"Whizzer screws too much to see, what a joy's monogamy, what a joy is saving his joys for one man" this implies that Whizzer tended to sleep around, even when they were together. so, knowing this, we can assume that he continued to sleep around-- probably MORE so --when they were broken up in that two year period. also, in you gotta die sometime, Whizzer says, "I don't smoke, don't do drugs" HIV transfers through bodily fluids like blood and semen. the most common ways people get HIV is through sex and sharing needles, and since Whizzer says "I don't smoke, don't do drugs," it's safe to assume he got it through gay sex. it usually takes about 2-15 years (give or take a few depending on someone's health) for HIV to turn into stage 3 aids, so Whizzer probably got HIV while he was with Marvin, but probably only developed into aids somewhere between late 1980 to early 1981. what makes this even sadder is that because at the time they had only just discovered the virus, there was no treatment of any information about it or about how it spreads, so Marvin is probably going to die within a few years after this musical takes place. I also think I read somewhere that after Whizzer and (after the musical takes place) Marvin die, Trina ends up committing because of their deaths?
