We can use a combination of adapters to achieve the results we want. I usually use a combination of NAT+Host Only adapters for most of my LAbs. NAT -> for internet access (also shields the VMs behind my host) Host Only -> For Internal LAN for VMs with Host Access * Check below link on steps to configure NAT + HostOnly on CentOS 7 Linux (Start at 14:50) th-cam.com/video/fXzGI_x-9UE/w-d-xo.html * Steps to Configure Bridged adapter on VMs with Home wifi router. (Start at 11:10) th-cam.com/video/fXzGI_x-9UE/w-d-xo.html
Best explanation but how do you work with NAT+Host Only adapters for most of my LAbs. because I can select only one option at a time in a network section inside the virtual box.
This is the easiest understanding explanation on VirtualBox networking I've watched, I like how you give example how to setup on each adapter, not just telling like text to speech machine, that's why I'm watching a video instead of reading a manual.
This is the Best Explanation for Virtualbox Networking Ever. Thanks I have been watching all other videos as well. They are the best. You have great understanding and great Teaching Skills. Please do more videos like this. Thank you
Thank you so much i had wasted numerous hours on figuring out why my VMs could not connect with each other using SSH to be honest i had lost all motivation until i found this video thank you so much.
I come to this video every now and then when I am stuck with Virtualbox networking to refresh my memory. Thank you so much for taking time to explain all this.
hello, I can't access internet even doing all this as explained in this videos. Also, command prompt shows request timed out whenever I try pinging my guest os linux from host os windows11
What took me days trying to figure out watching this video not only resolved my issue but help me understand basic networking for VirtualBox. Thank you!
You don't know but you have helped me in a big way . My SSH on VM were failing for GIT and I was struggling for one week . Finally your suggestion around 9:15 helped me to overcome the issue . So thanks a lot :)
I spend 2 days trying to connect vm to a host didnt really find anything how to do it until I watched this video. Great explanation! keep up the good work.
Very well formed video, I was trying to search for "How to install redhat with wifi enabled", and came to a conclusion that I need to understand VirtualBox networking fundamentals, so I searched for relevant topic, I see several such questions on the net, I myself tried different versions of above question on youtube over google as well, but couldn't find anything that would give straight forward answer to what I need to do, I believe you should create such tutorials with different variation of headers, it will help several people who are not aware of networking in general. And thanks for this one.
bonjour je préfère écrire en français car mon anglais est un peu scolaire. Juste vous remercier pour votre vidéo qui m'a super bien. continuez ce que vous faites c'est juste génial.
But I have a question. I configured port forwarding as you mentioned but do not want to use SSH. I just want to be able to ping the guest VM from my host VM. But I am unable to now. How do I do that?
Nive pack of information and language is good so I highli recommend. I have question... is there and option to create network that all devices see eachother and have access to internet? In video it would be sth like bridged network but I;m fighting with it ant cant solve it the way I want. Any sugestion?
Thanks for the lesson! However, I do have one basic question. Why do we have to change the default networking properties in our VMs in order to launch Apache Hadoop?
Hi, I have 3 VMs and a host. How can I connect all the VMs and the host into one network and that each machine can still access the internet independently?
I am facing an issue when adding Adpater1 as a Bridge. Port forwarding is configured but from the host, as I type localhost:8090 then it doesn't work. I then access it through an IP address but same the page isn't accessed. Any advice from your side, please.

Thanks for the lesson! However, I do have one basic question. Why do we have to change the default networking properties in our VMs in order to launch Apache Hadoop?
If you plan to setup a cluster with multiple hosts most probably. For single server setup you do need to change. Depends on your requirement.
Hi, I have 3 VMs and a host. How can I connect all the VMs and the host into one network and that each machine can still access the internet independently?
06:20 - NAT
13:31 - Bridged adapter
16:44 - Host only N/w
I am facing an issue when adding Adpater1 as a Bridge. Port forwarding is configured but from the host, as I type localhost:8090 then it doesn't work. I then access it through an IP address but same the page isn't accessed. Any advice from your side, please.
