It's high above what are called the "straights area." It's where Lakes Michigan and Huron, come together. Also check out the Zilwaukee bridge, which is also in Michigan. Lots of folks find the Pulaski Skyway in NJ scary. I love it, it's iconic NJ, but it was designed when people built for railroads, not cars; it was the first expressway in the US. as a result, it has inner (fast lane) on- and off-ramps (not outer; trains could merge onto an empty track, but not cars) and no real room for acceleration and to see what's coming at you (although the recent rebuild somehow managed to add a few feet of acceleration space).

Honorable mention, perhaps, to the Sunshine Skyway Bridge over Tampa Bay. The original bridge was severely damaged when it was hit by the MV Summit Venture. 1400 feet of roadway dropped straight into the bay, and nearly three dozen people died.
The bridge was later rebuilt, and parts of the original are still standing: they're used as fishing piers. Still, there is a very creepy vibe about that bridge (some say it's haunted), and the cables at the apex can be disorienting if you've never crossed it before.
Oh, and all those red phones near the top of the main span? Those aren't there to assist stranded motorists. Those are crisis intervention phones for, shall we say, extremely distressed pedestrians.
All in all, an EXTREMELY creepy bridge.

The CBBT Chesapeake bay bridge and tunnel complex is 23 miles long (20 miles from toll booth to toll booth) so how you are saying the bridge in Canada at 8 miles is the longest in the world is way off. Sections of this bridge are longer and scarier, and it has under water sections. At times it looks like boats are crashing into the bridge.

    • @RayRay-zt7bj

Yeah, I don't know how or why they are saying it's the longest bridge. The Danyang-Kunshan Grand Bridge in China is like 70 miles long. NOexagerration! Also, the Lake Ponchartrain Causeway in Louisiana is 24 miles long.

Royal Gorge in Colorado could be on this list. The bridge is 955 feet above the Arkansas River and was the highest bridge in the world until 2001 when it was surpassed by the Liuguanghe Bridge in China. As a kid we use to go there, which was some 30+ years ago. I believe its been reinforced and rebuilt by now but it used to be a little creaky, you could drive across back then. When there was wind it would sway and buckle a little bit. lol It terrified me
