I'm so tired of hearing clowns begging for a remastered remake of Underground. UG started everything that is wrong with the series to this day. If anything, this game deserves a remake the most.

UG and MW weren't bad, but it was nothing NFS was about. The true feel of NFS got lost with the sequel (NFS II). NFS 1 was more like Gran Tourismo by it's physics. I still hope for the remake.

The nostalgia of seeing this is amazing. It reminds me of Christmas 94 so much as I was lucky enough to get a used 3do from an add in the paper! This was only possible as my parents were not willing to buy a brand new one because of the cost. It came with FIFA and another game I can’t remember, but with my extra Christmas money I went out to buy another game but wasn’t sure which one. I’m so glad I went for NFS, I was blown away by it. The graphics and gameplay were incredible! We had the family around on New Years Eve with it set up downstairs with people taking turns, wonderful times.
For so few cars, it had a nice variety. Imports (RX7, NSX, Supra), Muscle (Corvette and Viper) and exotics (Porsche, Lamborgini and Ferrari) and OP busted car that stomps on everything (Warrior).
+Stephen T Agreed, NFS Porsche (PC version) was a state of the art game in every aspect. I still play it thanks to nGlide, and NFS SE with DosBox (tooks me a lot of time to configure properly, but now I get it working, even with my F710 gamepad properly working).
nfs high stakes psx is the best. it was the biggest leap from nfs. it was an arcade - semi-simulator game with perfomance tuning , damage , semi realistic physics , police. etc
One of the earliest games I remember playing, and I remember being more interested in the FMV sequences and blasting past police cars than actually racing. I did usually go with the Corvette though, because it was the closest car they had to KITT.
It was my first Racing game (along with Network Q RAC Rally Championship) and I still play it sometimes. Still need to play through the Tournament at one point.
@@SusieFanK Network Q Rally was fantastic too (I did drive that one more; technically my dad had borrowed NFS from a friend for a while) and I usually picked the Mégane because I liked the blue/yellow and the blue wheels. To this day the music in that game is great to listen to. I still have the intro memorised. Did you ever play a more cartoony top down racing game called Ignition? That's on Steam now.
@@ProtoKun7 Heard about it but never played. The one Top-down racing game i did played was Death Rally. It was an awesome Vehicular combat title. Also, i usually picked the Megane too for the same reason but the Proton Wira was good too. And gotta agree, NQ Rally had such a great soundtrack.

Pena que na época minha máquina não atendia aos requisitos do game e eu somente podia admirar nas imagens. Só mais para frente pude realmente comprovar o quanto ele era e é realmente incrível.
I remember spending hours on end every day for like 3 years playing this game. Funny how the first gen viper was the easiest to drive of all the cars in the game haha. Wish I could find my old cd, that was probably my favorite game of all time, even to this day haha
Was this the only NFS1 title along with the Saturn version that had in-race music? All the footage I've watched from the 3DO, PSX and PC non-SE version has music only in the menus.
@@SusieFanK Hmm... I don't think so, i have played both versions on PC back in the day and they have different engine sounds for every car. But NFS vanilla had no race music and only 1 menu music. SE had two more tracks too...

This game was way ahead of its time! The sounds were great, and each car had it's own physics, thanks to the cooperation of Road & Track magazine thact acually TESTED the cars and provided the performance and handling data. And, of course, the awesome videos in the showcase that makes anyone dreaming about having those cars... GT series is great, the cars are top notch detailed and the physics are great, but the sounds could be better, especially the gear shifts, looks like every car is automatic.

The makers of this game did a pioneering job of racing games to come. I had it on windows 95 & enjoyed countless hrs.

I used to do the same thing with my dad, taking turns (and me usually being caught by the police all the Time xD)

This is still the best one. The new NFS Titles are arcady crap, with a cheap illusion of speed and zero respect for physics .
NFS Porsche Unleashed was probably the most realistic out of them all.

My nfs1 have only 1 car sound as well when this video have different car sound for different car
If i'm not mistaken, the original Need For Speed has only 1 car sound, while Special Edition (played that in the video) has multiple.
