      Thank You. It’s a good mower. I’m glad I was able to fix it. Half of the issues people have are that they don’t put the knives away at the end of the season

    Thank you again for taking us along. It was just what I needed to see, besides just seeing someone getting on with real stuff in a crazy world, it reminded me that you take the cutting bar out from the tractor side. Never done it before, but broke the last tooth away from the Farmall Cub and need to change it. Hoping to find a double one as its said it helps to stop the teeth clogging up, which is something I ve been struggling with..I try to do the same as you, just see what the day brings along and try to take it as it comes. Lesson I m still learning in my 74 th year. Good wishes to all of you from France.

      Those double sections work great on the end for sure and I change all mine to that eventually. The world is a scary place indeed. When I was sent to the Middle East in the late 1990s, I saw a small camp from France on the base and I greeted them in French (Mom is from Québéc). We became instant friends . Thank You for watching 😊

    You do a good job working with that older equipment. I liked how you replaced the mower blade. My neighbor came today and replaced the blade on my Enorossi sickle mower blade the same way. It's a double acting blade. I use it to mow hay and trim the pastures for my Dorper hair sheep (who are currenting lambing my second wave of lambs). They are very prolific--Just keep having more lambs.

    My grandfather's B with the same mower you got you used a manual level to lift it and lower it, I've still got the mower but my grandfather sold the tractor to my cousin.

      Is that the same mower that went on a straight A? There’s a few B Farmall tractors around here for sale. I think one has a mower, but it’s hand lift too. Did the B have a pneumatic lift option?

    Looks like it does as good of a job as the day it was made . I was wondering how it would do with the rocks sticking out of the ground but it just hopped over them . I hope you make enough hay for the winter because things are getting crazy . Thanks for sharing and have a great day !

      It will for sure jump right over the smaller ones. The ones that would break it are generally like egg-shaped that stuck up and will bust the rock guards. The big rocks will trip it. It cuts better than my brand new maschio. Haha. Thank You for watching

      I do like my Cub with the sickle bar mower too. The great thing about a Cub mower is there are still lots of parts out there and you can leave it on and still have a tractor to tow stuff. Thank You for watching

      We had a cub. And it had the mid mount sickle bar mower. nice because you do not have to keep looking back. However ours the engine wasnt up to cutting really thick grass. We sold that cub. We have a Super A and it has enough power to pull a 7 ft bar in the thickest of grass.

    • @tommys_trucks_trains_tractors
      @tommys_trucks_trains_tractors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thecollectoronthecorner7061 a Super A is better in so many ways. The Cub gearing is often too fast or too slow. The Howard rotovator came with a speed reducer so the Cub could till. That would probably be handy in thick grass too. My 140 has a 7’ mid mount A-22 mower. The problem is there’s no breakaway so you gotta be careful 😖

    230 is a little pain in my book. We have that same mower. You have to take the fast hitch loose from the lift arms and they connect solid to the tractor. There is a cable (IIRC) that connects to the cylinder to make the bar go up and down. The fast hitch just acts like a rigid drawbar.

    Only drawback is you have to keep looking back. We mowed with rear mounted sickle bar's for decades. Pulled one with a H when I was a kid. Didnt bother me looking back to see how it was doing then. Now Im past 70 and dont turn so great. We have a mid mount for the Super A. However not it has a woods belly mower. We lucked out and bought for $750 a 301 A JD with a mid mount hyd lift sickle bar. It will mow from a vertical position to 33 degrees below horizontal. Its a industrial version . and low to the ground & easy to get on and off of it. Has a canopy to shade ya. and power steering and is a joy to operate.

      @tommys_trucks_trains_tractors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My nephew has a 301 A that he bought from a golf course. It’s very similar to his fathers 300 B and a 1020? It’s a really nice tractor. Mid mount mowers are definitely more ergonomic for sure. My brother mowed roadside for 45 years with a super c and an FC 21 like mine. He got an a-21 on his 140 and then used an a-22. It’s in a couple of my videos. Whatever you do, don’t quit. My Dad drove his Cub well into his 80s😀
