This was one of the first songs that I've listened from Falsettos and it was kinda "meh". But after I listened to the whole soundtrack and watched the professionally recorded OBC show, this song and scene is super unsettling to me. It's like that feeling when something is wrong and off the grid, but you can't put your finger on it. The flow is broken and the connection was severed. And it's all done on purpose. William Finn is such a genius.
I swear the second I heard something bad is happening I realized either Marvin or Whizzer was going to die and I have seldom been this upset during a musical.
I knew how the musical ended before I watched it and all the way through when they were saying everything will be alright I was in tears cause I knew it wasn't going to be and that pain doesn't go away
