American 7-11 is nothing like in Japan! “Convenience stores” in the US pretty much just sell basic medicine, shelf-stable food, and terrible hot dogs and coffee ☹️

Girl. London is a toilet free zone. I once had a great tourist guide basically giving us a tour of all the cheap and clean toilets in London (St. Pauls Cathedral has a big nice one!). She was awesome (the guide, not the toilet)!
Many Japanese still don’t really want to use credit cards or debit cards because we can’t use cards when earthquakes happen. Only cashes work when the electricity is out 💴
A lot of this is available in London too, and in Auckland when I lived there. So I think maybe they're not that different if you live in a big city, compared to small cities? Also! Toilets in London have changed a lot haha the station ones are free now and have been for ages. There's also a lot of stores in central that have toilets so it's never a big deal for us haha. My corner shop is open until like 10pm and I don't live in central, some central ones are 24hr. I would say mine is a convenience store. They have a bakery, sell fresh sushi and other food and have an atm and other things you can do there. I think it's very different to how you remember or think of it! You can pay bills and send parcels and pick up amazon and stuff at the corner stores in London. Some have printers, but not all.
Could you make a video about how much riding with public transportations costs? Like, from where to where, how many stops and how much it is etc. Would be really interesting to know, since it seems like you use them a lot ☺️

Germany has the same issue with toilets, you get charged and they aren't even everywhere even in city centers of big cities. I have mentally mapped out all the public toilets in my cities center in my head but I know for a fact that tourists have a lot of trouble finding them. You are basically just shit out of luck if you aren't in the city center then you have to go into a restaurant and ask nicely but they legally don't have to let you use the toilet. Which is obviously bad for many reasons.
I just get all my bills to my email and get to pay for them through online banking. This is the most convenient way in my opinion. I guess if no access to internet or when online transactions are not common, then I guess it’s convenient. You can also put reminders into your phone calendar to notify you, when it’s time to pay the pills, but I also recommend to have maybe a little desk calendar, where you can write the dates down. For online purchases I just have a my regular bank card, what you can also use to make purchases online. Only thing about the printers in my opinion is that it’s too expensive, where I live. I have to go to the city library, if I have run out of ink, luckily printing there is cheaper, than just buying ink. Tickets I can buy online or at the mall. I do wish you could just send a package from a grocery store. It would be very convenient, also ATM machine, they keep removing them for some reason. Yeah most toilets here you have to pay for and a lot of times, they are so dirty too, like in bus stations.
In so many places outside Japan almost all transactions can be done through automatic bank withdrawals of your payments or automatic transactions on your credit card. All can be managed from your computer. If you have a printer you can get one with with a photocopying and scanning function. My Cannon sends a notice to my computer when the ink is running low and I can order it for delivery on the spot. For me having to leave my home to go to a "convenience" store is a total pain in the butt. Too many steps, tickets whatever. Getting things done outside Japan is much more convenient than many Japanese "conveniences."
Yeah driving to a convenience store would be inconvenient for me too but I think they have a lot of them within walking distance in Japan. They do a lot of walking and train riding anyway, whereas I wouldn’t be able to get anywhere without a car.
@@Trislovesu Sure. In Japanese cities the convenience stores are usually within a block or two. The countryside is a little different. In either case whether you walk or drive you still have to leave your house which outside of Japan you usually don't need to do. You only need to grab your keyboard to do the same thing.
gas stations here are mini convenient stores, though they don't have alot of stuff. i think 7Eleven, Circle K, and the BP down the road from me are more along the lines of actual convenience. (unless you're lucky enough to have a 24/7 pharmacy near you since vast majority of them and grocery stores--even Walmart now!--close at like 10 or 11) i knew that you could pull money internationally from the ATMs at conbini in japan, just didn't know the cash increments. also heard that the conversion rate is a little better at the conbini ATMs than at like the airport kiosks?
@@mikanmandarin same. The 100 yen fee is a little annoying so I wish I could use my American card but it’s still worth it. Another problem I have is that I can’t download the Mercari Japanese app because my App Store account isn’t a Japanese one so I can only use it through search engine. :(
I wonder why you don't use cards as much in Japan? Is there a reason to it? And how do people get out cash without a card? In England we do have a few of those things u mentioned, especially when it comes to parcels, you can get parcels delivered to corner shops, I know that DPD, Hermes and Amazon definitely offer this service. And then u can also drop parcels off at corner shops especially like ASOS returns for example u just get an email with a code and they scan it and they print the label and do all the rest. When it comes to bills I don't think u can pay them in corner shops but bills just come out of your bank account via direct debit or standing order anyway, you can however top up your gas and electricity if u have a smart meter u just gotta take your top up cards with u or get it up on the app. I wish we had printers and coffee machines tho I don't think many corner shops do those. Anyway, loved the video xx
Amazon lockers are in the US! Very convenient when I lived in the dorms because the service desk took forever to process packages where as I just had them sent to the locker and I could get it straight when it’s delivered
In the US you pay all your bills online with a card, also all of gas stations have public restrooms that are free (normally gross though).

gas stations here are mini convenient stores, though they don't have alot of stuff. i think 7Eleven, Circle K, and the BP down the road from me are more along the lines of actual convenience. (unless you're lucky enough to have a 24/7 pharmacy near you since vast majority of them and grocery stores--even Walmart now!--close at like 10 or 11)
i knew that you could pull money internationally from the ATMs at conbini in japan, just didn't know the cash increments. also heard that the conversion rate is a little better at the conbini ATMs than at like the airport kiosks?
Paying at 7/11 has saved me using Mercari in Japan. 😂😂
Omg so true it doesn’t accept my card??
@@mikanmandarin same. The 100 yen fee is a little annoying so I wish I could use my American card but it’s still worth it.
Another problem I have is that I can’t download the Mercari Japanese app because my App Store account isn’t a Japanese one so I can only use it through search engine. :(
HIII!!!!
I just discovered today that I can buy switch games in the konbini, so cool
What do you mean when you say local Mandarin ? I don’t get it?
how did you learn Japanese?
Philippines convenient stores could neverrr:)
i forgot to pay my bills so many times in japan 😭 it was so hard to remember
Thank god it’s not just me lol
took me a bit to decide if this vid was another meme like the other one 😅😅
