RUF SCR & CTR Inspired By Porsche 911

- The original SCR was driven by an engine with six cylinders, 3.2 liter engine displacement and maximum power uprated to 217 hp. The standard engines delivered 180 hp. The SCR carries a large front spoiler with round brake-cooling ducts plus an integrated oil-cooler. At the rear, a whale-tail spoiler was fitted to the engine lid to ensure balanced aerodynamics.
38 years later RUF tied in with this traditional know-how for their well-known, extraordinary performing cars and presented a stunning, new prototype at the 86th International Motor Show in Geneva. This driving machine evolved out of nothing else than the DNA of a species which helped to make the original SCR change the world of sports cars.
This deep feeling of driving pleasure was the motivation to spend another two years of development and testing of the prototype. RUF wanted to create a unique, state-of-the-art, gentleman-driver sports car for those who prefer the soundtrack of a normally-aspirated engine. The result: our brand new “RUF SCR 2018”. The new car has a carbon fibre monocoque chassis and a full carbon fibre body-shell reinforced by an integrated roll cage (IRC). The push-rod suspension on both axles allows the powerful, normally-aspirated 6-cylinder boxer-engine, with a displacement of 4.0 liters, to exploit the car’s potential to the full. Now 510 hp meet less than 1300 kg of weight packaged in an elegant, state-of-the-art carbon fibre suit.

What I like most about Ruf is that they don't care about flash. It's All about performance and being understated - being humble. When I first learned about their philosophy, I liked them immediately. And their monstrous performances speaks for itself - for decades!

RUF doesn't copy anyone. Their product is unique. Ruf vehicles are new and manufacturers it's own vehicles. So I don't know why people are comparing it to Singer, who make great restorations of the 911 with modern upgrades. Why didn't they show the 3rd car there. It looks good with the two tone paint work. Mr. Ruf is a legend and a true gentleman.

Singer should be flattered to be compared with Ruf. Congrats to Singer for the success they’ve had but they are a modern resto-mod phenomenon. Ruf on the other hand... where do I start? I know where, go watch the original Yellow Bird Nurburgring video from 1987. Then come give me a thumbs up 👍🏻

The 911 was my dream car as a child and I was born in 1970. Vintage performance resto-mods are the rage in the US, and this beauty of a car is awesome. The performance specs are phenomenal. The idea of the bespoke, custom, boutique, exclusive, understated, sleeper presentation is hyper-cool. The price is gross and extraordinary. The RUF story/background coincides perfectly with the vehicles they produce. I'm a huge fan of Mr. Ruf and his remarkable articulation of the English language, which is a secondary language. The man doesn't even have an accent. A large percentage of Americans (USA) don't have his vocabulary and ability to articulate the language. Here comes my critique: For every genuine moment this video portrays, the small-company production value discounts the value of why I would spend a fortune on a RUF vehicle. I'd be happy to manage their marketing in the North American market.
We can't even call this a car. This is the state of the art masterpiece.

I did a bit more research and have found several comparable factors.
1) The Ruf has slightly more horsepower and torque than a Singer. Most importantly, the Ruf weighs 600 pounds more than a Singer! That's a huge weight increase! Apples to Apples it looks like the Singer has the edge on performance but we will wait and see.
2) In terms of external styling I could see the Porsche community being split. Some people will prefer the Ruf while others will prefer the Singer. At the moment, I'm giving the edge to Singer in this department.
3) As far as the interior is concerned, the Singer has got Ruf beat hands down. No contest.
4) Another important factor is price. I've always felt that Singer's prices are exhorbitant but I can't believe that a Singer will now be a "bargain" compared to the price of a Ruf. That's crazy.
As it stands I'm 80% in camp Singer and 20% in camp Ruf. This might seem bad for Ruf but they are the first Porsche customizer that is a real challenger to Singer. There have been many wannabe-challengers but none of them has come close to competing with Singer. The Porsche Ruf SCR is promising. Competition is good.
These cars are not Porsches, completely custom carbon chassis and they dont have Porsche VIN numbers, they're RUF
I like the fact that Ruf is authentic to its own car design philosophy over the years and most importantly, no existing 964 was sacrificed to make it.
To me, this purposeful interior is far more appealing than the OTT Singer.
Your mileage may vary. The Singer is a beautiful crafted and obsessed over car by its designer and drives great based on reviews that I trust. Phenomenal machine.
The CTR might be a bit edgy because of the power to weight ratio. The NA powered SCR is probably perfect and good match to the Singer.

2021: i continue to don't understand what happened with these 2 beauty cars! No one about CTR and SCR was delivered to customers, and it's very sad because Singer and Gunter Werks are delivered tons of cars.

The entire car is RUF design with a partnership with Vela Engineering. Zero Porsche on these new cars. IMO they are perfection and my dream car

650k USD for SCR and 750k for CTR with the later being sold out already. Only 50 to be built. The SCR will be limited to 12-15 cars per year with no cap on production which makes both HIGHLY rare and collectors cars that are made to be driven hard more than parked like most top dollar cars like Pagani. I love Pagani, older cars, too so no disrespect to the Pagani family

All people aren't made to stand in front of a camera, these people act like most people act in front of a camera, awkwardly. Though I'd say it's charming in a way they are doing it themselves instead of hiring professionals, it shows of honesty and decency and family pride.

I can’t jump on the positive band wagon...I’m sure the car is cool but they did a horrible job of showing it. Didn’t see anything on the interior shots, nothing of engine compartment etc. First he said seven speed manual, then six. He did not seem comfortable talking about the car.

Estonia is a hard core car girl and a big part of the RUF business as she organizes all of the RUF car family meets and trips. She is legit and was probably only uncomfortable as RUF has never presented a car like this due to Geneva being canceled and English is not her first or second language so ease up a bit. Both were probably still is disarray because of the sudden cancelation of the motor show.
