Shamelessness? Sang-woo did what any mentally stable person would do: Whatever it takes. It's what I would do. It's what you would do. And one can only say anything to the contrary because they're not actually in that situation and can feign ultra virtuousness from the safety of their home. But if in that situation the fear, anxiety, desperation and survival instinct would kick in and all those lofty fantasies we have about ourselves and all those lofty morals would fly right out the window.
It's fun to watch your reactions, but I noticed you guys didn't really discuss the final scene between Sae-Byeok and Ji-Yeong, which actually were the two that hit me the hardest. Just curious if you guys edited out your reactions, or if you guys didn't quite feel as emotional about the relationship between the two. But, for me, seeing someone actually sacrifice themselves was pretty gripping to see... Great episode, though!
@garveydent seen it..i believe the creator also did a great job analyzing Sang-woo. But yeah..Ji-Yeong is the moral victor of the show. She just wanted to make a friend over winning the cash prize.

The rules were - basically if a majority wants to quit then only the family of the deceased will get the money not the players. And, also it's a winner take all - there can only be one scenario... And, plus it will make so much more sense at the end as to why there can only be one.
What this show does a great job of is showing the game of life played out in simple terms. Life is NOT fair. The good person often "loses". Aggression, exploitation, deception and manipulation are the fundamental to companies and countries. We all know this, and usually accept it because it is too far beyond us to change the game. Squid Game is genius in that it reconnects us with the emotion of the fight we all play out in life. Do we make the moral choice? The "right" choice? What in the world is the "right" choice? As Amber said, "Would God be pleased?"
If they would have come up with a way for Ali to lose without being stupid (there's trusting and then there's stupid) this would have been one of the best episodes of TV I've seen in a long time. Usually stuff like this doesn't affect me, but I had to 'decompress' after watching it too.
@@sgrapness4678 Ali isn't portrayed as "stupid". It goes far deeper than what you see on the su4rface. The writer/direct carefully chose the characters to represent a certain faction/group who are victims of society. Ali represents the thousands of migrant workers who are voiceless victims in Korea. They do not have a way to fight back.

Exploited doesn't mean stupid. I would have said the same thing if any of the other characters were in the same situation.
While, by any reasonable judgment, Sang-woo tricking Ali was "unfair", I don't think it was by the particular morality of the game. The only thing that's been called "unfair" so far was when an advantage was offered to one player (the doctor) that was no offered to other players. In theory, any player could try to trick their partner so that was open to all. I'm not even sure that the lighter used in the honeycomb game was "illegal" (no rule was stated that you couldn't heat the needle) or "unfair" (in theory anyone could smuggle something into the games). If you look at the games from a reasonable perspective, it's all unfair. If you look at it from a twisted morality very little is.

There was no mention of requiring 20 marbles, just all you teammate's marbles. If only they had the gganbu spirit.
