Edward is the only one who can make the "I have this friend who went through this" excuse work. I was genuinely shocked at the reveal that number 38 wasn't just a friend of his... Very impressive twist, and a truly bone chilling story about abuse and mental anguish. Beautifully handled and truly heartfelt. I love the human drawings, too. Adds a LOT, using these instead of the standard trainz figures.
I agree I feel super sorry for Edward I had no idea he went through this horrible horrible experience that his good good friend Margaret had a horrible problem at least they finally meet again at least that’s some sort of good news
The Edward I know is really really honest and really helpful and loyal and the bravest engine on the sodor plus it wasn’t his fault Margaret went through such horrible pain it wasn’t his fault it wasn’t I know it wasn’t place he is a very respectful and loyal engine
Sadly, even if 38 had said anything prior to the incident, it's more than likely Margret would have taken Archibald's side and Police can only prosecute without a participating Victim if it is in the Public's interest to see Justice done so would be forced to drop any allegations against him. Thankfully, with the severity of the offence and given the number of Witnesses, even if he didn't confess, the Crown would have enough evidence to prosecute him anyway. Sadly, given Margret seemingly leapt of her own accord and wasn't pushed or tripped, the most the Crown can charge him with is Manslaughter. Arguably, you could push for Murder because what else was he doing on the viaduct pointing a gun at her but either forcing her to jump or intending to shoot her and dispose of the body by chucking it into the river but it'd rest heavily on the Prosecutor to prove premeditated intent to murder.
I can imagine this playing out out a lot differently is if Alfred aled greedy or Cronin was switched out with number 38 Alfred with a flat-out said no and told cops aled greedy secret secret and essentially little different he would run over the husband Reese's that when he's running him over no questions asked and crevan would have simply tell the cops the minute he saw her being attacked
