This song absolutely nailed the mood at the end of the game so perfectly. I never heard of the band before when I played it back in 2007, and I absolutely loved it! I figured any and all survivors of the war echoed a sentiment such as this (through which this song expresses flawlessly): "Just what was this whole war about?" "What DID we fight for?" "Was it even worth all the death and destruction and heartache that it left in its wake?" "Where is the sense in any of all this?" Countless broken lives and shattered hearts yearning for answers.
Unfortunately you perfectly described 'War' overall and that was something I loved about that game, the series overall: You are playing amazing air war games but they nearly always, at least the strangereal games transport an direct message: War sucks, its nothing worth and there are no winners.
Everything about this video makes me long for the past. The shitty 240p, the song, and of course the footage. I don't remember exactly how my Ace Combat journey began. I believe I played a couple levels of Ace Combat 5 at my friend's house. Her dad had a PS2 and let me play it whenever I came over. I didn't really know what the game was about and I fucking sucked at flying. I was probably 7 at the time. I think when I was also seven, my mother and I were at the local Blockbuster and I was looking for cool looking games to (permanently) rent. I saw a game with two F-15s and a bunch of explosions and I was like "I HAVE TO GET THIS". I beat Ace Combat Zero that weekend. Then I realized that the name of the game I'd played at my friend's house was called Ace Combat 5. I asked her dad if I could borrow it and he said I could keep it because he sucked at it and never played it anyways. It was at this point that I truly discovered the Ace Combat world. The sense of wonder and discovery I had when learning about this war between these fictional countries was amazing.
I first started with Ace Combat 04 without a save card and and on normal difficulty I never got past level 5 but it was one of the best video games I ever played and years later I am making my own collection where I have Air Combat, Ace Combat 04, Ace Combat Zero and even Ace Combat 5 ( which I had to drive an hour each way to obtain) and with proper save cards this time.
3-4 years ago, at the age of 16-17, I wondered how Ace Combat OST's sounded before I'd played any of the games and now here I am, as a fan. This was not the first song I came across though. I must have started with the OST of 6 or 5.

This game should totally have a HD remaster!! or even better, they should make HD remasters for all the Ace Combat games as some part of anniversary celebration!! Even If it's worth $70, imma still buy it coz they all worth it!! XD
I know I'm 4 years late on your comment but they had AC5 as a pre-order bonus for Ace Combat 7 on the PS4 in early 2019, although Xbox One version got AC6 as the pre-order bonus.

Watching this really made me cry, just due to the fact that this was such a huge part of my childhood, playing Ace Combat 4, 5 and 0, along with the original two on PS1. I know it wasn't bad, but Ace Combat: AH disgusted me and I really didn't like the new systems they added or how they changed the game from Strangereal... I'd pay anything just to have such a massive, and quite influential, part of my childhood brought onto next gen consoles.

Truly this is the heart of Ace Combat. It made you have feels. You cared about your crew and wingmates, despised the Base Commander, and felt like you were the hope to the guys on the ground. You felt a grugining respect for your enemies and true accomplishment with the ending. Best Ace Combat ever

A war broke out between Osea and Yuktobania perpetrated by Nord Belka which is based on Nazi Germany. In the series, 15 years has passed since a national socialist Belka was defeated in a war after it detonated seven nuclear weapons in the Walderich Mountains, and yes since Belka is based on Germany Belka speaks German. Also, just like in the film The Sum Of all fears, Belka tired to make a comback by trying to get rid of Osea and Yuktobania by kidnapping pacifist leaders of Osea, President Vincent Harding and Yuktobania Prime Minister Nikanor Seryozha Victorvich Nikanor and let warmongers on each side to fight each other with planted Belkan aggressors to accelerate war between Osea and Yuktobania. That's how Neo-Nazis in the film Sum of All Fears tried to make America and Russia have a nuclear war so they can re-take Europe into a another Nazi empire.

I'm about to turn 21 and don't remember much of the 2000s very much but this was the 2nd Ace Combat I ever played but I played this when I was about 12 and this is very nostalgic to me even though I didn't experience the game when it first came out.

