So weird to see! Its crazy, listening to her voice even when she's just talking when she was younger sounds ALOT like her Rilo Kiley early singing voice. I'm so happy she became a musician!!!!
Well, that's what she said..and while I'm sure she took a few liberties in the story, I'd wager the majority of it is true. I think the most telling part of this interview is when she said her mom decided to put her into acting and then quickly "corrected" that by trying to imply that it was actually her idea. Cute, interesting, hokey, and sad. This clip's got it all.
Hey I wonder why so many comments talk about the trampoline scene saying that the music was bad... Oh... uh... em... Nevermind, I think I found out why.
How embarrassing! Poor Jenny... it's nice to know about what she was like as a kid though (at least as accurately this interviewer helps express... or doesn't help...).
Oh, the hats. Reminds me of something I would have done when i was younger. Trampoline. Awkward. How long did we need to watching them jump with the awkward music? I love Jenny Lewis, though, what a darling.
@boywithstars It was a rhetorical question, I was just amused by the fact that you used the band to identify who she was. Is her band really that popular? I don't know much about it.
What is funny about this guy is that he calls folks idiots, but then says something idiotic himself. Jenny sings in at least two Postal Service songs, "Nothing Better" and "We Become Silhouettes." She is cool and you should be too.
The music during the hat scene is so awkward haha. This is probably the strangest interview I've ever seen. i can't help but cringe at the 90's cheesiness. And the trampoline part...just...wow lol. I wonder if during this time Jenny was depressed about the acting thing and she was just putting on a show or if she was happy and enjoying her life thus far.
That's not her in the recorded version of "Nothing Better." I think she's considered the third member of the Postal Service but I guess we'll have to see how involved she is in the next album to see if she's really in the band.
She was in the touring version of the Postal Service, where she sang all of Jen Wood's parts too, and the Postal Service sucks just a little bit less than Rilo Kiley so it was worth mentioning... idiot.
She seems so awkward. I think it's very interesting to see now, after all the songs she wrote and interviews she gave as a grown-up. She clearly doesn't look happy to me, in this video. But she's pretending to be.

That was amazing. It's mindblowing to see her talk about acting when you mostly hear her sing.
I am dying to meet Jenny Lewis just one time, so I can greet her with "So I hear you have a trampoline?"
If you think this is awkward, you should see the rest of the video. Jenny's segment is BY FAR the most watchable part of it.
When she put the white hat on, I thought she was going to reference Gone with the Wind, and she did, but with the next hat. So funny!
She's such a great musician. I'm not sure about acting as I've never really seen her but she's tops at music.
Oh, Jenny. So awkward at fifteen. I love her so much.

The next time somebody posts video of Jenny Lewis on a trampoline I would appreciate it if they could make it more like The Man Show.
omfg i never knew that was her in the wizard!!!!!
It's hilarious to hear her talk about acting. For so many reasons. Maybe this is why she hated it so much.
But the hats. That's classic.
the soundtrack to this show is just swell. The only time I could tell she is the same person as she is now is when she puts on the first hat.
jenny is freaking amazing
favorite actor, mickey rourke! ha! wow what a decade...so long ago now
jenny lewis on trampoline whoo!!
"you really have to care about your planet, cuz without the planet we wouldn't be here" lol
Two minutes of jumping on a trampoline to circus music.... I love it.
I wonder if she still has that collection?
Mexico can fuckin' wait
"I've always been a hat person"
WOW!! i had no idea that was her mom or that she acted...crazyy..
@periechontology I think she is more well known for her music than for her acting at this point.
LOL @ her hawaiian short. I love Jenny Lewis.
I like her hair style, so old fashion, looks so nice! :)
Hey I wonder why so many comments talk about the trampoline scene saying that the music was bad...
Oh... uh... em...
Nevermind, I think I found out why.
Jenny is great!
this is great
the trampoline part with the teletubbies style music was kinda trippy :)
my life ambition is to defeat Jenny Lewis in a Super Mario 3 Challange. That would be pretty sweet.
lmao, the awkward pauses! :D
this has nearly 100,000 views?!? rilo kiley must have more fans than I thought.
How embarrassing! Poor Jenny... it's nice to know about what she was like as a kid though (at least as accurately this interviewer helps express... or doesn't help...).
I totally have the same trampoline!
This is pretty funny/
"calendars... u always know what day it is!"

@periechontology rilo kiley is awesome listen to their album Under The Blacklight
Oh, the hats. Reminds me of something I would have done when i was younger.

I have no idea, if only there was some way to search for things on the internet...

"can you really play Nintendo?"
LMFAO at the hat scene
"Frankly Scarlett, I don´t give a damn!"
She was good!
I wish that I was friends with Jenny Lewis at age 15.I could find out for certain if she can really play nintendo.
@boywithstars

Exactly!
Who? Shelly Long isn't her mom.
"I hear you have a trampoline"
wow, that should be the background during an animal collective performance.
trampoline scene. i lol'd hard
To think That was Jenny Lewis, Hahaha
Q: If you could work with one person, who would it be?
A: Meg Ryan, definitely. Meg or Blake Sennett.
You mean families of child stars aren't stable? (Gasp)!
Jenny Lewis says care about things other than yourslef. Take that!
That's not her in the recorded version of "Nothing Better."
I think she's considered the third member of the Postal Service but I guess we'll have to see how involved she is in the next album to see if she's really in the band.
4:12-5:00 shows why she doesn't act anymore...
the music is awful, the interviewer is bad, is a bit akward, but jenny is such a sweetheart.
the hair!
Oh god
you're assuming all the things she said about her mom in "Rabbit Fur Coat" were true. I read that it was mostly fiction (per Jenny in a NPR interview)
Oh please, she was fifteen!
Yup, that's Jen Wood, she's way cooler!
she laughs like a stoner it's awesome
no that was me
She was in the touring version of the Postal Service, where she sang all of Jen Wood's parts too, and the Postal Service sucks just a little bit less than Rilo Kiley so it was worth mentioning... idiot.

@boywithstars i fucking love you.
What the heck is Rilo Kiley?
haha god damn this is so awkward

You couldn't then (eww) and you can't now.
Ha! Cute!
ahahahha
Well who would be happy...it's a dumb and awkward interview
no downside haaaaa!
In the start see does look like her doesn't she..
this is so akward, even to watch
the interviewer is awful
