Would love for you to do a video on how to shop good quality clothes (fabric blends, good brands, sites etc). Basically a shopping for dummies (i would really love it as someone that at this point need to replace a huuuge chunk of my clothes, haven't decided what clothes i want nor can deduce whether a garment is good quality or not - im basically new to fashion. I really loved the vibe of you makeup for dummies but would love it for fashion and picking good quality clothes) EDIT: thanks for the tips everyone :) honestly it just makes me even more excited for the idea of a video with this topic because it really seems like there is some sort of checklist i can go through to figure out if a clothing item will last (would be nice with a similar one for figuring out what style you want to wear and then what type of clothes to buy - i already feel hannah has a lot on translating pins into style things that she likes but i don't have any kinda style as it is so can't seem to make a board that allings with what i actually want because i have no idea what kinda style i like- not having any kinda style is a very different problem from wanting to expand on your current style). But if you look at pictures of outfits on people, don't you ever see any that you like? If you do, try and focus on why you like them, like, is it the colors they're wearing or the specific items or because something seems super elegant or super edgy or what have you. Then that could be a hint as to which items of clothing you might like on yourself. Also, ask yourself what it is you didn't like about your own clothes (was the fit not great, did the colour not look good on you, etc.). Remember, fashion is supposed to be fun and you don't have to have a perfectly defined style from one day to the next ;) Actually my own style fluctuates quite a bit and I think that's great.
@@HannahLouisePoston - The Patricia Ta products are overrated and overpriced. Their quality is decent, but not exceptional-certainly not high-end. Additionally, many people have reported mold growth in his eyeshadows, and he hasn't addressed any of these concerns. Be cautious when using his products.
For anyone interested, Maybelline’s ultra slim Express Brow Pencil is an excellent affordable dupe of the Merit Brow Pencil (in my opinion). It comes in 8 shades, lasts SO SO LONG and so far hasn’t break me out yet (been using it for a year now). Highly recommend it! Thank you for another amazing video Amanda dear! ❤

Recognizing the merit product from the shape and color of the package made me realize I should reassess my purchasing of merit (no matter how lovely it is)
I wanted several things and talked myself out of all of them… except one. I like to peruse, and I found myself touching the Giorgio Armani eye tints. I happened to pick up a color that I’ve been in search of for *literal years* at this point. I had this old morphe palette from about 10 years ago that I only liked one shade in. It’s the 35O palette and the yellow in the second column, second row. It’s this lovely subtle yellow shimmer with a pink shift. Absolutely no idea if it looks good on me but I love it. Whilst depotting one day I shattered it. I’ve kept it in a small baggy for years, just hoping one day I’d find something similar and I did in the Armani. It was a such a moment. As it turns out, I don’t love the formula, but it did scratch that itch for me enough to finally let the baggy go. Surely a ten year old powder is far too gone to hold on indefinitely 😂.
I’m so glad you got the lip butter balm set. I also got it a few weeks ago and every time I use the shade brown sugar I think, “Hannah would love this” lol
Amongst all the things I love about your videos and well, just your personality overall, is that we are SO linked when it comes to how we want our makeup. We wants browns, not orange, but brown. A little plum in it? Sure but still ultimately a brown and we're good to go (and not upset at the greys or taupes either). Also matching on lips wanting them generally to be glossy, a kiss of colour, and hydrated. Knowing I'll not just have a fun and/or relaxing video but also someone matching my aesthetics is so satisfying and to date you're the only content creator I watch who does! I'm also delighted you chose "Still at the Club," which was the duo I imagined would appeal to you. That was the one that tickled my magpie brain because to me it's the cool-toned version of Auric Cosmetics' "Defiance" Smoke Reflect duo with the sumptuous chocolate brown satin cream shadow and the sparkling gold topper. Just like with Defiance, I'd love to wear just the dark satin by itself in a light wash over the whole lid, it makes such a gorgeous sultry subtle "bedroom eyes brown" smoky eye. (Did you happen to plan out your nail coordination with the Patrick Ta duo or was that just a fun coincidence LOL)

I really love that you talked about Patrick Ta in a vacuum. No discourse or promotion except your genuine self. I made an effort to go to Sephora for the Summer Fridays minis just the same purpose you had which is four little ones everywhere and I had not tried any of them, a good price to try the formula and shades. I am with you had I known I would have just bought my favorite which is the Brown Sugar. It has been convenient to have the little pocket ones for the time being.

