom is the cheaper competitor of iRacing which is waaay cheaper and it's free, just pay the DLC no subscription..
GTS is a simulator. Every Gran Turismo is a simulator so far.

Lol, it's not a Racing simulator. just a straight racing game like Need for Speed or Forza.
Racing simulator is more complicated to do then a standard racing game. You have track life, tire deformation or tire flex, fuel simulation, 24H dynamic time and weather, you can switch from rain to dry. You have Practice to Qualification to Warm up and then Race, you have a working pit stop to do. I mean. Also, breaking line, racing line need to be used to get the most grip and go faster on the track.
Look at Pc2, every one said that is a simcade, but it's a Sim. From car to car, you feel the difference, the more you drive, the better grip you have, like real life. you have dirt coming from the side to the track and affect the handling by going on it. Forza and GT does not have all that stuff. sorry mate but GT and Forza are juste a standard racing game.
Not all Racing sim have dynamic weather like Assetto, RaceRoo, AMS, iRacing..
I really wonder for what custom races in GT Sport is... well PC2 is a sim no doubt about it, but older GT games were sims or were probably closer to a sim than GT sport is. I really dont giv a fuk. Its still a gud and fun game anyways

Toca race driver 3 is one I used to play that I never hear mention of. Which is weird because it has every type of 4 wheel racing imaginable including monster trucks, dirt track, rally, historic, so many and the crash physics are mind blowing for such an old game. Racing f1 in it really made me understand down force and the impact of loosing any peice of aero dynamic bodywork. There's wheel shimmys blown tires locked wheels broken steering. It was mind blowing in 2010ish.
