The players see the bodies of Player 111 and his co-conspirators strung up for cheating, and are assured that the games are designed to give every player a fair chance without discrimination. For the fourth game, players are told to pair up, but discover that instead of working as a team, they will have to play against their partner in a marble game of their choice. Whoever gets all their partner's marbles within 30 minutes will win and survive. Sae-byeok and Player 240, named Ji-yeong, share their life stories; Ji-yeong sees Sae-byeok has more to live for and sacrifices herself. Sang-woo tricks Ali into giving up his marbles and wins, which results in Ali's death. Deok-su wins against his partner and henchman, Ja-hyoung. Gi-hun exploits Player 001's dementia to defeat him, only to discover that Player 001 had been aware of the deception the entire time. Player 001, who remembers his name to be Oh Il-nam, allows Gi-hun to win anyway, as he is his gganbu (trusted friend). Gi-hun, Sang-woo and Sae-byeok are traumatized by the deaths of their friends.

Ali was overly trusting and received the ultimate betrayal. Sae-byeok trusted nobody and received the ultimate sacrifice.

Squid Game is a masterpiece.
The acting in this episode is top notch, very emotional.
Movies are usually sad, laughing, and ending, but Korean movies and dramas have many works that make me think about my life.
i've heard that in the two girls scene, both kept crying after the scene was finished . showing the true emotion they had during the filming of that scene .

I'm still amazed by the acting of Saebyeok (Jung Hoyeon) and Jiyeongs (Lee Yoomi) actresses every time I watch this episode. Especially considering it was the formers first role ever.
The scene affected them a lot as well. Both were crying in the behind the scenes video after they finished shooting :')
I've seen this episode before , but I cried right along with you this morning. The best and worst qualities of a human being were on display here.

This episode wreck everyone. I'am watching it like 10th time and I cry just like the first time.
It's very emotional.
This is something I found out later, and it affected me strongly:
"As they got closer, Sang-woo tells Ali to call him 형/Hyung, which has the standard definition of 'older brother', but it's also used between male friends who are close. And it is all the more tragic when the betrayal occurs, and Ali's last words were calling for Sang-woo 'Hyung'."

The best and worst episode of a series of all time. Insane how they can make you feel for someone in 1 episode to only rip her away just as quickly.
Sae-byeok and Ji-yeong are what break me. Team Sae-byeok for sure. Everyone else is there because of gambling addictions, bad investments, etc. Sae-byeok was there to reunite her family. The best reason.