I've seen a few creators say they're overpriced for two shades and not great because you'd need more than one to do a full look, but I usually do a one-and-done eye and almost always in these shades! I've got the merit shadows in brun and social and would love some satin/shimmer options (I currently use my highlighter) so I'm adding to my holiday list!

I had the same experience with a full size Summer Fridays balm. I did the same massage method, and that does work to mix it back up, but I don't enjoy doing that every time I want to use it. Right now I'm testing out Rhode, Ole Hendrickson, and Clarins balms. So far, no separation!
I felt the same way during the sephora sale, it was the only product I went in there to get because I knew I’d love it from what I saw online. I love this sultry shine and both colors looks just so beautiful in light. My style is kind of casual but elevated and I felt like this duo was so me in the color and finish! I’m so happy to have this and you can really see the quality on the lid, just felt so elegant and I loved I felt wearing it! Thanks Hannah! And you look gorgeous in it!

Just bought Wet Pebble from Half Magic at ulta and it's really looking similar to that shimmer in that Patrick Ta duo. Maybe a little warmer but I prefer cool browns and it doesn't flip orange on me at all.
I bought the Rephr Shodo brushes. They are exquisite. I am old and like a light touch, and these are very different and perfect for putting down shadow without feeling it is too much. That calligraphy tip is very interesting and they do all the work.
At first, I was like, "Dammit Hannah! Now I want that Patrick Ta duo!" You made it look AH-MAZING. But, then. I crawled myself back to reality. I know it will get lost in all my stuff and probably will never use it. So--I am trying to be adult about all of this. Also, I bought the same Summer Fridays set when it launched. And hate it. I used one and plan on gifting the others as a topper to the real gifts I plan on getting my friends. I do not care for the formula. In my opinion, the Olehendriksen Pout Preserve Peptide Lip Treatment is far superior. Far superior. I bought a holiday duo kit and I am loving it. I don't even know where my opened Summer Fridays balm is. It is so small it is probably in my couch cushion or some other place. Your video brought me joy. I got the mini summer fridays set too, and mine didn't come separated at all. On the contrary, it was a very cold day, when the package was delivered, and I hardly managed to squeeze them out at first. Seems to be a formula that's very susceptible to temperature changes

