Truly inspiring!! I’m also a black girl in tech and a Computer Science graduate and I was totally feeling what you said in the beginning, since I also didn’t start with any coding experience :D I also found my interest for UX/ UI design through an interaction design class and I’m currently trying to get a foothold in that field.
Damn congrats on getting the job at Spotify! It definitely wasn't easy. I would be really curious to see what case studies you presented and how you presented them. Keep up the good work!

Hello Victoria! Thank you for this video! I am currently in my last quarter as an undergrad and I am thinking about product design as a career. I'm not going to lie, I got really excited when I saw your video! It's the first one ive been able to find that has a black womans perspective. I would love to connect with you and ask you more questions!
wow Victoria this is amazing....I'm so inspired by this.....Congratulations on your Spotify gig and please how do you come up with project ideas for your portfolio

yess! I love meeting fellow yellow jackets! keep going, I had so many interviews before getting to Spotify so just know the role you're meant to get is waiting for you! good luck!
Cool video! I love the valuable info you included. I'm a Field Service Engineer and your video really inspired me think about making a video about my job. I've been doing tech reviews and that channel Tech Connect did pretty well (77000 subs) but maybe I need to talk more about my other job more. Keep up the good work. Subbed!
"They had no business hiring me". The older I get, the more I see the fallacy in that. I am in a different IT field than you, but.. school gets you started, however it doesn't really prepare you for work. I am starting to feel like it can't prepare you, because learning the basics is tough enough (and today, sometimes almost impossible). Sure, there are people that are different. They have taught themselves and/or managed to get experience outside of university. Having hired a bunch of people now I have learned that you need to find people you can teach/shape into what you need. The case of a perfect fit is rare. What you need, as someone fresh out of university, is a foot in the door.
You summerize it very well. I will always be grateful for that role because it taught me so much about how to be a team player and understand other people and perspectives.
Hi Victoria, thank you so much for sharing your experience and helping everyone! I'm curious about the design exercise - what is the design topic and what is the process of it? I'm trying to get some real topics to practice because I'm also interviewing a music app company.. I hope I can get that job..and Stockholm is my fav city! Hope you enjoy your life in that beautiful city.
Hi! I am currently debating on fully committing to the SVA Products of Design MFA. I was wondering if I could get your thoughts on the program and whether it was worth it in the end! thank you so much
As an introvert, I actually find it challenging to know what to say to people that I don't know ! How can I effectively network in these situations? :((((
For Product Design do you need to do any programming like building websites or software? because like you i started out thinking computer science was what i wanted to do but i hate maths so now i have decided i want to do product design but i cant actually find any info on what i would actually be doing
Have you had any time listening to Swedish music and what do you thnk of it. I´m asking this. Spotify is after all most know for the musc you can find there
Hey, your video is so good. I've enjoyed watching your perspective on the journey you've taken. You're smart and strategic. If you do not mind can you share your perspective on a question I have. I have a background in Entrepreneurship, dropped out of college due to the working full time. I always kept up with learning, as it be reading, journaling and research on my own interest. Recently, I decided to change my career and get into tech. Started off with the intentions to learn about coding. Stumble upon Product design, similar experience to yours. So, I decided to take a bootcamp "Flatiron to be exact." I am mid way into program. I feel great about all the information I'm absorbing about UX/UI process's. I even study outside of the program, to refine my skills I learn in the intensive program. My life consist only to learn Product design at the moment. My question to you is, now that you're apart of a corporation company in product design. Is there people in your company without degrees? People who went to bootcamps? Is there a difference between people without and with? What is your viewpoint of a college degree? I ask becuase you're a deep thinker and you plan your next move. You went to grad school to enhance your skills, but you ended up questioning if you should of went. I apologies for writing such a long paragraph. You're perspective will be quite interesting but, you've also inspired me to network and reach out. Thank you Victoria
i have learned figma and xd etc , when it comes to prototyping , what software would you recommond to get a job , invision ? or any others u can suggest that most empoyers ask

It seems that the industry is moving more towards figma. At least most companies I have worked with use it
@@victoriaahh what do you think of protopie etc for micro interactions , how important are they to learn ? to secure the job
Stockholm!? 😮congrats! 🎉 did you need a visa or citizenship there? Or did they let you use US citizenship? Working abroad sounds like so amazing 😭😍
