The capacity is about 15-1800, and i believe that only accounts for seated capacity, but there is a good amount of standing room there as well. It was also the home of the Buffalo Beauts of the NWHL until just before the 2019-20 season. They also host beer league, and was home to the 11 Day Power Play in its first couple years.
If you had seen the picture of the Capitals practice arena from the other end, you would have seen our greats on the wall. Also when they won the Cup, the Iceplex placed engraved glass with the Cup logo on various panes near doors. If you’re ever in the DC area, I would be honored to show you. Fun fact the Avalanche "training facility" is just a public recreational rink. Theres two sheets of ice, an arcade/laser tag, restaraunt. The Av's have a back entrance and closed off area with a private entrance to their sheet of ice. But when they don't need it, its just used for youth hockey, public skate, etc.

Awesome video Neil. Fun fact about me is that I’ve played at Ford Performance Centre which is where both the Toronto Maple Leafs and Marlies practice. Used to be called MasterCard Centre I still call it that lol. It has 4 pads one is an Olympic size arena, the other pad is a regular pad, the other pad is where the marlies practice, and the other pad is where the Leafs practice. I’ve played at all pads and I even saw the leafs practice one time there.
That Ad was the best thing I've seen all day! You should be the guy other TH-camr's contact when they have to come up with how they should present their ads! Top notch.
The blues "technically" have 4 sheets to choose from, three inside, 1 outside for winter. Centene is like 2 years old and it's amazing. When they aren't practicing, the sheets are open for open skate to the public. Edit because I forgot to put something: the blues used to practice at the St. Louis Mills, and it's being turned into a huge indoor baseball facility so the blues needed a new facility.
The islanders have 2 rinks the one you showed was red seats and only one side of seating the other one has the Stanley cup banners And the bench side also has seating
The facilities the blues use acutally has 4 sheets, a mini grocery store, a restaurant, a medical center, a radio station, multiple gyms, and private areas for the Blues, along with a hotel and casino in the same parking lot
The Great Park (The Ducks practice facility) is amazing. It was finished in 2019 and has four nice sheets, with Ducks coloring throughout, a cool team shop, a good restaurant overlooking two rinks, a gym, classrooms, offices, and of course the big arena rink. It’s so modern and effective. It’s located a couple miles from me so I have lots of experience playing there. Our club even has a designated locker room.
Dude I just started LAUGHING when the the manscaped bit started. It's crazy how many youtubers Manscaped is sponsoring right now, like at least half of the youtubers I watch on a regular basis are doing manscaped promos right now. Good job Neil. Keep your balls clean boys.
Also the capitals facility is on top of a 8 story building w a awesome huge capitals logo on a big glass entrance w it being on top of the building you have DC as back drop as well as beautiful Arlington.... Love it
I’ve played games in the senators facility. It hosts minor hockey tournaments (pre-COVID obviously) every year. That image is one of four ice pads. It’s quite a nice arena
The coolest thing about the "Ice Haus" in Columbus is that its a part of Nationwide. Behind the camera in the picture you showed is windows through to the concourse area of the main arena. Theyve had peewee and high school state championships on that ice during CBJ games.
I play in the Lightning facility in an over 50 league. The nice thing about this place is how open it is to the fans and how truly cool the guys are. We have Sunday afternoon games and many times the Lightning or visiting team practice right before our game. We go in and dress up and can watch the practice, interact with the guys and everybody is really great about it. Both with the Lightning and visiting teams usually. Since covid it's been a bit more restrictive, but once life gets back to normal, it will be great again.
7:26 also that rink has 5 windows that are covered in that picture that face out into the street. Gives a cool vibe. 14:44 i wish you could see the other side of the rink. It has glass walls the length of the rink. It’s the offices for the sales team as well as management, GM, Owner, etc. If you have any questions or would like more detail I helped open that rink and still help to this day. Also its on the 8th floor of a parking garage, yes, on the top of a parking garage and they have double rinks.
Living in New England, I’ve been to a handful of Bruins practices and let me tell you inside and out it’s so nice. Worth visiting someday if you haven’t yet!