While I do enjoy mini makeup items every now and then, I think there is one that might be universally useful - if you don’t wear red lipstick for everyday, but want to add Christmasy vibe to your makeup, a blue red mini lipstick is perfect. Got one last year, used it three times and will probably do the same this year😅 that being said it is also something you might get for free with purchase (I got one from hourglass this year and will give it to my sister, who still looks for her perfect red shade). Makeup minis are great for experimenting purposes, but rarely are they good value in pricing or packaging experience. Still, when looking for new formulas or colors, they can be very enjoyable!
I will say, the summer friday minis disappointed me because they have a worse applicator :( I got the set last year and it was much harder to work through them because the lip sensation was nowhere as good. It is not horrible, but it is not as luxe as the full size.
I just got the iMethod hair-like eyebrow pen and I’m in love! They’re super affordable and work really well! Also, I had bought that Patrick Ta Still in the Club shadow, but I hated it, so I returned it! 😂 While I loved the colors, I found that the texture was not what I was hoping for. When it comes to sparkly shadows, I much prefer a creamier texture that I can apply with my fingers. This one was so dry, I just could get what I wanted out of it, even with a base or with a product that transforms powder shadows into liquid shadows. I ended up with glitters in my eyes, and it hurt so bad, my eye was scratched from it! 😢😮 It looks so good on you! Much better than it did on me! It almost looks wet! 😍
Hannah, this is an unusual request (and perhaps one that would not have an ideal place on your channel compared to your other content), but I would LOVE to see you do a video on your "preposition!!!" moments. I know you've caught yourself in a grammatical error in those moments and I'm sure I could look up what that error is, but I would be delighted to hear you explain it to us in your wonderful, Hannah way. (Not just what the error is, which believe is a common one???, but why it irks you, when the reflex first developed, etc.)
I think it was ending the sentence with a preposition, which is traditionally frowned upon (lol see what I did there?). But it's gained more favor in recent years as language evolves so it's more acceptable now in less formal settings.
Me sitting here right now wearing one of my Summer Fridays minis, I do love them! I gave away the regular vanilla because I’m STILL using up the full size one I got over a year ago. The minis I feel like I can actually use up.
This is the first time I skipped the sale. I ordered a few products on your recommendation directly from Refy instead. I was really tempted to order some new blushes from Sephora but then I looked at my blush collection and changed my mind 🙂
I bought a full size of the iced coffee and had that oil issue!! So not just a minis things but I’ve never heard anyone mention it. Considering how well loved and hyped the balms are. I think I may pick up a full of the brown sugar because the pigment pay off does seen nicer to have than the iced coffee which I’m currently just using for hydration VS as a wearable comfy tint to easily complete a look as it doesn’t give much of a coloured effect on my lips, they still look mostly barr. Brown sugar seems as though it will give my lips the type of tint that I was hoping for. Brown sugar and/or hot cocoa 🤔
That eye look is STUNNIN’. That Patrick Ta duo that you picked up is the only thing I ordered from the sale. (Blind buy) I’m so glad it’s the color story I was hoping for, now I can’t wait to get it in the mail!
It's not a mini issue. It's clearly caused by the product sitting on a shelf for a longer period of time. The set is called Summer Fridays, which makes me think it must have come out in the Spring (if not even sooner) and has been in the store for months. But also, I think it's nothing that cannot be fixed by a good shake, it's just the ingredients separating a bit.
Re: mini sizes (20:45ish) - I don't wear mascara every day and so I almost exclusively buy mini mascaras. I bought a standard size in the past year for a special occasion and found that I actually had difficulty applying the product because I wasn't used to the length of the wand anymore! 😂

I have just been patiently waiting and hoping you’d try brown sugar because I had a feeling you’d love it. I do think the set was still worth it because you had a low barrier to try it, you get minis to scatter around your house and now you can use the one you love, make sure you love it, and then buy a full size in the next sale 😂 It’s been my favorite shade as someone who isn’t exactly a shade twin to you but I’m still quite pale and a bit cool neutral and I think it’s so flattering and a bit of a chameleon between warm/cool depending on what you’re wearing. I agree the pigment load is so light you don’t have to worry about it. I can apply without a mirror which I love.
Liquid smoke is actually not fake smoke flavor. It is made from smoke using a very complex process. Kenji Lopez Alt gives a good description of it and how to use it in his blog post about using a soul vide to make ribs. He may have a video too.
I save my list between sales…so these are items I would have bought anyway, but I wait til I can get 20% off. It actually sometimes is really hard to wait! But I take your point too. And I also have those minis and didn’t have any issue with them not being mixed thankfully. I use them mostly over liner, so they are essentially interchangeable for me since the colors are so transparent.
Love the monochromatic makeup look tou did. I also got Patrick Ta eyeshadow in " Still At Rhe Club". I just thought is very flattering in olive skin. It has this taupe, cool undertone.
I think that summer Fridays set is such a great value for money! And you wouldn’t have discovered how much you loved Brown Sugar one 😊 For me the savings event is just a great opportunity to restock my favourites now, but it was very difficult to get to that mindset due to all of the hype coming from social media and the consumerism so deeply rooted in us by the world we currently live in. I love this! I bought one thing during the sale, and returned it when the sample I tried was just so sticky for the whole day. But then I bought the Glossier Stretch concealer and clear balm, without saving $4. Ah, well. It’s really not a great sale. That said, Rephr brushes are so beautiful, and they are currently on sale, SO worth it!!
I always think of mini-sets like flights . . . you get to try a sampling of what is offered so you ultimately can find the full size product you will purchase.

