i love this place.. like a giant ship.. i visit it every time i'm in Calgary. an oasis of knowledge and tranquility. the public transport stops in the house, it couldn't get any better.
The most amazing feature (IMHO, if course) of the architecture of the new CPL building is that when you go into it, it is open and cavernous, with solid wood, concrete, and tile everywhere, yet the acoustics were so well designed that it sounds like the inside of a recording studio booth. It looks like it should echo like crazy in there, but the sound is perfectly dampened everywhere.
Our LRT system doesn’t hit high speed downtown because the stops are so close together, so it’s not really loud at all. I haven’t personally noticed any noise from the train when I’ve been in the library
Noting to write home about...typical of current Institutional buildings designed by computers...AKA Digital Architecture. In 25 years you're be hearing about ugly they are. Im sure the interior is very nice, but the outside is cut and paste digital architecture.

Why the train running directly underneath? Would that generate noise and vibrations in a place known for silence?

@@daraidasutherland7037 plus doesn't the person think smart people were on this project for that to be the number one concern?
The train was there for decades, which made the site undesirable for private development.

And in 2023 it's an encampment of the homeless and drug addicts.
