Hidden roof are more expensive than the "normal roof" in the short & long run. For instance iuf you build a 3 bedroom house, you must have 2 to 4 different areas (gatters) where water will stream down frm the roof. these gatters are made by a concentrated mix of motor, water proofing materials, more bricks to hide the water system, pipes, and metal works to make the aggregate more solid. these are all expenses that you'll never incur in normal roof.
Also, by nature & by design, bricks are just sand and cement the do not last long when they're consistently exposed to water, hidden roofs will make this reality a nightmare after 3 to 5 years if you're lucky. The normal roof allows the metal sheets to protect the bricks hence 30years down the line there's little or no brick decay and fungus accumulation.
Yiu can mix anti fungi agents while building and painting the house but they won't last!.
Lastly, the water collected from the hidden roof pipes will surely flood your environment and the neighbour's, which is costly and unsettling.
Congrats on the educational video but it's important for people to know that the disadvantages go further than just cosmetics and make ups of th house after a decade.
    MuchLove!

This is the misconception that hidden roof is low cost…. I respectfully disagree. You may be saving on cost of wood, labor, and quantity of roofing sheets, however, you will also incur cost of building the rain gutters: iron rods, sand, stones, cement, wood, labor, tiles, and other waterproofing materials. Comparing both, the cost savings is insignificant if not the same. Speaking from experience.
Hidden roofs makes the building beautiful, but again beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

I don't think hidden roof makes the building beautiful, quite the opposite. In addition, its have not to do with tradicional African architecture.

with a Hidden roof, if you get the right materials and well installed, there will be no/low maintenance. Ghana has a poor installation mechanism when it comes to Hidden Roofs.
with a Hidden roof, there are materials needed.. Roof Cap(parapet design) and Water proof material for the roof; not Bitumen.