Ace Combat Fan and Acepedia called out to the fans recently to help translate Ace Combat content to different languages. Now, I don't think everyone can do that, but if we can all work on getting word out about this awesome series and growing the fanbase then the potential for profit may become a greater and greater motivation for Project Aces to remake the games. I've heard whispers on the wind of interest from Project Aces in remaking the games... well, if we can make it more worth their while, they just may do it! Let's get out there and spread the word!

Ratchet and Clank ‘going commando’ and ‘deadlocked’ are also a lot of fun, just a bit goofy weak story but awesome: Midnight Club 3, NFL blitz pro, Burnout revenge
Great storytelling, amazing gameplay, jaw-dropping grafics for a PS2-game and brilliant soundtrack. This game was a major part of my teenage years. And I still list it on my top 10. Oh, and this is a great song.
After playing and hearing this song, I imagined myself walking on the runway, wearing a Razgriz squadron jacket, crossing along the hangar while birds fly behind me... Remembering the whole war from how it began to how it ended... From who died be it an enemy or an ally or Chopper... And as the chorus comes in, everything just shifts in slow motion... And as the end comes in, all I could do was look up at the sky as a flock of birds begin to obscure the camera's view of me...

4 years ago, I beat AC5, I then went to my laptop and watched this very video and rocked out to it, I know am back after 4 years without AC and all I feel is my childhood returning back to my body in forms of goosebumps and a careless feel for the world

Haha. I probably posted this video to IGN back when I was working there in the bad old days. I was never a big fan of the band, but the song nailed the tone the game was going for. Looking back I still like the minimalist storytelling of Ace Combat 4 best. Shattered Skies did something great with really simple pieces. But Ace 5 was no slouch.

AC5 helped me to decide what I wanted to do when I grew up, which is pushing F-22s to the limit. Favorite game of all time.
I actually became a pilot thanks to this game.
And it gave me the hope that I might become an aeronautical engineer one day. Man, that's a game to play once in his live.

After spending so much of my childhood with this game, I stumbled upon this. All the memories. Such a great game.

Do you have any recommendations for PS2 games with a strong narrative? I grew up with a handful of PS2 games I sunk hundreds of hours into as a kid, but just recently started collecting for PS2 again and getting into some of the gems I missed out on.
@@xHypnoHousex Shadow of the colossus, Ace Combat 5, jak II. Battlefront 1&2. There are a lot more, those are just the ones I remember replaying frequently.
Ratchet and Clank ‘going commando’ and ‘deadlocked’ are also a lot of fun, just a bit goofy
weak story but awesome: Midnight Club 3, NFL blitz pro, Burnout revenge
Great storytelling, amazing gameplay, jaw-dropping grafics for a PS2-game and brilliant soundtrack. This game was a major part of my teenage years. And I still list it on my top 10.
Oh, and this is a great song.

After playing and hearing this song, I imagined myself walking on the runway, wearing a Razgriz squadron jacket, crossing along the hangar while birds fly behind me... Remembering the whole war from how it began to how it ended... From who died be it an enemy or an ally or Chopper... And as the chorus comes in, everything just shifts in slow motion... And as the end comes in, all I could do was look up at the sky as a flock of birds begin to obscure the camera's view of me...

Nelliel Kuroka Asuna but if you think about Cipher pretty much disappeared after zero thats why the reporter was looking for him for the documentary and by 2010 he would have been in his 50 60s so he might ve been to old to fly combat sorties sadly

4 years ago, I beat AC5, I then went to my laptop and watched this very video and rocked out to it, I know am back after 4 years without AC and all I feel is my childhood returning back to my body in forms of goosebumps and a careless feel for the world

Haha. I probably posted this video to IGN back when I was working there in the bad old days. I was never a big fan of the band, but the song nailed the tone the game was going for.
Looking back I still like the minimalist storytelling of Ace Combat 4 best. Shattered Skies did something great with really simple pieces. But Ace 5 was no slouch.