I got the Summer Friday’s lip set too. I liked the concept because I love the formula and I feel like the full size ones are too big, and by the time you get to the end they’re so gross and busted. I feel like the mini size is the perfect size for this product! mine did not have the oil separation issue though…
I love the mini lip set. I tend to lose lippies…or “strategically place” them across multiple bags and locations. If I lose one of these, I won’t be shattered. Mine didn’t have the oil separation, either.
Loved this video; this sale season I only grabbed a sunscreen I will use and a body spray I've been eyeing for months now. I've really enjoyed de influencing content lately as I move away from makeup as the novelty of buying new things and into makeup as an art and something I enjoy. I have a full size of the Brown Sugar and was regretting not getting the wee sizes, thank you for setting me straight! There's so much product in the full size, I wonder if it would be worth getting a few empty squeeze tubes and decanting for omniplacement...you're hardly hurting for prefilled lip treatment components, though :)
The only duo from that Patrick Ta release that interested me is the one you bought. If I was going to go One N Done, it would most likely be a satin bronzey brown shade. I don't buy new makeup during the Sephora sale, I usually just get extra lipbalms & re-up my skincare. I'm not rouge anymore (haven't been for a few years now) so I only get 15%. Unfortunately Ulta doesn't carry The Inkey List. I've really grown to love their watercream & peptide moisturizers. No fragrance, nothing that irritates my sensitive skin & basically drugstore priced.
I wait on the sale for bigger ticket items I want. Like, perfume. 20% off of a $300 perfume is nice. But yes, I agree with you on the premise of just spending to spend on a sale. Great perspective!
Whenever I’m the lightest shade of a concealer (the WA lightest shade is a GREAT match for my peachy saturated neutral fair/light skin) one of my first thoughts is always “oh Hannah won’t have a shade in this!” Similar in what might be my favorite concealer of all time from Make. Theres a whole generation of us out there subconsciously scouting for Hannah-colored complexion products 😂

Recommend turning items inside out/looking inside to guage quality. Also look at fabric type and care instructions.

I don’t buy much other than during the sale so for me, it truly is a savings event :) and I am SOOO happy with what i got. My makeup has never looked better! I got:
1. Ilia face base milky toner
2. Ilia skin blurring stick foundation
3. Dior radiant creamy concealer
4. Saie glowy super gel starglow
5. Kosas cloud set powder in feathery
6. Fenty beauty Gloss bomb Stix in Sorta Selfish
And I use other stuff that I already had but I adore this makeup routine since getting them during the sale. ❤

I really love that you talked about Patrick Ta in a vacuum. No discourse or promotion except your genuine self. I made an effort to go to Sephora for the Summer Fridays minis just the same purpose you had which is four little ones everywhere and I had not tried any of them, a good price to try the formula and shades. I am with you had I known I would have just bought my favorite which is the Brown Sugar. It has been convenient to have the little pocket ones for the time being.

Your review of the eyeshadow duo is so helpful! I've seen a few creators say they're overpriced for two shades and not great because you'd need more than one to do a full look, but I usually do a one-and-done eye and almost always in these shades! I've got the merit shadows in brun and social and would love some satin/shimmer options (I currently use my highlighter) so I'm adding to my holiday list!

I had the same experience with a full size Summer Fridays balm. I did the same massage method, and that does work to mix it back up, but I don't enjoy doing that every time I want to use it. Right now I'm testing out Rhode, Ole Hendrickson, and Clarins balms. So far, no separation!
I felt the same way during the sephora sale, it was the only product I went in there to get because I knew I’d love it from what I saw online. I love this sultry shine and both colors looks just so beautiful in light. My style is kind of casual but elevated and I felt like this duo was so me in the color and finish! I’m so happy to have this and you can really see the quality on the lid, just felt so elegant and I loved I felt wearing it! Thanks Hannah! And you look gorgeous in it!

Just bought Wet Pebble from Half Magic at ulta and it's really looking similar to that shimmer in that Patrick Ta duo. Maybe a little warmer but I prefer cool browns and it doesn't flip orange on me at all.

Rephr brushes (and other quality brushes) are such a game changer
I bought the Rephr Shodo brushes. They are exquisite. I am old and like a light touch, and these are very different and perfect for putting down shadow without feeling it is too much. That calligraphy tip is very interesting and they do all the work.
At first, I was like, "Dammit Hannah! Now I want that Patrick Ta duo!" You made it look AH-MAZING. But, then. I crawled myself back to reality. I know it will get lost in all my stuff and probably will never use it. So--I am trying to be adult about all of this. Also, I bought the same Summer Fridays set when it launched. And hate it. I used one and plan on gifting the others as a topper to the real gifts I plan on getting my friends. I do not care for the formula. In my opinion, the Olehendriksen Pout Preserve Peptide Lip Treatment is far superior. Far superior. I bought a holiday duo kit and I am loving it. I don't even know where my opened Summer Fridays balm is. It is so small it is probably in my couch cushion or some other place. Your video brought me joy. I had chuckles and nodded along to things you were saying. Thank you for what you do!

