My family is from Kaiping, Guangdong, and my maternal grandparents and parental grandma immigrated to Canada to help raise my cousins, siblings, and me. They took care of us since we were babies that's why Mama Lau's words brought tears to my eyes - Cam is going to grow up to be a wonderful person because his grandparents, parents, aunties, and uncles love him so much!!
Thank you so much for sharing that story with us. We're so touched to hear that my mom's words moved you to tears! That's so great to hear that the love translates through our videos :) I totally agree! Cam is so loved and has so many great role models to look up to.

To date we have over 180 aunties, uncles, and cousins with the surname of Quan. The majority of us were born in Los Angeles but have since relocated throughout the United States. Yes, I remember celebrating the 100 Day celebration with the red eggs, ginger, and wine soup 🥰. As a family we still celebrate Chinese New Year, Qing Ming, and Mid-Autumn Festival. Hey Lau family, I just wanted to say that these videos are fantastic. A lot of people can't travel to be with their families during these holidays due to the pandemic, so it's been a real treat that you've invited us to be a part of yours through these videos. Thanks so much Lena! We are so happy to hear you are enjoying how dad gives instructions. Thanks for the suggestion. We'd love to do that one! Adding more votes for it in our list 🙌
Our Cantonese family just welcomed our first and what will probably be our only grandchild so we are super excited to be able to make some red eggs and ginger! That said, after much trial and red dye all over the counter today, we learned a few things that others might find helpful - the McCormick’s red dye worked the best. We initially bought Kroger’s and Paas (Easter this week so egg dye was prevalent) which resulted in a pale pink wash of color, not what we wanted so we had to go back to the store for a different dye. Also, we followed your instructions first but the color took a lot longer to take and was not saturated. We then followed McCormicks instructions to use 1 cup BOILING water + 1 tsp vinegar and that resulted in a deep even red orange. Good luck and congratulations to those who are making this!
Oh great tips Kit!! Thank you so much for sharing. Yes we have heard recently that this dye process can be quite tricky. So grateful that you took the time to share your findings!
It’s so nice you’re sharing and partaking in your cultural traditions. I am mixed myself, Filipino-Chinese, with family from Fujian. Many people in our generation don’t care to preserve these old traditions, so this really brought a smile to my face.
Wow, thank you for taking the time to share. We are so grateful that you found our channel, and can’t wait to continue sharing many more recipes with and the world ❤️
I'm really glad to have discovered your channel! I'm definitely learning a lot, esp skills to take away and try out. I also just checked out your website, and it's definitely making me think about how I only got to know one of my grandparents (and even then, I was never close to her or got to know her well before she passed) so thinking about passing on knowledge I know (and don't know) that my parents have for the future. I don't have children (and probably won't for a couple of years) but I want to be more proactive about it, esp because my parents are definitely at the age where they could pass at some point. Really appreciate your work, and looking forward to more!

Such a good tradition to keep up. Teared up when grandma gave blessings to Cam Cam... My baby gonna turn 1 in a week and I'm learning from Cam Cam's grandpa to make red eggs 😁 - this is a tradition I would want to do for my baby's birthdays moving forward. BTW really cool and talented dad u have! Wish your family all the best 💐
Thanks for sharing and happy 100 days Cam Cam! I wish you double happiness and long life! I remember to help a woman recover from childbirth there used to be a traditional soup made from pig trotters, black vinegar, eggs and ginger. Does your mother know of this soup? For me this channel is full of nostalgia from my childhood. Thanks for the great content!
It’s sooo good! I’ve made it in the past just to enjoy it. Lots of ginger is the key to post partum recovery I am told. Keeps the warmth in the body. The Chinese are so afraid of the cold and damp, very bad for your organs and chi according to traditional Chinese medicine.
@@MadeWithLau Did your wife do the month long confinement? No going outside, no washing hair, or bathing for a month ( sponge bath only ) it’s a bit too much so I never followed it, except I sure enjoyed all the special healing foods.
@Rosie you know what interestingly enough both her and my parents said she didn't need to. They didn't mind her washing and actually encouraged it. Although both moms encouraged not to go outside if windy though and also to not let her hair be wet.
@@MadeWithLau yours and her parents are much less traditional. My MIL and SIL are very old fashioned when I had my kids 39 yrs ago. I drove them crazy when I refused to follow anything. Yup, they said no wind and no air conditioning either.🙄
This reminds be of the banquets my folks would take us to at Chicago Chinatown. Big 10 course meals. Always soup first, fried rice last. A plate of red eggs and ginger was on every table. In my family, we usually crack the egg after boiling and before adding the red color so the boiled eggs are marbleld red on the white!
