While I do agree with your statement, there is some psychological term for this, but essentially, it is the idea that someone who knows more about a field will be more careful, because they know what they don't know, whereas someone new may not understand all the nuances/facets and may believe they know everything about such a field. I disagree with the smart/idiot statement, I would instead say something like experts/laymen, but the core idea remains the same: at a certain point you gotta put down your philosophy books and questions and just make something, regardless of possible consequences because risk is always going to exist

Singing: I watched part of the timbaland master class, and one of the ways he starts new ideas is to turn autotune on full-blast robot and just start talking and singing into autotune whatever comes to mind. Eventually, he stumbles on something fun. It's worth a try....

In my opinion, if you get one big idea (e.g., singing into a full-on autotune) that inspires you, it's worth it. Otherwise, I think a thousand youtube videos and actually MAKING music is much better. I like his attitude: it's supposed to be FUN and YOU CAN DO IT. In the end, you have to do it all yourself anyway....
