Outrageous highlight real for a 21 year old. He's seriously got the potential to be one of the best out there and I just know that him and Crowley will be driving eachother on.
He's an outstanding talent. His ability to read situations quickly and execute short and long passes under pressure is amazing for someone so young. His "pump passes" show a finesse few others have. For me though his unique talent (at this stage) is his spiral kick. Most players can do it, but it's been coached out of them. Not only can he execute this brilliantly, but it's the judgement to know when to do it and when not to. At the right time in a match, it can change momentum. His brilliance at doing it will likely show up some other international out halves who have probably been coached not to do it. Crowley is a fabulous player who hasn't really been given the respect he's been due having come in as a young out half, following a "legend" and not looked out of place. He's won the URC and performed well for Ireland. He's only a bit behind Russell and Smith and they're right up there too. I hope the two can work together and we can have another period of two amazing young Irish out halves pushing each other to the limit. It should be fun to watch 🙂
As an Ireland and Leinster fan I know Prendergast will come good in the next few years but Crowley’s deserved his shot starting in an Ireland shirt and I hope he does well
This is exactly the type of opinion every Ireland fan should have by all means have club rivalries but when it comes to the national team support the players no matter club they play for 👏
Completely agree, I thought it should have been Frawley and Crowley battling for the 10 shirt untill Prendergast had bulked up and earned his spot but it looks like we're going to copy the french and rush prospects in. Can guarantee he'll be targeted by the bigger 12s like Lawrence. Tuipulotu and Danty being injured will give him some relief.
@@barryduff7533 it rly goes to show how much of the Crowley v Prendergast story is rly just a media push to stir up some controversy, from the looks of things most Ireland fans, Leinster included, are comfortable that Crowley has deserved his spot I don’t mind Farrell rushing to play some youth, that worked well with Gus McCarthy and Clarkson to a lesser extent during ANS but I don’t believe fly half is rly a position where we need to be rushing through the next generation atm
For a 21 year old, prendergast is an outrageous talent. He needs to fill out that 6ft 4 frame, but the way he can stand up defences is a god-given gift. Can't be taught
Ireland fans should feel rly blessed to have 2 such talented options at fly half for me Crowley still deserves to start but Prendergast is a great option as back up
For Ireland to have Prendergast, Crowley and Frawley in the picture and competing for the number 10 spot is a far better place to be than relying solely on Sexton as we did for many years
Prendergast is good, there’s no doubting that. He doesn’t have a huge amount of game time even with Leinster yet though and as evidenced in Bath game at the weekend, he has plenty to learn. I don’t think it’s unfair to say he’s had it a lot easier playing behind a dominant pack for Leinster also. Personally would still definitely be starting Crowley for now. Prendergast could start in Italy and Wales games in 6N and it would benefit all. But we’ll see what develops over next few months and we’ll know a lot more post 6N and Champions cup knockout rounds.
It’s fantastic to have such a competitive rivalry in the 10 shirt. Crowley has been brilliant in the last 2/3 years, his form has dipped this season, there’s no denying that. He’s still very young so he’s learning his trade. He’ll gain huge confidents through adversity & will become a better player because of it. Prendergast has burst onto the scene & has been phenomenal in his first season as a pro. Of course Crowley will feel more pressure, naturally as he now has to take his game to a whole other level if he is to keep that 10 shirt & hes going to have to otherwise Prendergast will take it, because he’s not going anywhere, anytime soon. I’m a big fan of both players & a big fan of Frawley too who is more of a versatile player who can cover 10,12 & 15.
By the time he is 24 he will be the best player in the World, the kid is Different Gravy , no 20 year old has come on to the scene like him since Johnny Wilkinson , Sexton broke through at 24 , the kid is Unbelievable!!
Typical irish fans.as soon as we find a special talent, such as prendergast. We feel sorry for the other guy,and dont want to play him.play the in form player. Sadly the irish team for the six nations is full of players not on form. It's got a few last hurrah boys ,that should of went last year.
Crowley is a very good player and I think he will start in the 6n. It’s hard to see how Prendergast won’t pass him out soon though. That said you don’t know what can happen and his form can go and it will drive Crowley on. You can never have too many good players and you need competition. We relied on Sexton for a long time and for the last while he was more of a part time player rolling up for a few championship cup games and then the internationals. You need more depth than that.
@@Dreyno you are being generous. Crowley is grand when Prendy is injured or with the Lions. He makes too many basic errors like kicking balls dead to be the main man. Reminds me of Carty.
Overrated player who is lucky to play in the Leinster game system. He clearly need to improve his defense ability, his U20 final in 2023 was atrocious with many missed tackles
Between the fella getting worked up that the Irfu omitted Crowley from a tweet of players and now you getting worked up on a player highlight video that has nothing to do with Crowley. This whole Crowley and Prendergast debate has shown there is some very deranged Munster supporters out there.
He can be Crowley's caddy this 6N -- he is clearly not ready for international rugby.... give him a couple of years to put some muscle on and learn the game properly. If the D4 thickos don't ruin him first!
From anecdotal experience most Ireland fans I know would agree that Crowley deserves start - I’m a Leinster fan and quietly most of my Leinster supporting friends would admit Crowley deserves the starting birth as well, Prendergast has a high ceiling but Crowley’s deserves his place starting in for the Six Nations
@smileyface789 he isn't good enough. D4 hypes a a load of utter overrated shite. Ross Byrne, Frawley and now the Wonderboy. Maybe he won't be shite like the Ginger and Ross. But he's clearly not ready. D4 thickos aren't the suitable judge of rugby players, being completely ignorant as they are.
The last match leinster played Prendegast spent the first half getting up off his arse after been run over numerous time,s the second half he spent most of the time avoiding contact ,when ever possible, give him time and he will be incredible, but at present he is the weak link in the back line.