I got the mini summer fridays set too, and mine didn't come separated at all. On the contrary, it was a very cold day, when the package was delivered, and I hardly managed to squeeze them out at first. Seems to be a formula that's very susceptible to temperature changes

While I do enjoy mini makeup items every now and then, I think there is one that might be universally useful - if you don’t wear red lipstick for everyday, but want to add Christmasy vibe to your makeup, a blue red mini lipstick is perfect. Got one last year, used it three times and will probably do the same this year😅 that being said it is also something you might get for free with purchase (I got one from hourglass this year and will give it to my sister, who still looks for her perfect red shade). Makeup minis are great for experimenting purposes, but rarely are they good value in pricing or packaging experience. Still, when looking for new formulas or colors, they can be very enjoyable!
Yep. I got pat McGrath minis in deep browns and nudes, colours I wouldn't normally, and they have been fine for last few years

I will say, the summer friday minis disappointed me because they have a worse applicator :( I got the set last year and it was much harder to work through them because the lip sensation was nowhere as good. It is not horrible, but it is not as luxe as the full size.
I just got the iMethod hair-like eyebrow pen and I’m in love! They’re super affordable and work really well! Also, I had bought that Patrick Ta Still in the Club shadow, but I hated it, so I returned it! 😂 While I loved the colors, I found that the texture was not what I was hoping for. When it comes to sparkly shadows, I much prefer a creamier texture that I can apply with my fingers. This one was so dry, I just could get what I wanted out of it, even with a base or with a product that transforms powder shadows into liquid shadows. I ended up with glitters in my eyes, and it hurt so bad, my eye was scratched from it! 😢😮 It looks so good on you! Much better than it did on me! It almost looks wet! 😍
Hannah, this is an unusual request (and perhaps one that would not have an ideal place on your channel compared to your other content), but I would LOVE to see you do a video on your "preposition!!!" moments. I know you've caught yourself in a grammatical error in those moments and I'm sure I could look up what that error is, but I would be delighted to hear you explain it to us in your wonderful, Hannah way. (Not just what the error is, which believe is a common one???, but why it irks you, when the reflex first developed, etc.)
I think it was ending the sentence with a preposition, which is traditionally frowned upon (lol see what I did there?). But it's gained more favor in recent years as language evolves so it's more acceptable now in less formal settings.

This is the first time I skipped the sale. I ordered a few products on your recommendation directly from Refy instead. I was really tempted to order some new blushes from Sephora but then I looked at my blush collection and changed my mind 🙂
I bought a full size of the iced coffee and had that oil issue!! So not just a minis things but I’ve never heard anyone mention it. Considering how well loved and hyped the balms are.
I think I may pick up a full of the brown sugar because the pigment pay off does seen nicer to have than the iced coffee which I’m currently just using for hydration VS as a wearable comfy tint to easily complete a look as it doesn’t give much of a coloured effect on my lips, they still look mostly barr. Brown sugar seems as though it will give my lips the type of tint that I was hoping for. Brown sugar and/or hot cocoa 🤔

It's not a mini issue. It's clearly caused by the product sitting on a shelf for a longer period of time. The set is called Summer Fridays, which makes me think it must have come out in the Spring (if not even sooner) and has been in the store for months. But also, I think it's nothing that cannot be fixed by a good shake, it's just the ingredients separating a bit.

