They are not species, they are a breed and they are not wild they are feral. The wild ancestors of modern cattle are extinct, the last killed in Poland in the sixteenth century. There are wild relatives of modern cattles like the Gaur, the critically endangered wild Yak, Banteng and kouprey. Originally there were 11 species in Genus Bos, out of them four are extinct. Three ( Yak, Mithun and Cattle) are domesticated and four (Gaur, kouprey, Banteng and Wild yak) are threatened.
Great Video, I remember seeing a piece about it before on Countryfile, now its great to be able to look at this again.. Just so fascinating to see our farm animals, living wild.
If straws were collected an outside upgrade program could be started, to lessen inbreeding and get an insurance herd, that is, some elsewhere. Vaynol and Cadzow genetics in the insurance herd too. So many ways to give them a future.
Vous avez raison, ce bétail dit " Sauvage " a certainement passé l'hiver en stabulation dans une étable . Sinon c'est impossible qu'il aient les fesses aussi sales .
Beautiful cattle !
They're beautiful!
I would like to establish the first Chillingham Wild White Cattle herd in Derbyshire.
Very peaceful video. It makes me feel invigorated knowing these cattle species managed to stay wild after all these centuries

have to get there some day. cattle really resambles of wild auroch
The horn position and behaviors may be the only part of theise cattle that resemble the auroch to me. Not the size of the animals or the color, etc

wow! I have to find out more about this park - looks interesting
Wow, 11 years later
Amazing quality of the video
As far as inbreeding in concerned, this might be decreased if White park cattle are introduced and allowed to feral and breed in Chillingham.
The issue is that inbreeding will continue. But they may have a genetic disease
Are the horns different on the females?
Yes
What about the TB test and have they been dosed for worms full of fluke I'd say
No, they get absolutely no medical care.
@@alistairclement4239 Actually they need it. That shitty arse is a tell tell sign that it needs a drench
They would want to be done for fluke very dirty bottoms on those cattle onless the grass is rich.

Sounds dangerous, good thing no one is walking through that park on a straight line mission or something like that...
