Hi Alex, a pumice stone or friction stone could possibly damage the surface, but that would depend on how hard you apply pressure. I don't recommend using those, I go for the brush and very light scrape if needed to remove and stuck on stuff. Chef Jason
depending on the age of the brush, sometimes replacement is best. If I need to clean mine I do one of 2 things. pressure wash quick to get the gunk off or spray with dawn power wash, let that soak in and then rinse with very hot water. rinse well to get rid of any soap residue. Chef Jason

whirlpool has a food eater pump in their dishwashers. Whirlpool told us that they only had one pump jam and that was because of a screw fell into the machine from the hold down latch under the kitchen counter top