Re: mini sizes (20:45ish) - I don't wear mascara every day and so I almost exclusively buy mini mascaras. I bought a standard size in the past year for a special occasion and found that I actually had difficulty applying the product because I wasn't used to the length of the wand anymore! 😂

I have just been patiently waiting and hoping you’d try brown sugar because I had a feeling you’d love it. I do think the set was still worth it because you had a low barrier to try it, you get minis to scatter around your house and now you can use the one you love, make sure you love it, and then buy a full size in the next sale 😂 It’s been my favorite shade as someone who isn’t exactly a shade twin to you but I’m still quite pale and a bit cool neutral and I think it’s so flattering and a bit of a chameleon between warm/cool depending on what you’re wearing. I agree the pigment load is so light you don’t have to worry about it. I can apply without a mirror which I love.
Liquid smoke is actually not fake smoke flavor. It is made from smoke using a very complex process. Kenji Lopez Alt gives a good description of it and how to use it in his blog post about using a soul vide to make ribs. He may have a video too.
I save my list between sales…so these are items I would have bought anyway, but I wait til I can get 20% off. It actually sometimes is really hard to wait! But I take your point too. And I also have those minis and didn’t have any issue with them not being mixed thankfully. I use them mostly over liner, so they are essentially interchangeable for me since the colors are so transparent.
Love the monochromatic makeup look tou did. I also got Patrick Ta eyeshadow in " Still At Rhe Club". I just thought is very flattering in olive skin. It has this taupe, cool undertone.

For me the savings event is just a great opportunity to restock my favourites now, but it was very difficult to get to that mindset due to all of the hype coming from social media and the consumerism so deeply rooted in us by the world we currently live in. I love this! I bought one thing during the sale, and returned it when the sample I tried was just so sticky for the whole day. But then I bought the Glossier Stretch concealer and clear balm, without saving $4. Ah, well. It’s really not a great sale. That said, Rephr brushes are so beautiful, and they are currently on sale, SO worth it!!
I always think of mini-sets like flights . . . you get to try a sampling of what is offered so you ultimately can find the full size product you will purchase.

I ended up missing the sale entirely. I really only needed one thing, a new Glossier face wash concentrate. (And that’s “needed” loosely, but no other face wash lasts me for months.) Sephora doesn’t even carry it, so I ordered from Glossier instead. Am feeling so much happier and lighter without my usual impulse buyer’s regret. 🎉
I was so incredibly close to buying that summer fridays set but I didn't because of your thoughts on minis! I looove the full size one that I have so I ultimately decided to just finish that one before buying another full size. I only slightly regret it because I want to try them all 🥴 but knowing about the oil issue helps

I got the Summer Friday’s lip set too. I liked the concept because I love the formula and I feel like the full size ones are too big, and by the time you get to the end they’re so gross and busted. I feel like the mini size is the perfect size for this product! mine did not have the oil separation issue though…
I love the mini lip set. I tend to lose lippies…or “strategically place” them across multiple bags and locations. If I lose one of these, I won’t be shattered. Mine didn’t have the oil separation, either.

Loved this video; this sale season I only grabbed a sunscreen I will use and a body spray I've been eyeing for months now. I've really enjoyed de influencing content lately as I move away from makeup as the novelty of buying new things and into makeup as an art and something I enjoy. I have a full size of the Brown Sugar and was regretting not getting the wee sizes, thank you for setting me straight! There's so much product in the full size, I wonder if it would be worth getting a few empty squeeze tubes and decanting for omniplacement...you're hardly hurting for prefilled lip treatment components, though :)

The only duo from that Patrick Ta release that interested me is the one you bought. If I was going to go One N Done, it would most likely be a satin bronzey brown shade. I don't buy new makeup during the Sephora sale, I usually just get extra lipbalms & re-up my skincare. I'm not rouge anymore (haven't been for a few years now) so I only get 15%. Unfortunately Ulta doesn't carry The Inkey List. I've really grown to love their watercream & peptide moisturizers. No fragrance, nothing that irritates my sensitive skin & basically drugstore priced.
I wait on the sale for bigger ticket items I want. Like, perfume. 20% off of a $300 perfume is nice. But yes, I agree with you on the premise of just spending to spend on a sale. Great perspective!
Whenever I’m the lightest shade of a concealer (the WA lightest shade is a GREAT match for my peachy saturated neutral fair/light skin) one of my first thoughts is always “oh Hannah won’t have a shade in this!” Similar in what might be my favorite concealer of all time from Make. Theres a whole generation of us out there subconsciously scouting for Hannah-colored complexion products 😂
Have you tried the Lisa Eldridge foundation in those really pale olive shades? I'm curious how they would look on you. (Also the new skin tint range.)
