Thanks for review, lots of good info. Just removed belt to adjust; and discovered that possibly lid or brain might be able to attach around hip belt to make a day pack. Haven't actually tried it in field yet. Just an idea.
Great detailed review. I’ll be in the market for a new pack within the next year or two. I’ve been really impressed with GG and this has definitely helped to confirm that. Thanks for the thorough work.
Thank you for sharing. I looked at various packs to replace my Osprey Aether 70 for my 2018 thru hike of the PCT. The Crown 2 was my choice. GREAT REVIEW!!!
@@vvs3796 often it tips the scales at 21-26#’s. That’s with 4-5 liters of water. If I’m going ultra light I remove the brain and carry no more than 3 liters of water and I’m at 17-18 with 5 days food. I’ve had it up to 34 for a winter/snow trip and it was comfortable and secure. Sits well on the hips and hugs tight.
talk to me about the material. when wet...will it get much heavier? I also use a compactor bag inside my pack... I just don't want a heavy/wet pack... this looks so good!
great review. I just bought this pack and was struggling to find out have to adjust the hip belt. Thank you for the video. Also i learned several tips from video

appears the the hip belt comes from the LUTSEN series of pack, very nice. I purchased and used a GG nimbus meridian for many years. good co, make good stuff.
@@TrailAndMountain Thanks for the reply. Like I said I am seriously looking at this pack in my attempt to lighten up this year. Were you carrying a 30 lb plus weight. Also how many days on the trail did you use this pack? I know what it is like to drop big dollars on a pack only to be disappointed.
@@wanderingaloudwithmark3057 I did 12 mile days over a weekend with 42 lb. The pack did great for me and I had no issues what so ever! GG makes great packs for sure
Hey Michael! I would go with the long as mine is a little too big on me after using it for a while. Thanks for your comment and get outdoors! Please consider subscribing if you have not already
@@TrailAndMountain Just subscribed. Thank you for the fast response. I wanted a quality pack but didn't want to break the bank. I am going on an overnight trail camping trip next month. I am assuming I can attach a sleeping bag to the bottom, right? Again, thanks for the video...
GG rates the pack for 35 pounds. I will be carrying that weight on the AZT due to the need to carry extra water. Does it pull on the shoulders at 35 pounds?
I just used this for a 250 km hike in Greece. I was testing it for a longer hike in northern Sweden and Norway where I won't have access to resupplies so I started out around 37-40 lbs. It definitely becomes more comfortable once under 30 lbs but 35 is perfectly fine and I did not experience any pulling.
They intentionally made one too many of the lid buckles female. The 3rd buckle you did in the video should have been male, just like the 4th. Then you could use the lid in conjunction with the removable waist belt as a peak bag. Pretty douchey of them to do that.
I've had this pack about six weeks. Been on a couple trips, and a number of training hikes for the PCT. LOVE THIS PACK!!!!!!
Thanks for chiming in Doug! It really is a great pack
Just stumbled upon this pack on Mass Drop! So stoked that I think I may have found my next pack! Thanks for the review!
I'm glad I came across this video. I've been looking at this pack for about a month. Want something light but supportive. Thanks!

did it work?
Yes, it was perfect. Held up well and still use it. Actually purchased a second one as a spare. Friends use it who are new to backpacking.
@@stevemac1956 what weight u normally carry in it?

Can I put my laptop along with the back support plastic part?
Any updates on this pack? Have you had the chance to take out on a test run....
I've never seen your channel. Am considering the GG Crown2 38L. You do a very good review.

Was looking seriously at this pack. But heard that the shoulder straps fail at 30 lb weight.
Mine never did

@@michaelfrazier9537 Yes you can attach the bag to the bottom. I would just stuff it into the bottom of the pack though imho
$99 on some sites. $119 on REI clearance.
how much weight can you carry?
is the hip belt on every granite gear crown 2 ? because everytime ,i look for one on they don,t have the hip belt
pelle lindbergh On crown 2s they have the newer hipbelt w pockets, the first version does not have side pockets or a lid

Hey Mike, I didn't experience any "pulling" but you should have the pack situated properly so that most of the weight rides on your hips anyway

Thanks for that information Matthew! That would be a nice feature but unsure that they did that on purpose. Thanks for chiming in my friend
