I took my Rivian on a 900 Mile Roadtrip to Overland Expo West!

- In this video we take a 900+ mile roadtrip to Overland Expo West in Flagstaff Arizona. We check out a couple new Rivian charging stations and finish the entire journey completely with free charging. At Overland Expo I take some time to walk around and check out some other Rivian builds and meet some awesome people along the way. We also take a quick trip down to beautiful Sedona for a hike. Enjoy!

I installed Range Industry’s Marina Rack which sits flush with factory cab roof crossbars. Love it. It created tons of space.

First off, welcome to AZ! Hope you enjoyed it (looks like you did except for the weather 😢).
I drive semi-regularly from Phoenix up to Pinetop and the "Charging Required" warning comes up all the time, then about half way through it updates and says we can make it without stopping. I hope Rivian improves their estimates in the future. But for now this appears "normal".
Great video, hope next time to meet you in person! I wasn't at the expo (didn't even know it was a thing until this video, so thanks for enlightening me) but I'll be going next time if it happens again!

I love the decked out Rivian's but dood, way overkill for me. I prefer a setup like you. Simple, functional, maybe only a little more than what you need. Still cool to see so much equipment for the Rivian though! I'm also always worried about range decreases with the more stuff you add...

Sure would be nice if Rivian could make meaningful improvements to the phantom drain. The cumulative waste across the fleet isn’t consistent with their commitment to the environment. Another great video, thanks!
I agree! There is still a lot they can do to improve efficiency. I am experiencing about 1% drain with my brand new R1T, which is better than the 3-4% that guys were getting just a few months ago per forum anecdotes. I am going on vacation for a month and that will result in about 30% drain. Not the end of the world, but my Model 3 would did not having any drain when leaving it garaged at 50% last summer.

awesome trip! I am definitely interested in what you wind up doing with your iKamper, whether you find a bed rack to raise it up higher. The two I keep tossing around in my mind are Xtrusion Overland and Overland Ruff Rax. The first gives you choice in height, which could be advantageous. Anyway, I enjoy watching your channel, keep up the great work!
Definitely considering a rack at some point soon - I like the idea of height adjustability as well. Happy to hear you are enjoying the channel🙌🏻
10% battery loss / 13kw in 3 days is an insane amount of vampire draw. Really surprised they haven't been able to fix that yet. Makes me think there are some inherent flaws in the initial design they won't be able to fix in software.
It’s definitely way more than I would like to see but hoping it’ll eventually be fixed through a software update !

What an epic trip. It's nice you got to squeeze in a hike too. I think I prefer a more minimalist style for everyday driving. Super curious to see how having a rack with the ikamper on top would affect range.

Awesome video. Seems like you drove in Conserve mode the entire way and in the low or lowest ride height. Did you ever drive in all purpose at standard height?
Thanks! I mostly used Conserve because 95% of this trip was highway driving👍🏻
Random question but your phone had red colored text at night similar to the night mode you can get with the ultra watch. Is that an app or what setting is that. I think it was around the 15:23 mark
Hey Jason! Had to go back and take a look at that but it’s actually just the color difference between the Rivian screens and my iPhone. I do use night mode on the phone that gives it more of a warm hue which is probably why it looks almost red in the video 👍🏻
Great direction on the video. One thing though, the background audio was sometimes too loud compared to your voice

I probably won’t be able to make it this year but hope to attend at some point - Oregon is definitely on my list of places to visit!

It just takes too long to charge honestly.....37 min for 256 (maybe) miles? So every 3 hours I drive I have to charge for 40 min, just seems a bit much for road trips....cool video still though ❤
Yeah I can understand that! I haven’t found the charging stops to be too much of an inconvenience because generally after 3-4hrs of driving I’m ready to stretch my legs a bit. I would definitely like to see a little faster charging times though! Glad you enjoyed the video🙌🏻

Really? you would have spent over $250 on gas on this trip. He spent $Zero. My previous vehicle was Land Cruiser, and Rivian is a so much superior. I ain’t going back to fossil fuel
😂 200 miles is 74% of your power and took over an hour to recharge 😂😂😂😂 I LOVE my fossil fuel powered truck. These electric vehicles are a joke.
That's not a typical charge time. Also, does your truck have 835 hp, quad motors, and perfect torque vectoring? Does it go 320 miles on the energy equivalent of 2 gallons of gas? No? Then the only joke here is whatever garbage you drive.