Yes! I’ve been to a few and it is awesome being able to skate on the ice, and then seeing the B’s playing on a it an hour later. Also, I wish he had showed the bear made out of hockey gear just behind where he took the picture
I used to play in the Chicago Blackhawks practice rink before I moved and it is absolutely beautiful. The area is not the best, but the rink was newly built about 3 years ago and it always has a clean smell. There are 2 sheets of ice and the best part: it has the stadium food there
Before their current practice facility opened, the Blues used to have a practice facility in the St. Louis Mills Mall. You could get a Cinnabon and then go watch them practice. It had glass on one end where you could look in and watch practice and seating one one side. It was an odd facility.
The Buffalo Harborcenter is home to the Canisius College hockey teams, as well as the Buffalo Bueats of the WNHL and also hosts the Atlantic Hockey tournament and was set to host the Ncaa d3 National Championship last year before it got cancelled. It also host many local high school and amateur leagues. They actually have a charity game that goes 11 days straight that pretty much anyone can participate in. But since it host so many different teams. There are no actual sabres logos in the arena
I'm the Zamboni driver for the St Louis Blues practice facility. We have 4 sheets of ice but the Blues only ever practice on 2 of them. Both indoor. The outdoor rink comes out in March and goes back in October. The indoor picture you showed, they almost never practice on. 95% of the time they practice on a rink right next to it, aptly named the NHL rink. That rink looks very similar to some of the others on here. Small bleacher area and much more enclosed for privacy.
It isn't finished yet, but we've seen renderings and specs of the Seattle practice facility and based off just these images it will easily be the best or maybe 2nd best in the league. 3 sheets of ice, window wall on at least 1 side of the main practice ice (which they can open up entirely to the outdoors), a top of the line sports bar and grill overlooking one end of the team practice ice just to from what we've seen so far. Plus it is right on the brand new light rail station providing quick (traffic free) transit to downtown.
You have an old picture for City National Arena. There is now a big castle section on the back wall where projectors are. It can show scores, sponsors, and VGK games during free skate. Honestly it's pretty dang cool.
For New Jersey, their practice facility is actually directly attached to the Prudential Center, like some other teams have as well. In the foreground, on the wall where the camera is standing, they have all the retired number banners and divisional wins, etc. The one that you can see obviously has the retired numbers. They also allow local college teams to play there, which is pretty neat. I saw my girlfriend's brother play there once, he's the goalie for the Columbia University team, so that was awesome, since I'm a huge Devils fan. Pretty well lit too!
for st. louis, the outdoor rink is called the barn, and it is almost never used by the blues and because of the crazy weather, it can only be up for maybe a couple months or a few. in the second rink you showed, that is the division 1 rink for the lindenwood lions. the st louis blues actually practice in the NHL rink, and is branded to the st louis blues. it is the second of the four rinks.
The Flames have practiced at Winsport (Canada Olympic Park) in the rare times when the Saddledome is unavailable and have their development camp at Winsport every summer. The team has no practice or hockey development facilities that they specifically own. When the Corral was still around they would occasionally practice there when the Saddledome was unavailable. Their new arena is expected to have an attached community arena that is expected to serve as a practice and development facility.
Minnesota also has an outdoor rink they they’ll practice at every once and a while (not recently because of covid.) pretty cool to see the blues also having an outdoor rink
@@bsundell5746 I think so. I only remember seeing on their Instagram account that they practiced outdoors, and I don’t think it’s theirs, but that they’ve used it a couple of times
Yeah, Arizona practices at either Gila River Arena, or the Scottsdale Ice Den. The photo is from the Ice Den which is just a regular public arena with two ice surfaces. When they move to the ASU arena, they will have a game arena and a practice facility on site.
Nice. The "Ice Haus" the Blue Jackets practice on is attached to the side of the arena where the scorers table, penalty box and press boxes are located on. If you leave your seat on that side on the lower level and walk out on to the main concourse, you can watch games (high school and youth league) in progress. I've watched many a practice from those windows on the west side of the arena. My season ticket is in back of the Blue Jackets bench. Section 103, row WW seat 7. Every......single.......game.
