      Just a shame all around. I woke up out of a dead sleep last night about 1130 and the news was just reporting his death. I couldn’t believe it. I thought it was a hoax at first, maybe a promotional spot for their horror movie. But it’s not. RIP Oliver Taylor.

      i remember everything about that day. Watching them call the election, seeing all the celebrations around the actual world on TV while my husband and i drank the "celebration/or apocalypse" bourbon we bought, the small sigh of relief in the pandemic. It rained in the morning only to stop long enough for us to go on a walk and HILARIOUSLY see a rainbow in the sky. And then closing out the night with this performance....ugh so many emotions. ....

      Sry for the Devon instead of Devin in my response:
      “Devon J”, I respectfully differ on this song choice. This song Sang to me years ago, during whatever crisis I had going on sparking a Hope of sorts. Given this weeks event B, I would bet these guys came to a unanimous decision that this timeless piece, (among all of their inventory) may just be thee Catalyst in moving someone hearing it for the first time-a feeling of hope-also reminding their Fan Base where we were the first time we heard it, knew it was good and where Dave was when it was written. “It’s time like these we learn to live and love again” will work forever if we can just recall it at our time of need. I needed it back the and this morning.
      Lol, I couldn’t “Thumbs Down” anyone that knows the other choices they could have made. 👍🏻

    That was Dave's 14th appearance on SNL, more than any other musician. Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures and some backup stints for Mick Jagger and Tom Petty. Amazing! Appeared in several sketches too.

    • @AcceleratedEvolution
      @AcceleratedEvolution 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I was so confused when I first read the comment thinking you meant Dave Chapelle, I was like "Nirvana was only actively popular for 3 years before Kurt died.... so..." Then I'm like "Oh. Dave Grohl, and a list of the awesome projects which have appeared in performances on the show...." This is what happens when someone with ADHD reads comments :(
      Cheers! Dave Grohl is the last standing "Rock Star" that continues to evolve and put out exciting and adventurous material which is consistently epic. Wasting Light is the best album they have put out, the entire album being performed at the Ed Sullivan Theater in black and white is one of my favorite live performances to watch. (Thank You David Letterman for having that go down. Loved the Beatles T on the bass drum for fighTers, along with the suits and Dave's killer dancing while playing and singing :) - ).
      After being a bit disappointed with Sonic Highways, when the "RUN" Music Video dropped I was all in... then "Sky is a Neighborhood" became an INSTANT classic, after one listen/viewing of the video I screamed across the house to my girlfriend "QUICK. FOO FIGHTERS HAVE A NEW SONG, IT HAS THAT "SONG OF YEAR" MEMORABLE FEEL TO IT!" When I stopped shouting I elaborated while looking at only a few thousand views as the video had just dropped; "This track is going to be huge, RUN was great but the catchiness and composition is going to have fans of any genre digging it. We will remember this moment many years from now." I really wish they'd play that more for these live gigs, it's just a killer track within the career as a stand-out; not just an album stand-out...
      but anyway I look forward to see what else the new LP will bring, "Shame, Shame" is growing on me. It didn't pack the punch of RUN nor the melodic brilliance of Sky is a Neighborhood... I was honestly a bit confused and turned off halfway through it; I enjoy all genres but I was getting this odd vibe of Foo's sort of sounding like Dave was forcing some sort of Modern R&B vibes but it felt weird rather than exciting. Took me a week or so to warm up to it and now I do dig it, but what I dig more is that I expect with the stylistic choices made in that track we could be in for another adventurous LP.
      Concrete and Gold was fantastic, especially "Sunday Rain" as being the track I was waiting to hear in its studio form after reading Paul McCartney played drums while Taylor Hawkins used his beautifully gravelly voice to elevate it.
      As a die-hard Beach Boys fan, Taylor Hawkins really impressed me when he sang lead vocals on Denis Wilson's unfinished masterpiece "Holy Man". I am glad the original engineer asked Hawkins as he stated "They are from the same mold, drummers with similar delivery." He then made an ultimate compliment "When I play the track for people they can't believe its not Denis singing, he sounds that much like him." - If any fans haven't listened to Holy Man, check it out; it was part of the Reissue of Denis Wilson's "Pacific Ocean Blue" album.
      ALSO: A superior version they added things to about a year and a half ago was released as a single; makes it more of an epic track with dueling guitar solos and whatnot; check out both versions!
      Endless love everyone. Stay groovy.

    • @AcceleratedEvolution
      @AcceleratedEvolution 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ALSO: The 2019 version I am talking about has both Roger Taylor (Drummer from Queen) and Brian May (Guitarist from Queen) performing on the track, along with harmonizing vocals with Taylor Hawkins and they ended up finding some rough vocal takes from Dennis Wilson's sessions from 1976-1977 and included them in the mix alongside Hawkins.
      While the amazing re-release and first time release of his unfinished album "Caribou" are packaged together with the "Holy Man (Taylor Hawkins Version)" as the finale... the ultimate version is listed as a single: "Holy Man (Hawkins - May - Taylor - Wilson Version)"
      Fans of Queen, The Foo Fighters, The Beach Boys and Dennis Wilson immediately run to check it out; fans of music please do the same.

Especially rock. Because of SNL, I discovered artists like Gary Clark Jr., Tame Impala, Jack White, and most of all, Greta Van Fleet who since the day I first saw them on SNL, has been my favorite band. This season of SNL has been one of the best music-wise in a long time. Having Jack white on, The Strokes, and then having Foo Fighters on a week later!
