The India men's national volleyball team represents India in international volleyball competitions which is managed by Volleyball Federation of India. It is currently sponsored by Sahara India Pariwar and Asics.
Volleyball Federation history
The Volleyball Federation of India was formed in the year 1951. Prior to the formation of the Volleyball Federation of India (VFI), the game was controlled by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and at that time the Interstate Volleyball Championship was held every two years from 1936 to 1950 for men only. The first Championship was held in the year 1936 at Lahore (now in Pakistan). In 1951, Volleyball Federation of India was formed and its first meeting was held in Ludhiana (Punjab).

I am from Chhattisgarh and Volleyball is a very popular sports here...My father is also a Coal India employee though he doesn't play any games...I am well aware of the fact that Coal India has a solid Volleyball team still.

Indian volleyball rankings improved from 130 to 59 now.
With every month or quarter 2 ranks improved . I hope they maintain the trend. Have high hopes for indian youth and spreading sports culture among common people

I guess we are growing in this sport. We were around 130 in ranking a year ago and now we are around 70 or 80. I hope the upward trend continues.
Yes good to see India grow in this sports like others .As in pakistsn volleyball improved its ranking from 120 to48 in 10 years hudge invest,ent made in volleyball .Now pakistan ranking is 48 and it will inshallah under 30 in next 4 years hopefully .I hope India can improve its ranking from 90 to 50 .

It's so sad to see that most people in India don't know how fun volleyball is. I was once the same guy who hated volleyball and thought it to be a dumb game cuz its only importance to me was in PE subject and I had to prepare this chapter for exam.. But time changed and for certain reasons I started taking interest and started playing this game.
Though I am not very tall, just a 5ft-4inch guy , I still love to play as a middle blocker. I don't have flashy jumps, serves or recieves but trust me I actually have fun. When I play, I want to just keep going and never stop. All my fatigue, my worries, my stress, all vanishes in a whim. .. I seriously love this sport would want to see if this grow...