The Blues practice at a facility with 3 indoor and 1 outdoor. The indoor one shown in the video is not their main indoor sheet. They practice on 2 of the indoor sheets and sometimes the outdoor sheet. They practice at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
The Sabres practice at Harbor Center. An unreal rink thats actually on top of a 5 story parking ramp, with two rinks, a hotel and it's connected to Key Bank Center with a few restaurants too. It's the best public rink ever. You should take a look at all of it. They had the world juniors played in it at times too.
The Anaheim Duck’s practice facility is not a shared facility. The picture showed is the stadium rink (4 of 4) and they normally practice on rink 3. 110 million dollar facility and it is truly beautiful…
The rink in St. Louis is called centene ice rink, and in the winter they have the outdoor rink to practice on. Really nice facility, and also share it with lindenwood university
The Sabres practice at Harborcenter, which is connected to Key Bank Center. The main rink at Harborcenter is home to the NCAA division 1 Canisius College Golden Griffins. The building has an amazing bar (716 Food and Drink) and has eight rinks inside it.
Ottawa’s, the Bell Sensplex is amazing, it’s got 3 NHL sized rinks and 1 international size, the rinks are all great and don’t forget a turf field too.
If you were wondering Neil, the oilers practice facility is attached to Rogers Place and I’ve been there before. There are also videos of them playing there as well
The wings practice rink is inside little ceasers arena. That rink is also ho,etc to the little Ceasars junior hockey program. The wings weight room has windows looking out on the ice
Caps have 2 rinks, skate and stick shop, souvenir shop, Cafe, a kids corner, you can watch from multiple areas, plus your and elevator ride to the mall below.
When i was playing jr A our home arena had windows, not the full wall and not until about 10 feet above the ground. we practiced typically between 5-8 pm and at the right time of the year we got the worst glare coming off the ice from the sunset. One time it was so bad we just quit practicing because we couldn't see.
haha I knew before you even started the list that Minnesota would be #1 - it's such a stunning facility, perched up in the middle of the St Paul skyline. Just a beauty.
Pittsburgh’s practice facility is called the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex. It’s actually got two rinks with a gym in the middle and also has several doctor’s offices. The rink in this picture is actually the secondary one, the primary one has more seating and a balcony where upper management sits. It’s also got windows so that people in the doctors office part of the building can watch the practices.
The Penguins practice is amazing. It's called the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex. It's free to watch them pratice. There is a deli outisde of the rink, there is Fresh Wood-Fired pizza, cheeseburgers, grilled cheese, new england clam chowder, pasga, salads, wraps, chips, and more. It's great. They also have a team store
I've been to the Caps practice facility for blood drives. It sits on top of a mall parking garage with a narrow spiral ramp to get to the facility. There's 2 rinks and when I was there the branding of the second rink was all about the outdoor games, but that was before the Cup run.
The Blues have Centene Community Ice Center. There is an outdoor rink 6 months a year and the Blueshave a dedicated sheet of ice there as well as off ice workout space. There is also 2 other sheets for public use in the facility.
Harborcenter in Buffalo has 2 rinks that's 7 stories high. Both rinks are ABOVE the parking garage. The branding is much better now than what it was in that picture. They played the 2018 World Juniors on the 2 practice sheets and at KeyBank Center.
I am a Blues fan and I love the Blues practice facility, the Centene Community Ice Center. I have skated on every rink but the outdoor one, and there is actually four rinks in the building. FOUR RINKS. It is huge and on their main practice rink there (it wasn’t even pictured in the video), there is a massive mural honoring their 2019 Cup run. They have another mural above a different rink (picture #2) honoring Youth Hockey State Champions, and they also have the Bobby Player Rink (💙5️⃣) with banners for retired numbers. It is ridiculous. Not only are there four rinks, but they host several teams, including a small university hockey team (Lindenwood), and each rink is unique in its own way. I think it is absolutely beautiful and the best practice facility in the league, but I am biased and I respect your opinion. Loved the video!
The Calgary Flames sometimes use Canada Olympic Parks ice rinks for practice. From some of the footage I’ve seen of their practices it looks like they use the saddle dome more though.
