- During my tour of the Monkey Temple in Kathmandu, Nepal, I was given an interesting demonstration of singing bowls that are not only musical instruments, but are also used for meditation and healing. The shop owner showed me how they work and the bowls do make very soothing sounds. Although many of the singing bowls are known as Tibetan singing bowls because it was originally thought that they came from Tibet, many are actually made in Kathmandu. I enjoyed the demonstration so much, of course I ended up buying a singing bowl!

This so common in india and Nepal in temples as soon as we enter the temple there will be a bell which makes similar sound that's the reason the old people tell us to ring the bell before you go for praying or meditating in the temple

It doesn't literally heal you like magic but if you really take it in and let the vibration sooth your thoughts away you can find internal healing.. most of our pain comes from mental suffering.. these bowls are so therapeutic to me.. so relaxing.. but let's be realistic about it ❤️

I’m curious what if you accidentally get a bowl that vibrates with some organ and causes dysfunction. Can that happen? Someone told me don’t place big singing bowls on the heart due to this.

the hand made bowls respond the the bare wood better,
the tone of the hand made bowls is truer
you have to listen to each bowl to find the one that speaks to you directly

I stood inside a huge singing bowl while it was played for me. Crazy , you could feel things vibrate you didn't even know you had.
The Chinese made machine bowl was "Ting" and the Nepalese hand made bowl was "Teeeeeeeng". How much for the Ting?

Takes me back to 11th when i studied and did resonance air column experiment. Tuning fork with different frequencies have different sound and different duration for one hit from rubber cork.
Surprisingly I never realised that this is concept used in temple bells and vessels in this video and they sound relaxing as per their frequency.
As everyone says, Hinduism is way of life and that's why temples have bells with different frequencies and they sound relaxing.
and Christian churches have bells -(and Catholic Christian churches also use them inside the church during religious ceremonies as well as the large bells outside in the steeple. they probably got the idea from Asia.

Excellent sounding bowls. It's very good for healing and gives peace of mind. That's why in our Indian culture every hindu temple has a bell made of those alloys

I had a 10k gold wedding band from my marriage and one day I took it off to wash my hands and accidentally pushed it off the counter and it hit the hard ceramic tile on the bathroom floor and the ring sang like nothing I had ever heard before, it was a high-pitched, crystal-clear sound that even caught my wife's attention in the living room. and I told her it was my ring, and she wouldn't believe me until i did it again, it was the first time I had heard that a gold ring could sing. Gold in and of itself when pure is too soft, but when alloyed with Silver it becomes hard enough to reverberate when hit. in my case, dropped, because the ring bounced high up off the floor that I could catch it again. So a singing bowl with Gold and silver in it definitely would have a voice of it's own. The solid Brass, machine made bowl definitely sing, but only has one tone, the hand made bowl has multiple tones in it, you can clearly hear it.
