    I tried one out in-store when I first got back into hiking about 5 years ago, I didn’t find it all that comfortable but since then I’ve dialed in my packing. A few months ago I bought one just because I couldn’t say no to $75 LOL. I find it as comfortable as my Osprey Atmos 50. I liked it so much that I found a Crown2 38 in a Facebook group I’m in, and that’s as comfy as my Osprey Kestrel 38. It also carries my 15F down bag comfortably, which the Kestrel doesn’t.
    I may get myself a Blaze 60 and see how that compares to my Aether 70 for heavier loads.

    Great In The Field review.
    It has more Pros than Cons. Not sure about that back mesh. I might forget to lay the bag down or against something on the opposite side
    so as not to tear it.

      Yeah, you would have to pay a bit of attention with that bag...it's really great, but the light weight nature has some delicate features.

    Great review thank you! I am still pondering this pack - I tested it before and felt like it was super hot on my back, but the features are amazing! SUBBED!

      @outerlimitless  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't have too much issue with the heat, but every climate will be different...depends on the trip, destination, etc. For the money it's pretty solid, nice and light and great features.

    The pack is only rated to 35 lbs max.

    • @outerlimitless
      @outerlimitless  5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Ratings are a suggestion. I'm a gear tester... that pack went miles with thousands of feet of elevation gain. It had many more pounds to go before it was a problem.

    What size bladder will fit in the zipper frame pocket?

    • @outerlimitless
      @outerlimitless  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say definitely 2 liter, but it's fairly large...maybe even 3 liter depending on the shape of the bladder.

      Thanks...I have a full review from a few months back showing it in detail too. It's a great bag...I highly recommend it.

    Would you say the bag is water resistant enough to be called a dry bag? I purchased this but also purchased a rain cover. Now I’m wondering if that’s needed at all.

    • @outerlimitless
      @outerlimitless  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I personally don't carry a rain cover with this pack. It's not 100% water proof, but has been water resistant enough for me in all scenarios I have encountered so far. BUT, I have not had that pack in a HARD driving rain. Thanks for watching!

    Good review and not bothered having to lay the pack that way to avoid the back mesh. Changing to a lighter pack and hoping to win one next week. Going for this over the osprey levity 60. A bit heavier and with import a bit more pricey but looks a lot tougher with better straps.

    • @outerlimitless
      @outerlimitless  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Osprey carry comfort is very hard to beat. You will be satisfied for sure. I have the Atmos 65 which has been wonderful. Osprey offers the lifetime warranty as well, but the only downfall is the cost to ship the bag back to Osprey for service can be quite pricey.

    Not sure if you're still carrying this pack or not but as far as it being to long for you...have you tried removing the frame plate just as a test? This would allow the pack to slouch some and put more of the weight on your shoulders. If that helps, you may be able to cheat a bit and shorten the frame plate slightly, a little from the top and the bottom...just enough to lower the shoulder straps a bit and distribute a bit more of the load to your back. I'm so close to ordering the long version because I can never find a pack long enough for me but your video is making me more cautious about over shooting.

    • @outerlimitless
      @outerlimitless  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think with the Blaze 60 having the adjustable straps I would go that route. Although the Crown2 can often be found fairly cheap. I filmed a preliminary video showing this in the studio and measured my back. Did you see that video too?

    Do you have any tips on how to pack this bag? I got this as my first bag and am having trouble packing everything I want to bring

    • @outerlimitless
      @outerlimitless  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on your gear...don't use stuff sacks... they lead to un-used void space. Stuff your sleeping bag down first... clothes next. Basically anything squishy goes in the bottom. Then cooking gear. Stuff your food in the top and your trail food in the mesh or head pack. Med kit in the head pack.

    • @nickl6118
      @nickl6118 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@outerlimitless WOW! just did that and made a world of a difference, thank you so much! Is it possible to bring fresh food backpacking or should I just use the freeze dried stuff? do you have a recommendation for a food bag? Def gained a new subscriber today

    • @outerlimitless
      @outerlimitless  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nickl6118 I get creative depending on my trip. I do a fresh cold cut wrap on the trails day 1. Pre-cooked meat is usually good until the end of your first day if you want to cook over the fire. Day 2 it depends. I'll usually have a salami and cheese block for day 2 plus any trail mix etc.

      I’ve found I have to pack the heavier stuff a little higher than normal, like 2/3 of the way up instead of halfway. It goes c losest to the back as well. My down jacket, raingear, and tent are at the very top.

      If you're interested, Massdrop has the x60 for $120 very often... not available today, but it will be soon I'm sure. Different color and a touch upgraded. I'm between sizes myself. I think I'd go with large and not extra large if I could choose again. I'm 6'1"ish 170 lbs but at the time of that video I was probably 185 lbs.

      outer limitless : So you got an extra large? or a regular? Massdrop has it on sale for $120 again plus I get a new customer discount of $20.00. I think I'm about 21.5-22 torso length.

    Dude, you need to lighten up. The V.C. Mark 2 with Frame has a 35lb (15kg) load rating. Go check out backpackinglight.com

    • @outerlimitless
      @outerlimitless  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I don't need to lighten up...I carry about 10 lbs of crap every time I go out so I have my camera equipment and gear to test and review for my channel. The Blaze 60 also has a 35+ lb rating which is my other option. I can pack into a 40L pack if I go out with no obligations, but I make commitments to companies to test gear, so I do!

  • @TrinityRSV
    @TrinityRSV 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Boy, you sound like a person paid by the company. Yes, they provided it but you sound like a commercial for them. Guess that's what sells gear...

    • @outerlimitless
      @outerlimitless  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Watch my channel before you pass judgment. If you're stopping in for one video and dropping a comment, you're opinion carries little weight. My videos are reviews based upon my feelings about a product and how the products work for me. If I like a product, I will have a very positive video. I discuss the pro's as well as the con's. I didn't carry this pack over thousands of feet of elevation gain, and miles upon miles to develop a biased opinion... that could have been done in my studio.