Fair play lad
Frawley best of the bunch

Isn't it superb to have 2 quality out halves in Ireland now. That's what we need, he is some prospect
Oldschool passing style with contemporary blitz. Pure joy to see this skill set.
LOVE that you found a clip from his school days

Theres also a lad named Casper Gabriel behind them. So 4 options really.

LOL cope harder Munster fan. Prendergast is the ten for the next 15 years.
Hope he gets even better over time
WUNDERFULL . GREAT FUTURE

The future is now
He seems to have the makings of Ireland’s greatest ever back line player.
As soon as he learns to tackle he will be a very good player.
You obviously didn't watch the whole reel.

Class act and it's still early days
If only we had such talented options at loosehead.
Felt bad for the guy who had the out the back hand pass clip his ear. He'd not a clue what was going on
4:38 Look at how JGP is the only player switched on to get forward and support. Everyone else ball watching
A handful of games and parachutes into a start against England, they are going to go straight for him and unsettle him big time.Crowley should start.
Pendergast should definitely play the wales and Italy games with Crowley the other ones for this year then Pendergast can take over 10 next year
But how would he play on a cold wet midweek 1/4 final of a World Cup game ?
@@docgonzales I don’t think there’s ever been a quarter final World Cup game in midweek
@ it’s a meme/ joke bro .
Very skillful player. We will.see him bulk up a bit when he reaches 22/23 and he will have more physicality to bring to bear.
It's tough on Crowley but this kid needs every minute of test match rugby we can give him to be ready for 2027... Long term investment
Remember this name......Caspar Gabriel
wait till he is last man tackle lol

Why? He's been mediocre for ages. You have to perform at a high level consistently to get on the Ireland team.
Yeah on the summer tour when Prendy is with the Lions
100 percent? How about, No? 50/50 at best.
@@Dreyno you are being generous. Crowley is grand when Prendy is injured or with the Lions. He makes too many basic errors like kicking balls dead to be the main man. Reminds me of Carty.
Prendergast is way more talented than Crowley ,he Should be picked ahead of Crowley he has it.
That's OK, but he's useless at table tennis.
I heard he invented table tennis but refuses to take credit for it because he finds it too easy.
Put another way, if Crowley was at Leinster, Prendergast would still be 1st pick.
Crowley is a RWC champ from 2023 bro ignore Prendergast
Ignore Prendergast. Are you for real.
Pretty sure Ireland didn't win a world cup?
@ we won the RWC final 13-8 bro show us rispek
Cue furious Munster fans
Nope. Crowley will start.
Overrated. Heer in SA we have 5 young ones of that quality.
lol Munster fans can’t be serious ?!
So skilled, he is defo the guy for Ireland! Way better that Crowley
All this is very reminiscent of the hype around Harry Byrne. Look what happened there.
@cateym Sam Prendergast is already Leinster & Ireland's number 1 10...something Harry Byrne has never come close to replicating.
Harry Byrne never looked as good as that
No, it's absolutely nothing like it. Byrne was never the first choice for Ireland, especially at 21. You can see Prendergast is a level up

He’s 6’4” and 91kg. Putting much more weight on will make him a very skilled backrow.
