I personally think students should stick to the grammar rules while being aware of the more colloquial manner of saying something. Thank you for the great lesson.
Glad you enjoyed it! I like highlighting to my students specific parts of the grammar that in colloquial speech would sound too formal, and not very “natural”, but of course, ultimately it’s the student’s choice. Thank you for leaving a comment 👍
The language purists appear to want to ossify grammar (and that probably includes most if not all languages) The truth is that language is always organic and evolving especially in "the street"
Obrigada, Fernando, a great video and helpful explanations and examples. In my opinion, it's useful to know both formal and informal language. I picked up on the "o/ele" difference when I read short stories in Brazilian Portuguese.
Well I do have a friend who is Brazilian and he is a grammar nut!! But he never corrects me states I am doing well and understands me. After this review its confirmed I use both forms 😊😊
É isso ai. Good lesson there for portuguese learners.
Valeu!

Having learned Portuguese in Brazil by immersion, the common grammar usage of these examples sounds more correct to me. It's hard to unlearn it! 😜

Que bom, Diane!! It’s good that you are familiar with both the formal and informal forms - you can choose between the two! 😊
Well to be honest I just guess BUT I did get your quiz correct !