Used to work for the wings, theirs is in the basement of their arena, professional scouting box, multiple meeting rooms, concession stands, skate sharpening and shooting practice simulator, built same time their arena was built in 2017
I've actually played many times in the Ottawa one (Sensplex). It's not bad. There's actually like 4 rinks in there. One of them seats a decent amount of people. The other three is literally just a bench running along the wall (like the one pictured). There's actually a second floor with protruding corner balconies for each. There's always some minor league tournament or something running there. Always busy. Overall all, pretty fun to play there.
I've played several times on the TRIA (Wild) practice rink as well as the Xcel Energy Center. The TRIA is a fun place to play. Good ice, cool view, bars & restaurants downstairs, etc. Yes... downstairs. The ice surface is actually on like the 4th floor or something.
The Minnesota’s Wild’s practice rink (Tria Rink in St. Paul) is actually in a multipurpose building (The Treasure Island Center) located on the 5th floor! You can look down while through the glass wall on the side at the city streets in the air!
16:47 - So I acutally played in an adult rec league in the Twin Cities, We had one game at Tria, and it I so nice. It a few stories up, tons of seating, and really nice locker rooms, to say nothing of the ice quality, when the Wild aren't using it Hamline University(D3) actually plays there games there, and any other time its available for rent!
As someone who lives in Ottawa the Senators have 3 facilities called the Sensplex. 2 of the facilities have 4 rinks and 1 of the facilities only has 1 and the Sens use all of the Sensplexes but they mainly use the Bell Sensplex due to it being located just down the street from the Canadian Tire Center.
For the Coyotes one, it needs some context though I don’t disagree with the ranking (I mean no one should, this is for fun lol). That specific rink is actually one of three in the total building and that one in the photo is a multipurpose rink that they turn into turf for the summer, the other two rinks stay the as ice year round and the other two have stands. I won a high school state championship on one of those sheets in 2011 so, it has a warm place in my heart!
I've been to TRIA rink many times (The Whitecaps of the NWHL play their home games there and I'm a season ticket holder). It's absolutely gorgeous. They have pucks from different youth leagues and high school teams on display, and the walls are are painted with facts about the Wild and the history of Minnesota hockey. I think some of the D3 colleges play games there too. And it's on the top floor of a building so it's basically like watching/playing hockey on the rooftop.
I was living in edmonton in 1980 81 then they used sherwood Park arena. Then when the West edmonton mall was built they did some stuff in there but I think that was just a publicity stunt. When I moved to sault ste Marie I was coaching minor hockey and often visited buffalo for tournaments. At that time the sabers used a suberb twin pad to practice on. My young hopefuls gathered many autographs. Happy days one another great video thanks
I have played pick up games in the wild practice facility. It is amazing. There is a ton of branding even down to the vending machines. It is actually on the 3rd floor, or 4th, it’s been awhile, of a building. It’s just incredible. There isn’t much out there like it when you are playing puck and looking out at a lit up skyline of the city. Just awesome.
The Wild's practice rink is super cool. Downtown St Paul, it's on the 4th or 5th floor of a building. Our ladies pro team, the Whitecaps, uses that as their home rink too.
I’ve played at the devils practice facility many times. Great experience. I’ve even been lucky to see a few teams practice there when we had a game right after. It’s also connected to the prudential center. One more thing in the picture here it doesn’t show but they also have all the retired player banners next to the Stanley cup champion banners.
Little late to the party here, but glad you had Boston at #2. I have played on that ice a few times (Warrior Arena) and the pictures don't do it justice. The entire facility (including team offices, locker rooms, training facilities, etc.) is incredible. Also some of the best ice I have ever skated on.
I know this video is 2 years old as of when I’m writing this, but the VGK one needs updating. Their practice rink has a fortress wall theme along where the scoreboard & LED-screen are, so that rink now has a lot more personality to it! It’s definitely a top-10 facility now.
FYI, I’ve been on the Panthers practice ice and although that rink is in the practice facility, that’s not the ice the Cats use, the one they use is in the same building as the ice shown but looks a lot better.
