Greetings from Colorado! I hope you are doing well. Keep your trees safe over winter while we look forward to watching more videos as you have time. Blessings to you!
I've been into Bonsai for decades, love home improvement store junk, and this guy has it going on! I prefer clip and grow to wiring, but this was a wonderfully inspiring video. Thanks!
Very nice tree! I'm sceptical with new bonsai channels at first and I was especially sceptical with this tree and the three-trunk design, but it turned out really awesome! It probably won't be long before massive backbudding occurs. Good to see young bonsai artists doing great stuff. We're even the same age and have the same name. You've got a new subscriber ;).
hello, you have my support and i will keep watching good luck in what you do it will reword you as time goes on as what you have created is art in its living form and life goes on keeping the balance in mind. great luck to you my friend!
Good start my friend my buxsus pre bonsai bud back like you wouldn't believe even under growlamps! This is gonna be a great tree to work with through the years the branches are delicate on the smaller trees aswell I don't like to wire my boxwoods anymore just the clip and grow for now they also sit in full sun till 3pm it's just rite for mine I do see alot with alot of scorched foilage
***** hi, can you please let us know what the black paste was? I keep seeing people using it in videos for deciduous trees, because they tend to heal differently, but no body explains what it is, nor how it's called, and I might start making some deciduous bonsai myself, and so I'd love to be informed about this. Thank you so much !
whizkid It genrally a Cut paste of some sort, (www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Japanese-Bonsai-Cut-paste-wound-sealant-160gm-/191511597394?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item2c96fb1152) theres one i found on ebay as an example, hope this answers your question.
+whizkid Oh, it seems that Yanik did not see your question. May I help? ;-) This is a wound closure paste. Something similar is also used for big trees after losing a branch for avoiding infections and it contains tea tree oil for disinfection which often is also used from gardeners to clean their saws and other tools not to carry an infection from one Tree to another. It is always a good advise to look after this. There are special wound closure pastes for bonsai in different colours from light brown or grey to nearly black. It gives also optical effects to the work. I don't know about the brand Yanik used but you can find a lot of different brands, mostly imported from Japan, at Amazon f.ex. Or maybe you can find via Google a nice community in your country. There you can get several advises. Sometimes even on EBay are good sellers to find. Depends on where you live. I live in Onlinemiddleageworld and even me can buy it online. So be optimistic.;-) Bye 👋 and the best wishes for your projects! ❤
Kaizen Bonsai! Wonderful info on their site, under 'Articles'. And great videos on TH-cam under Graham Potter. Kaizen also offers great tools soil, etc at excellent prices.
everytime I see this video im blown away .you have a great vision and the fact you can manifest it so accurately is brilliant.......... but post more ..... where have you been??? Where are you located ?
This is beautifully done! I have a friend who has an old boxwood that I would LOVE to turn into a bonsai - where can I find the best price for wire?? It is going to take a LOT, :). How has this tree matured since it has been over two years now?? Thank you for sharing!!
Wonderful video thanks for posting it. I wish you could look at mine. I am extremely new. I've cleaned mine up. The bad part is I don't know how to determine what should or go & lastly figure out what form to give it. Thanks again for sharing
+Thomas Pirker It usually takes several re-wireings (is that an english word?). I think that this tree will stay in this shape without wire in 5 years. The faster the branches grow the faster this process will be finished because the new wood holds the position, not the old one.
The kind of tree, aka the species is listed in the title. Also known as common box, or boxwood. The style is twin trunk informal upright. The black putty is cut paste, used to protect the wound and reduce scaring.
+Matthew Chambers Hi Matthew, aluminum rolls are sold per gram, so I buy 500g rolls for the small diameters and 1kg ones for bigger ones. I have all the diameters from 1mm to 6mm, but for the start a combo of: 1,5mm, 2mm, 2,5mm, 3mm, 3,5mm should be ok if your trees are not too big.

thanks 4 posting. i was surprised to see how BiG ur tree is?! i'am new to bonsai and my ficus benjimina is 6 years old and 5 inches high:) ur tree is almost as tall as me:)
+Gwendolyn Sewell The Little Terrier. The smaller brother of the Terrier from kaizen bonsai. It has two blades instead of three and a smaller diameter. I often use it for hollowing and smaller deadwood parts.
+mccartherable No, I actually did not. I started very early when I first saw an apple bonsai in front of a landscape of thurgau (switzerland) with real apple trees and I was impressed how the small tree fit in...
Beautiful transformation! I'm working on my first boxwood now. Hope it turns out a fraction as nice as yours.
Greetings from Colorado! I hope you are doing well. Keep your trees safe over winter while we look forward to watching more videos as you have time. Blessings to you!
Love to see more video's from you and how things worked out after time.
It's so pure and honest!
I've been into Bonsai for decades, love home improvement store junk, and this guy has it going on! I prefer clip and grow to wiring, but this was a wonderfully inspiring video. Thanks!

