It's estimated that 2/3 of the original story was gutted when it was fully converted to Star Fox Adventures. Considering what I've read of the original story on the Rare site, I can believe it. The original scope of Dinosaur Planet dwarfs that of Star Fox Adventures, and the real threat makes Andross look minute in comparison. Hopefully we get the original in its entirety, but we'll see.
@@junosoft Hrm, seems my reply got deleted. Anyway, if you look for the rarethief site, you'll find a condensed version of the original Dinosaur Planet story, makes the SFA story look minute in comparison.
@@junosoft I guess it was done that way as to not spoil the ending, which might not have been completed at the time of the beta. I know Rare really wanted to finish the game, but replacing Sabre with Fox might've doomed the game, sad to say. :(
Though I liked this game as a kid, there was a lot about it that, looking back, really didn't flow correctly. Like, the mention of Krystal's backstory at the start, never brought up again, --how she ever got to Dinosaur Planet/Sauria in the first place, when from what we saw of her she didn't have access to a ship of her own - else why wear a tribal garb and ride on the back of one of the natives of the planet when she could just fly herself?-- (Remembered that at the end, she did in fact have a ship; we see her flying it up the Great Fox) What role she was supposed to play besides Fox rescuing her or her being basically a tutorial portion of the game? It really feels like she was supposed to play a bigger role and they just skimmed over it to rush the game. Yeah, I gather she was apparently able to channel the Krazoa's power and Andross was using that as part of the process to revive himself, but we heard so little about it it just seems like a shoehorned explanation, especially when we don't really know how he knew about her or if that was some way connected to the death of her parents; I really feel there should have been more playable sections with her to emphasize how she was able to channel their power, and that was why she was targetted; maybe for part of the game she's on the run trying to hide from the Sharpclaw but they eventually catch up to her, requiring Fox to save her toward the end. On that note, there's also the rather rushed end portion of the game. We don't get to fight General Scales, nor get any context on Andross or why he was there. He literally shows up at the very end of the game, with no buildup and no hint that he was in any way involved, or even why he was on Dinosaur Planet in the first place. I would guess he went there to recover after losing to Fox in the events of Lylat Wars, using the planet's remote location to stay hidden, but that's just a theory. It would have worked much better if they'd had it that the Sharpclaw were rebuilding his body in exchange for him providing them weapons and helping General Scales on his conquest; they could have even hinted at this by Fox discovering that the Sharpclaw were using Venomian technology, further adding to the mystery. But instead, Andross kind of just shows up out of nowhere, with Scales not even being aware of his existence yet doing as he was told by him; Scales didn't even get to be penultimate boss, just a really underutilised supporting character, which really sucks after all the buildup he got. To top off the bad moves, Falco showed up completely out of the blue without any buildup either. Between him and Andross arriving like that, they feel more like hasty additions by someone who just wanted them there, rather than they were ever planned to be in the game at all. So, yeah. A way better way to do the ending, to summarize - there's a lot more detail that could go into this but I'll keep it short for a sort of foundation. Fox fight General Scales - a PROPER fight, winning the last Krazoa Spirit from him, and uses it to release Krystal, but then Scales ambushes Fox and wounds him. Krystal takes back her staff, and fights off a battalion of Sharpclaw and an already wounded General Scales to protect Fox. When they fall, that is when Andross reveals himself, taunting Scales for his weakness and telling him he's of no further use to him, and revealing the reason he had trapped Krystal was because she could channel the power of the Krazoa, which could have been more detailed at the start of the game too. A wounded Fox stumbles to his Arwing and engages his old enemy despite him being in no condition to fight. Peppy and Slippy put out a call for help, knowing Fox is in danger, and Falco, despite the issues that drove him away from the team to begin with, answers the call and rushes in to help him; even playing all that out in a cutscene could have been enough. Thumbs up if you think this could have been a way better idea for an ending. I'd give the game a 5/10. Decent pacing, fun gameplay, but terrible ending, too many plot gaps, and a lot of missed opportunities.
1:19 this part with scales was so bizarre - hes just his model with AI of normal enemies and even has the same sound effect, and the cutscenes triggers if you take out your weapon, if you keep it away hell just stand there. You can also lure scales out of his spawn point before the cutscene starts by approaching the weird water shape - its not even a bit hard the believability of that scene breaks very easily and even as a kid i thought it was very weird that he had no boss battle - that really kind of botched his character not that it had much going on but hes the main villain and we didnt even get to fight him - very very clearly a victim of deadlines /out of budget what a bizarre thing to leave in the cutting room floor still love the game
I've used to played and owned it this game for years when I was a child through a teenager back then. It took me years to beat entire game but as young adult I already beated the whole game more than 12 times now. The reason why I even literally really stuck with it it's because the tug of war level and I have to be careful and focused tapping the buttons while Starfox can't lose itself falling into the huge hole pit. But regardless, I haven't play this game for 7 years.. I feel like I should've keep all my GameCube games forever. Yep totally the stupidest thing I've ever done 😓

