    Thanks for your words of encouragement and support for my Dad! It meant a lot to me that you replied. Everything went well today.
    If you and your channel were around in the early '80s, maybe I wouldn't have ended up at USMA when I tried to get into USAFA. That was a comedy of errors. Still got to have a career flying jets in the civilian world, thanks to dad.
    Keep the faith, my brother!

    That bug on the windshield is freaking out right now. Love this content. Long time Sim Pilot. Your videos of the heli flights are making me reconsider the viability of getting my pilots license. Love the TH-cam Content, Can't wait to check out the books. Keep it up.

    • @yourhandlehere1
      @yourhandlehere1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's almost exactly like a sim. The graphics are bit better. Even the force feedback is in 3D sense-a-round.
      Oh...and there's the possibility of dying in a heap of twisted burning metal when you screw up. I've flown IN a few helicopters but never controlled one. Had a really good ...
      (sigh...let me just think back on that one a minute or two.....man....you really feel yourself hanging from that rotor. The most helicoptery helicopter to ever um...copter by heli means. No doors, legs out, OW! BUG! Legs in. )
      ...ride in a Bell 47 one day with a fella who used to do it between hills while getting shot at in Korea.

    • @Sour_CAG
      @Sour_CAG 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yourhandlehere1 I've done ride along flights (many flying veterans in the family), just never seen the instructor process so clearly as in these vids. I know a sim is nothing to real life. I just feel less intimidated after seeing these training flights. I still think I want a license on fixed wing GA aircraft though

    • @yourhandlehere1
      @yourhandlehere1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Sour_CAG I'm just having fun remembering, I wasn't poking at you.
      Early nineties I guess, I had been flying MSFS, a lot of time in the 172.
      Went to the airport one day when they had a $35 introductory flight expecting to ride along in something, maybe hold the controls a bit. Well we walked out towards a 172. So I went over what I knew while we did the walk around.
      All he ended up doing was talking on the radio and pointing me which way to go.
      I did everything else (him watching closely of course) started it up, taxied to the runway, took off, I think climbed to about 2000- 2500, flew down the river, a couple of loops around a mountain and back.
      Having not played with the brakes much and worried about screwing up, I let him have it the last few hundred feet and touch it down...then I took it back and parked it.
      You would probably have no problem flying anything in real life if you had to....oh no, the pilot is unconscious!... that you spent time on in a good sim. Helluva lot easier to see what you're doing and look around.
