I’ve had a wobble the last few days can’t sleep so I thought I’ll watch some of Clarklys stuff on TH-cam...and I’ve discovered this gem when I thought I’d watched them all....great stuff man great stuff
Thanks Steven theres at least a hundred and twenty odd/thirty vids on here now pal just click the vids tab for a full complete list. This mill actually a full blown almost finished housing estate now. The skyline just isnt the same anymore' Il never forget that view.
Another great one Clarkey , they'll struggle to knock it all down as the old mills were all over built but in modern days are classed as not practical to use as modern factories or distribution centers. The Water Lodge was common to all the steam powered mills and the original smaller mills just had a pond sized water at the side of it to feed water to the boiler of the steam engine which would usually be sheltered from the wind by the high sided mill walls hence the term "As calm as a Mill Pond". No, not all m8 I love learning about the history of these places and history in general. I never bothered in school because it was simply mundane but when your out there discovering places and just doing it for yourself it's a different style of learning ya know!
Looks like same sort of joint that the infamous Vance Miller ran his dodgy kitchens business from, i even had misfortune of working for him from Maple mill in Oldham doing transport admin back in the mid noughties.

My wife used to work here in the 1975 where the canteen is they used to play bingo....I on the other hand worked here logging marshal ward returns only I worked for British rail collecting returns after their shifts people where searched on their way out..I was waiting for my wife and wanted to search me his face turned white when I told him that he couldn't because I worked fo British rail..there would of been hell to pay...still they where the good old days...sad the mills are no longer standing....cheers mate...
I say my wife,she was my ex wife she's passed away now...she loved the mill they used the canteen for all sorts of functions like Christmas,birthdays and of course the bingo..thanks for the video as I say I worked for British rail and never left the loading bay the video was a glimpse into my ex's work place...thank you.

Just watched both episodes jason ... thank you for capturing these wonderful bits of history these buildings are so massive and stunning ...we visited swan mill its also in bolton didnt get in it but if ya get a chance check it out ...stay safe respect brother ...Frank & Lee....

The papered room in the canteen was a probably once a restroom/dining room for the catering staff.
makes you wonder how many people worked here in its heyday, it must have been a human ant hill with people swarming all over the place! thanks for uploading clarky interesting vid saved for prosperity when the mill is eventually demolished.

All.the roads on the estate are named beehive road loom close im on keepers walk behind the old gate house whidh still srands albeit abandoned wish they would do something with it
I did night security at beehive mill and the front lodge with the old safe still in there was Deffently haunted some strange things went on at night

They turning that place into houses pal 122 the security told us I walked past on Manchester road and as u look at it from united utilities ground the building on the right hand side its open to the elimentsnow as top two floors are almost gone now

More lost heritage, this will be left to rot by the owners then pulled down due to it's structural integrity, this needs to be renovated and turned into housing or small business lets

Shame it's all gone. Now it's a Lego housing estate. More of our heritage gone and lost.

Lol, your literally the only one to make such a comment lol, seriously out of thousands m8. However, I do personally get where you're coming from and I am working on improving it even though I do just wing it with no script or prior knowledge on the locations etc.