With all this Dinosaur Planet fervor comes Starfox Adventure fervor. I’m hooking up my Cube right now to play this; one of my favorite games on that platform.
RARE have always been like that, Donkey Kong Country, Killer Instinct and Conker's Bad Fur Day to name a few. This game doesn't look great because of RARE pushing the boundries of the consoles capability. It looked so good because the console was quite powerful in itself to do it. Look at the Resident Evil games for the GC. Graphically speaking they are worlds ahead of the Xbox and PS2's graphics. People can argue which is best for gameplay, games and performance but in the graphics department the Gamecube has them all beat.
@@francisnguyen6349Do you hope that will gonna be the Star Fox Adventure Zero game? And looks like Fox McCloud got himself a new girlfriend in the dinosaur world. 👍
Am I the only one who finds it odd that at the beginning of the game, the only ones you can understand without a translator is the Warpstone and the Shopkeeper?
One of the main things that pissed me off about Adventures was how it relegated Krystal to a damsel in distress rather than allowing us to still play as her as a duotagonist. That and replacing Scales with Andross as the final boss, that was the most bullshit plot twist.

The original scope of Dinosaur Planet dwarfs that of Star Fox Adventures, and the real threat makes Andross look minute in comparison. Hopefully we get the original in its entirety, but we'll see.
@@Radley1982 Could you link the story
@@junosoft Hrm, seems my reply got deleted. Anyway, if you look for the rarethief site, you'll find a condensed version of the original Dinosaur Planet story, makes the SFA story look minute in comparison.
@@Radley1982 I read there. Got disappointed as there was no written ending
This is by far my favorite game ever. I have two tattoos dedicated to it and more to come
also my favourite
Do you have instagram for watch it?
Congratulations Ryan Lee and your hard work
All these old games. I never remember getting past the first 20 minutes. For some reason I would just restart over and over again.
Best star fox game

Fox - Why, you little....!
Do you like Fox Mccloud?
Why you little dino turd...
When I was a kid I never noticed how cocky Fox was lol
1:19 this part with scales was so bizarre - hes just his model with AI of normal enemies and even has the same sound effect, and the cutscenes triggers if you take out your weapon, if you keep it away hell just stand there. You can also lure scales out of his spawn point before the cutscene starts by approaching the weird water shape - its not even a bit hard
the believability of that scene breaks very easily and even as a kid i thought it was very weird that he had no boss battle - that really kind of botched his character not that it had much going on but hes the main villain and we didnt even get to fight him - very very clearly a victim of deadlines /out of budget what a bizarre thing to leave in the cutting room floor
still love the game
It’s so cheesy but the first time I played this game and saw Andross I was legit shook to my core such a plot twist
1:00:56 I almost crapped myself when I first played this part
I almost crap myself whenever I hear General Pepper speak. He sounds like Nappa.

