  • Fonts are an often overlooked part of the design process when using print on demand (Etsy, Redbubble, Teepublic, etc). Here are some tips for using fonts - placing, spacing and making it pop in the design. Increase your chances of selling on print on demand platforms by having eye-catching fonts. Also included: where to find free fonts that are available for commercial use.

      That's a good question-Redbubble does not currently have a design tool. The only thing that sometimes is useful is the pattern feature (you can easily make whatever design repeat in an array).

    • @zenwatercooler
      @zenwatercooler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not aware of any method to do that - I wouldn't worry too much about that to be honest. Just make sure that your default color is appropriate. (The customer won't accidentally buy a white shirt with white text... hopefully)

      @@zenwatercooler I think I've got a solution for this problem: Always use black glow around white text and white glow around black text. I make the glow precise (in Photoshop) instead of soft so that it's really like an outline instead of a glow. I came up with this method to solve a different problem (for TeePublic). I used to upload two versions of each design - one with white text and one with black text, and choose the appropriate tee-shirt colors for each design depending on the color of the text. Now I just upload one version of each design and choose every tee-shirt color. With the outline, the text shows up great no matter what the tee-shirt color.

    I saw a video that said don't put the design in the middle, put it up further. Is that good advice? I believe the hand means stay away, like you would put your hand up in real-life which I think applies but I don't like the type of hand they have up there. I think it should be a regular hand, because that one looks like a skeleton hand or a hand where kids put their hands in paint and then on a piece of paper.I was using font space but when I made the fonts larger it looked terrible. Now I am using google fonts.Lots of this stuff I can not figure out the right way to do it,but I do it in a way that I can understand how to do it. I use a lot of screen prints.

    • @zenwatercooler
      @zenwatercooler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes typically you would have the design on a t-shirt at about armpit level (and lower). I will window shop at the mall and look at shirts to see the designs and also the sizing/placement. Since listings are free on Redbubble, make a few variants and see if a lower-placed design sells!

    • @debradavis9312
      @debradavis9312 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zenwatercooler On the first t shirts you only have a certain space to put the design on. You cannot go past it. I have been starting my design on the top of it. And every t shirt you see is not put on the same place. Lately I have been concerned that my designs are too big, so I have been making them smaller. Its hard to see on redbubble which shirts are right and which ones are wrong on the big or small designs.

    Really informative and awesome video as always.
    I made a Teepublic account about 2 months ago. I uploaded about 50 designs over there, also added social media links, banner photo, etc. But I have noticed that none of my designs are searchable. I have emailed them several times but I always get automated messages. Sometimes they say that due to creative reasons I will have to promote my designs on social media and sometimes they say that their creative team likes to reserve the site for more original works as opposed to vector art. I don't understand as none of my designs violate any copyright rules. All of those designs have also been uploaded to Redbubble. Do you have any tips on what I can do to solve this issue as I really want to sell on Teepublic?
    Thanks

    • @zenwatercooler
      @zenwatercooler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that COULD work - I have tried that (stroke) in Photoshop and it comes down to personal preference on if you like the sticker to be square, circular, or the same general shape as the design. (I like circular but that’s just me)

    So you can't use a capital at the beginning of a sentence? Or one in the beginning of each word? Just all caps, or no caps? The hand makes sense because we put our hand in that position when we don't want someone to get close to us. It means stop.

It's all well and good to say you're not trying to be mean, but these people didn't ask for your opinion. If there are people asking why their designs aren't selling, then they should be wiling to let you put their work in the hot seat.