I skate at the islanders practice facility all the time. Where they practice, they have 2 additional rinks; One inside and one outside. All three thinks have public sessions.

Love it
Calgary usually uses Canada Olympic Park Arena for training camp in pre season so that’s kinda their practice facility
Winsport
i was going to have a tournament theren but it got canceled because of covid
Don't they sometimes practice at the Flames Community Arenas too?
I’ve played games in the senators facility. It hosts minor hockey tournaments (pre-COVID obviously) every year. That image is one of four ice pads. It’s quite a nice arena
Plus restaurant, school and soccer field
Ikr
Fun fact: Columbus rink is called the Ice Haus and I practice and play there occasionally
The Sens facility as a whole is very nice. Played a tournament there a few years back and it was solid all around. Good ice quality too
Ikr
Same with me, great memories there and two player of the game pucks
7:26 also that rink has 5 windows that are covered in that picture that face out into the street. Gives a cool vibe. 14:44 i wish you could see the other side of the rink. It has glass walls the length of the rink. It’s the offices for the sales team as well as management, GM, Owner, etc. If you have any questions or would like more detail I helped open that rink and still help to this day. Also its on the 8th floor of a parking garage, yes, on the top of a parking garage and they have double rinks.
I think the photo used for Vegas is the second rink in the building the main practice rink has the castle score clock.
That photo was taken very early on. The LED screen and castle were added later on, along with new paint and other improvements.
@@cheetahgaming9689 yes! The bear is awesome!!!
@@B1izzardd man I really thought it’d be number one but Minnesota ain’t to shabby
@@CRM1998 It should be #1 tho I’m biased because I work there
I used to play in the Chicago Blackhawks practice rink before I moved and it is absolutely beautiful. The area is not the best, but the rink was newly built about 3 years ago and it always has a clean smell. There are 2 sheets of ice and the best part: it has the stadium food there
For the ducks rink I was in that picture, it was a game of the rookies from the kings and ducks having a scrimmage
Me Too! I was sitting just under where the picture was taken! The San Diego Gulls are currently playing there for this season.
I’ve played on the blue jackets practice rink and the best part are the windows leading into the hallway of the main arena.
Small bleacher area and much more enclosed for privacy.
the bruins' one is so pretty with the huge window and the view. definitely an upgrade from their old one
The Calgary Flames practice at the dome but also practice at rec centres like west side red.
"It's got a light on it, cause it gets dark down there"
I'm dying 🤣🤣
They practice at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
i love playing at the capitals practice arena, it is like on top of a 6-10 level garage and is higher up then most of the building around it
The Sabres practice at Harbor Center.
Ikr
The Canucks don’t practice there. They just practice at Rogers arena. That rink is at UBC. They honestly never practice there
If you were wondering Neil, the oilers practice facility is attached to Rogers Place and I’ve been there before.
Played at the wilds practice facility myself! Such a cool rink!
The Belfor Training Center is underneath Little Caesars Arena and it’s not only the Wing’s practice rink, it is also the home of Little Caesars hockey
haha I knew before you even started the list that Minnesota would be #1 - it's such a stunning facility, perched up in the middle of the St Paul skyline.
Anaheim’s building is a massive 280,000 square feet, 3 NHL sized sheets including the 2,500 seat arena, plus an Olympic sized sheet. It’s really 👍🏻
The Ottawa Senators Practice facility has 4 Ice Pads (1 Olympic size), and now they have 4 Complexes that use the name "SensPlex" in Ottawa.
I play at the Caps facility, it's very nice (when you are allowed to use the locker rooms.)
Yea lol I’m from Toronto and my team went there for a tournament it was pretty cool
Ikr
Fun fact: Warrior (Ice Arena) is a New Balance product and the company's HQ is a couple blocks away from the Bruins' practice arena.
Fun fact about the wings practice stadium. Those banners are the original banners from the joe. Also the facility is underground.
Fun fact that sabres rink is actually 6 floors up connected to a hotel right next to the stadium, there’s multiple rinks too
I skate at the islanders practice facility all the time. Where they practice, they have 2 additional rinks; One inside and one outside. All three thinks have public sessions.