This is one of the best boxwood I've seen.awesome job.

that's a lot of wiring, but labor is what makes progress. thanks , It will be interesting to see this tree in the future.
Sorry for deleting and re-uploading the video. TH-cam got problems providing it in HD.

+Katie von Olendörp Thank you for the explanation. I agree it is a cut paste. Got mine from kaizen bonsai back then...
Kaizen Bonsai! Wonderful info on their site, under 'Articles'. And great videos on TH-cam under Graham Potter. Kaizen also offers great tools soil, etc at excellent prices.
Good looking trees. Good looking bloke.
totally agree...it was hard to keep my attention on the tree..but both he and the tree are beautiful. In their own way of course.

You are truly a master! Very inspiring!
Very nice eye to see that possibility from that tree.
Wow it's so beautiful. Good job man ! 😳😄👍🏻
The dark bonsai rises
:) Perhaps a better background for a craggy old tree than this younger twin trunk...
it's the bonsai Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now.
I read your comment before the music started......and 3 sec later........Oh now i get it.......LOL.
Updates on the progress of these too please. Very inspiring.
I'm just getting with Bonsai.. Very nicely done.. :)
everytime I see this video im blown away .you have a great vision and the fact you can manifest it so accurately is brilliant.......... but post more ..... where have you been??? Where are you located ?
Nice work. I am planning to do one like that too. But will have to find a good material first. :) Do you have any update on this tree? Thankyou
This was an inlightening demo without very much understanding of why you did certain things. But your results are quite incredible.

Wow!!! It looks beautiful
That music though, bit dramatic..

How long does it take for the wired branches to stay where they are supposed to be?
+Thomas Pirker It usually takes several re-wireings (is that an english word?). I think that this tree will stay in this shape without wire in 5 years. The faster the branches grow the faster this process will be finished because the new wood holds the position, not the old one.
Nice video, tree look better now
If I may ask how did you get involved with bonsai at such a young age?
+Kalinna Aub Scroll down, mccartheable already asked me that question.

Very nice job,well done
What is this black putty and what kind is the tree
The kind of tree, aka the species is listed in the title. Also known as common box, or boxwood. The style is twin trunk informal upright. The black putty is cut paste, used to protect the wound and reduce scaring.
Any updates on this tree???

Hey Neff, nice video :) I'm looking to buy lots of wire like yours, how long are the rolls and what gauges do you buy?
+Matthew Chambers Hi Matthew, aluminum rolls are sold per gram, so I buy 500g rolls for the small diameters and 1kg ones for bigger ones. I have all the diameters from 1mm to 6mm, but for the start a combo of: 1,5mm, 2mm, 2,5mm, 3mm, 3,5mm should be ok if your trees are not too big.

Does anyone know why he shaved/chipped away at the vertical grooves in the trunk at the end of the video? At 9:26+ Thanks
Presumably to remove dead areas. And/or to add interest, as in natural hollows that develop on deciduous trees.
Can we get an update???
Update on your $30 tree?
Do you have an update on this tree ?
Tim Pham It has not changed alot since it is growing slooowly...
I love bonsai and Hans Zimmer! Win, win!
Stellar work!
nice job, congratulations
What sort of tool are you using at 9:46 ?
+Gwendolyn Sewell The Little Terrier. The smaller brother of the Terrier from kaizen bonsai. It has two blades instead of three and a smaller diameter. I often use it for hollowing and smaller deadwood parts.
Good job, well done
Great Job Bro !!!!!
How did someone so young get into Bonsai. I seem to know a lot! Did you take classes?
+mccartherable No, I actually did not. I started very early when I first saw an apple bonsai in front of a landscape of thurgau (switzerland) with real apple trees and I was impressed how the small tree fit in...
