I would have thought the stiffer veg tanned leather would have paired better with the lugged boot. Those boots having a high heel, they are pretty much designed for people performing specific duties such as logging, shoveling, ladder work.
The break in period, rather than a metric of first day versus third day and so on, I’d be thinking in terms of months with most any boot from them. For example, I’ve got a pair of shop Mocs from red wing, it’s a low cut Classic Moc with a wedge some and a thick veg tanned insole. Those alone took me a solid month before I felt I’d made a dent in the insole. The first couple weeks I simply wore them for a couple hours at a time before and after work. Another month later and I’d say they still weren’t completely broken in, but much more comfortable.
Those wedge sole boots, I work on concrete up to ten hours a day, those are what I think I’d be gravitating to for Amy work. I don’t need all the ankle support and do a lot of kneeling, so the lower, more shoe like boot shaft is more comfortable and convenient.
I think I’d have swapped the leathers on those two boots and then they get tan, I couldn’t even imagine how long they would take to break in, that’s what I associate with insoles, or the leather straps on a messenger bag, bridal leather….. I suppose a logger would likely go for one of their heavier leathers and not the W&C veg tan for actual work. That leather might be one of those materials that’s truly spectacular, sounds great as an idea on paper, but might be better used elsewhere for most people.

The 6” traveler same sole in free range is like a slipper after short break in

That double stuff is a gorgeous leather for sure... Takes forever to break in mine are almost kind of comfortable after seven months of non-stop wear. Just got some bison urban loggers zero break in...

I recently saw the Buck brown double stuffed. That is wonderful looking. They offer a belt in both leathers. I am tempted to get one. I have a 64 brown belt and like it a lot.

I am will put up a new video next weekend. They are feeling better. I would like to see the 360 stitchdown. I do wear these all day without any discomfort now. The leather is good looking as well