Gonna get the dinoballs right Fox?.. Fox? Fox? Fox?
Goddammit nappa
Scariest boss in the whole game for me
Krystal is so very beautiful.
Krystal should've had more gameplay then Fox did.
1:23:14 I Love You, Falco Lombardi!!! 😍🥰💙
Thanks for explaining Trickys color change in the description, I was wondering about his color change! :)
36:59 what is he talking about? What test?
The “Cloudrunners”/pterosaurs having birdlike anatomy is bothering me to no end.
True humans cannot except that reptiles have feelings too due to our arrogance so whenever a reptile is a good guy they make it mammal or bird like.
i notice something at minute 50:15
When Fox gets up to the Arwing, Tricky is not with him, but when reach dinosaur planet, Tricky gets out of the ship.
He was already inside it.
Cute little stowaway.
Falco is like hey fox nice girl you got there 😏
😂🤣
You're funny!
Falco: Oh, so you’re my friend’s girlfriend?
Fox: We just met.
With all this Dinosaur Planet fervor comes Starfox Adventure fervor. I’m hooking up my Cube right now to play this; one of my favorite games on that platform.
This thing looks like a damn early Xbox 360 game. It’s crazy what rare could do despite hardware limitations.
This nigga fox made the best expressions when he saw crystal his temperature is rising lol

@@francisnguyen6349Do you hope that will gonna be the Star Fox Adventure Zero game? And looks like Fox McCloud got himself a new girlfriend in the dinosaur world. 👍
To save the Dinosaur 🦕 planet will be the universe yes.
38:20 Fox: what The!? T: look out 😮 ???: Hit the deck!
Is it wierd that this game has better facial expressions than Assault during cutscenes?
Rareware was king of animation at the time hands down
Am I the only one who finds it odd that at the beginning of the game, the only ones you can understand without a translator is the Warpstone and the Shopkeeper?
The amount of inconsistencies in the game are infuriating
If Krystal became a fighter in smash wouldn’t that mean she’s a rare created character similar to diddy and banjo
One of the main things that pissed me off about Adventures was how it relegated Krystal to a damsel in distress rather than allowing us to still play as her as a duotagonist. That and replacing Scales with Andross as the final boss, that was the most bullshit plot twist.
I love fox's personality in this game!
Krystal is dependening on you fox to get the last of the spirit and return it to her so she can be saved
Ok!
Absolutely

Freeing that dinosaur with the 4 fire blast is literal pain.

This is a very beautiful game like it or not
I forgot how much fox just gets fucking BODIED in this game. he falls off cliffs, gets knocked out in various ways and generally just has the shit kicked out of him.
and honnestly I get so angry when I see people who talk about this game and are like "tHe StOrY iS aBoUt FoX sAvInG a GiRL. iTs SeXiSt"
1) the main goal of the game is to LITTERALLY PREVENT A PLANET OF SENTIENT DINOS from being blasted apart from the inside
2) saving crystal is the SECONDARY GOAL, and with his only company being a Robot, a Frog and a Rabbit -who are ALL DUDES If I may point out- on long ass hauls through space, his reaction of seeing crystal and being like "OH NO SHES HOT" is an extremely justifiable reaction
and Im pretty sure in one of the command endings he ends up being super depressed after she leaves him cus he loves her so flippin much that he ends up having to retire from space merc and he and Falco make a racing team? IDK I havent played it since forever
Yes Fox and Falco refit their Arwings into F-ZERO racers, which has some interesting implications
54:24 t: duh 🙄 stupid question of course we wanna see that!
I played this game on an arcade lookin system while I was in the hospital. I hope i can get the chance to play this again one day. Maybe as a remake
I mean hey if you have a good pc you could download a rom and emulate the game, that's how I did it.
6:34 did anyone else get scared of this scene first time seeing as a kid.
Yes
Krystal, your first furry krush
I always wondered whatever happened to Krystal's original mission about her parents. After the intro dialog, we never heard anything about it ever since.
Her planet got destroyed. She was the only (known for now) survivor.
@Superemie401 where'd you get that Info? I tried looking and couldn't find it anywhere. I've always been interested in the star fox story plot since snes with Fox and Fara. I loved the comics from the Nintendo Power magazine.
