    Hey @ZenWatercooler, Appreciate this tip! I also did the mistake of just pinning my own items for sale. I find your videos helpful and so relatable because I also have a full-time job but I spend a lot of time doing POD but only selling less than 50 products on Etsy as of the moment (still developing my self-hosted shop). And you are able to make hundreds of POD designs and SVGs to sell in different marketplaces plus Pinterest. I am wondering how do you divide your time and organize workloads, I've learned Etsy's algorithm favors someone who updates and add products on a daily basis, and I'm thinking maybe the same for Redbubble and others. Do you spend weekends doing bulk designs then upload them one by one every day? Any tools or platform management you use? Hope I can get your reply or maybe this could be a topic in your next video... Thanks in advance:)

      Yes great questions - I can answer a few here and I a vid planned too. I make a bunch of similar designs all at once - so in 2 hours on Photoshop I can do like 40 designs. They are all “funny cat” or “vintage new york” or whatever. So then I can copy and paste tags quickly from Word (just changing a couple of words in the tags). So I don’t ever spend an hour making one design - I make funny text or picture/text designs. Quick. I don’t overthink it. People don’t want high art - they want something funny or witty or clean (like high quality graphic and proper text). Video on time saving tips coming up!

    Nice video about Pinterest - it caused me to subscribe. I do have one question about your Pinterest promotion. Over a hundred click throughs for $10 is pretty good - less than 10 cents per click. My question is, did this lead to an increase in sales?

    • @zenwatercooler
      @zenwatercooler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question - I only have done it a few times and I've only used designs that are already consistent sellers - so I can say that the views and saves on Pinterest were definitely much higher (like thousands vs a couple of hundred). I can't say for certain how many more sales it generated. But I would say that it definitely increased the visibility (a lot) on Pinterest and that increased the chances of someone thinking of buying that design.

    • @zenwatercooler

    • @zenwatercooler
      @zenwatercooler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did a couple of paid promotions on Pinterest (like $10 each time, I think I did it twice) and I can't say that it resulted in a ton of more actual engagement. Views went way up, but clickthroughs and sales weren't significantly affected. I think Pinterest is great for getting more eyeballs on designs but it doesn't automatically translate to more sales (at least not immediately).

    • @zenwatercooler
      @zenwatercooler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey there - I usually follow the person (not the board). I would say if you have lots of different interests, follow the person. If you only care about one specific niche, then follow the board only. I like being nosy and getting weird new stuff in my feed!

    I have enjoyed this video. You suggest that you just open an account and use it for 3 months, without focusing on promotion. Should this account be opened as a Pinterest business account or not?

    • @zenwatercooler
      @zenwatercooler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's a good question - I personally have a business account. It's free and it gives me analytics. So I would say open a business account but then use it as a consumer for a bit. Like I use my Pinterest account to share my designs, but also to save other designs that inspire me to create new stuff. Or just stuff that I like.

      @kristinashumadieva1529 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zenwatercooler hi there. Thanks for the video. I have 2 questions. 1) what do you suggest to be our user name on Pinterest? 2) which marketplace you have linked to your Pinterest as an official website when you were creating the account? The one from your Redbubble store or you don't have any link connected to your store you just mannually add links to some of your designs published on the marketplaces and also add the appropriate link to that POD product mannualy?

    • @kw9515
      @kw9515 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kristinashumadieva1529 I would suggest a gender neutral name - a significant portion of Pinterest people are female and they get a bit creeped out by AWESOMEDUDE on Pinterest kind of thing. Usually something generic like your username or gmail address would work? I don't link my actual shops on Pinterest - I do what you mentioned as the second option - I manually add links to the occasional design (like 1 out of every 20 posts) and it links to my design.

    Hi, very helpfull video, seems we all make the mistake of promoting our own products ;-)
    Have a question, when you pin (daily on your boards, before you come up with your own pins), do you pin stuff from the competition, or only related things, like say yur T-shirts are about funny cats, would you then pin funny cats, or also T-shirts from the competition that use funny cats?
    Just wondering, am always thinking, when promoting other peoples stuff, they may stay away from mine...
    Keep up the good work!

    • @zenwatercooler
      @zenwatercooler  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question - I will pin anything and everything as a consumer (that I am actually interested in) and then about every 10 pins or so I will stick my own stuff in there). I typically don’t care if it is competition or not, I am trying to make a quality board. So I use it as a true consumer and then also as a promoter.

      Yes I sell on multiple POD sites so if you pick a design that is already selling (which I did), chances are good that the exposure is worth the $10. I don't do it very often but it did work (I made a few more sales) than normal. But I can't say with 100% certainty that it would work every time for every design. People generally buy designs because they want it and the design is high quality - not because it is being promoted.
