Not going to lie, I "cheat" a lot with most of my maps. I typically use terrain.party heightmaps. terraforming a map from scratch is quite time consuming and tedious. Even if you do custom terraforming, terrain.party heightmaps can make a great base for you go off of. Now I know some purists will probably say using heightmaps is cheating but they are a very useful tool if you hate terraforming and want to cut way down on how much terraforming you need to do.
It takes a lot of careful detailing to make a map look good when using terrain party - so to be honest: I don't think it is cheating at all. And I believe terrain party was especially made , so Cities Skylines map creators could use it .
Long slopes for rivers are bound to cause problems (might be okay for short ones). So if you do run into issues, I recommend you to make them in a staircase-kinda way (long steps of maybe 5 or 10 metres height difference), placing continous water sources if necessary. The problem with these kind of slopes are waves building up that eventually make your rivers run dry at some place for a short moment.
Max Mustermann Yup. Another way to combat this problem is to make rapids with rocks in the problem areas of your river. It forces the river to bottleneck itself and smooth out the choppy waves.
Great feedback guys.... but there's a big secret that has yet to be revealed. Of course this is the very early stages as well and there's a lot of tinkering to follow with the rivers. All will make sense in the end (I hope). There is a big reveal hidden within a What Map later in the week, regarding this build.
Watching you build , you only use the original brushes ? I dont even remember how they look like.....Cool to look how you do it , we all have different styles to build a map... I can see you are using to huge water sources if you gonna use that source for rivers its way to huge , pick a number under 10 or it gonna flood your land and Another tip for you mr Bonbon is to put stones out first Before placing the watersource if you wanna hide it , I usually use a watersource of size 1-3 for rivers , you started with 37 , those numbers are important .....Enjoy the tips ....
Hello everybody! Can you answer me, both bonbon or another people :) How to make a new island on cities skyline? I'm confused. Please answer :D thamk you!
Hi Jewe. From the Main Menu go to Editors > Map Editor, and create a new map. If you need to learn how to use the tools here's my Terraform Tutorial. You won't need to get the mod as the editor uses these tools as standard. th-cam.com/video/-gMQDm3YnGE/w-d-xo.html
Good map??? I haven't even barely started, not by a long shot. This was 30 minutes work, my last map took 20 hours, this might be the same, or longer. It'll be uploaded to the workshop when finished. Just be sure to come back each Monday to see how it develops :-)
Thanks for the links via PM, Hendrik; definitely going to use one of those So in the absense of a reply from Parysk I visited their channel. Honestly, the music there is even more mindnumbing than the music in this video. I get the feeling whatever music I go with this commenter isn't going to like; his channel's music is all 'kids music' to this particular old guy :D

That's not cheating. And my next map will involve some terrain party. But I wanted to do one more freehand :-)

I'm looking forward to seeing your map making, and hear your thoughts about it.
