I saw an interview where they said she could be allowed out of her contract but Heather wanted to finish the film. She was determined even for a little girl
When it got to this scene I always thought it had Freddy Krueger/A nightmare on elm street vibes. Especially when they go "we're back" and she gets dragged up the wall.
I think it's far better than it was ever given credit for, very artistic approach and it was in no way trying to ride on the coat-tails of the previous films
@@Chef_Alpo I agree. I was 7 or 8 when it had just aired on cable and it kinda creeped me out. I also think it's a better movie than it was given credit for.
Poltergeist was one of my favorite horror movies of all time. This as a kid I remember scaring me more than both a nightmare on elm street and Friday the 13th combined.
Stop with the back in my day b.s. When everything's been done, its hard to find something new, duh. Go create , write and direct yourself, do us a favor in Hollywood
Actually, the swelling of her face was BECAUSE they were NOT neglecting her. She was being prescribed cortisone injections to treat the Crohn's Disease she was misdiagnosed with less than a year before she died, and the swelling was a side effect of the shots. They were indeed taking her to the doctor regularly, UNFORTUNATELY, though they knew she had suddenly developed digestive issues, they had no idea she had Intestinal Stenosis as she showed no prior symptoms of that particular condition. Doctors said the symptoms of it tend to go back YEARS, and is usually not sudden. They had no reason to suspect it or look for it. Yes, she was misdiagnosed, but it was not due to neglect by her parents and I dare say, the doctors either. And yes, she was special. RIP.
@Ainsley Gibson To be fair. She was falsely diagnosed for Crohn’s disease which they prescribed her with a steroid (Cortisone) which made her face swollen. So she was perscribed with a drug for something she didn’t have. Turns out when they examined her after she passed, she had stenosis. If they had spotted that earlier and treated heather, she would still be alive today!! Hope this correction helps!! 😁God bless Heather O’Rourke (Carol Anne Freeling)
@James Willis They gave her cortisone (steroids) because they thought she had Crohn’s disease, which made her face swollen and she was self conscious about the way she looked. She passed from genetic stenosis, they could have spotted it and had her treated soon as possible. Sweet little girl, my auntie used to be in the same class as her when she was younger. Never shy but she didn’t wanted to be recognised as Carol Anne Freeling from Poltergeist but the way she is, a Normal human being. Which she loved her for it. God bless her. RIP Heather
That second one , Kane done brilliantly by an actor that pass away shortly after . Poltergeist 2 may be the greatest horror movie sequel ever , along with Phantasm 2 … Texas Chainsaw 2 was pretty epic .
Good film though it's a Shame that the young Actress Heather O'Rourke passed away So young,She would Have in my opinion Gone on to more Greater things in life But sadly it wasn't to Be.
The first movie mentions that she was born in the original house that was haunted, and that the ghosts were attracted to her youthful innocence. The second movie explains it a bit better though, and suggests that she also had the ability to 'see' and sense things that other people couldn't.
I think evil things think beautiful spirits can cure/heal them. For real. They try to take it for themselves, but it doesn't work that way. Children are usually purer spirits before they are trained out of their own natural power.
OK...let me say, Poltergeist III was a totally unnecessary sequel and often my "Mystery Science Theater 3000" riff...I quote so many bad things about this film. But it has it's charm and it's practical effects were pretty good.
