We have a (actually on our second) similar Stanley product. The only issue we’ve had is the retraction spring seems to lose power over time. One took about two years to become inoperable. The newer one Is starting to lose force after about a year. Have you noticed any loss of retraction force over your use of the giraffe?
Same issue - the belt is moving but not spinning the drive shaft when the left/right tracking hits a certain point. Submitted a claim this weekend as I was sick of manually spinning it through that area.
@@mitchnewhouse5982 An update. I'm still ticked at the quality, but I reached in and manually twisted the nylon roller track. As I started manually twisitng it, the left-right feed fell back into the track and began working again. Might help yours. From what I understand they have changed that mechansim on the newer models. I would not buy a new one, but at leat this one is working again. Good luck.
Thanks for the one year review. I just purchased one yesterday.
@@jerryw4458 Awesome! I hope you love it!

@@waynegranzin3824 I have not noticed any degradation on the retraction mechanism with my retractable Giraffe reel.
My Giraffe worked for about a season. Save your money and get something else.
@@industrialcomfort Oh man… I’m so sorry to hear that.
My left-right worm gear stopped working after two years. Very light use, always in and out empty. POOR QUALITY. Glad your results were better.
@@carlmelville I’ve heard a bunch of people have the same experience. Did Giraffe replace it?

@ Please let me know if they handle this and get you a replacement. I’m curious how this goes, given some of the other comments I’ve seen.
@@carlmelville I figured out that trick too but the mechism still gets stuck in a certain place.
