I'm not a senior but your video really helped me I really wanted to use focus modes but the videos that are out there are too fast thank you so much for taking the time to show us
There is a lot of content here! What an excellent video. Naturally I’ll probably have to watch it about 10 times before I master the technique and develop my focus categories. I think an outstanding idea is to create it on paper as you did in the beginning.
Yes! I fooled around not really knowing what I wanted the focus modes to do. The I just wrote it out on paper and it made much better sense. Good luck!
I love your videos because I don’t keep up with so many of the new capabilities that technology offers, often because they exceed my needs of application. I do watch you because you have curated outstandingly new features and then give excellent instructions as to their application. Thank you so much for the obviously endless hours that you spend creating content.
I have never given Focus Modes a thought, but after watching your great tutorial I think I will give them a try. Although I am able to find the apps I want to use because I keep them on my first page of apps, I feel my home screens are too cluttered. So, I will watch this again and try to accomplish using the Focus Modes. Thanks for such an informative, yet easy to follow, video tutorial, Rich! ❤
Hi Alicia! I'm using them more than I thought. I really keep a "minimalist" approach to my iPad so I can find things pretty quickly too. But I must admit that Focus modes to knock most distractions. Hope you're doing well.
Thanks, Rich! I have been able to get my Focus Modes set up and I am enjoying using them! It is always good to learn new, more efficient ways to use my iPad, Apple Watch and iPhone! You do such a great job of keeping us “Seniors” in the know! Thank you for the time you put into these very helpful video tutorials! Have a great day!
This was helpful. What if you want each custom Home Screen to have a unique wallpaper? I watched twice to see if I missed that option but didn't see it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 👍
Hi Rich. I like your tips but I have to watch several times to set up say focus mode. My question is, can I split the screen and then use the split screen to follow what you are creating and create along with you on the right by copying your moves? Cheers Dave
I retired four years ago and have struggled creating and staying on a schedule, which I feel…and have read…is important. Any insight into tools which will help will be much appreciated. Obviously “Reminders” and “Calendar” are available and I use. But I’m think just a generic list that I would try to follow each day - repetitively - would help. Any thoughts?
You don’t need to remove apps one by one from a folder if you use one finger to grab and app, you can use another finger to tap the other apps to add them to the stack and then drag them all at once to the Home Screen.
There's an app in the App Store called "Play." You can save TH-cam videos to this app. You can place a widget on one of your home screens and focus modes and you'll be good to go! Great idea. Thanks so much for watching!
Rich, I have my bank and stock account on my iPad. I have done the 2 layer security with each. However, I was thinking about locking the app itself, and this would be another layer of security. If it is not a security layer, tell me so, and if so then can and how to do it. Roger of Orlando
I'm not sure I completely understand. I'm not sure you can lock an app, or at least I don't have an app on my iPad I can lock. Notes allows the locking of an individual note. And I've done that. Having said that, I do use two-factor authentication on any account I have, including Google and Financial accounts, and I'm comfortable with the level of security that provides. Wish I could help a little more.

Easily the best video I’ve seen on this topic yet.
Focus Modes are so helpful.
Yes they are! And I'm using them more and more. It allows for contextual use of my iPad without distractions. Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks for another great video. Very helpful to me to be able to set up my own focus modes.

Im playing with FOCUS, but I have a question. Is the DOCK the same in ANY focus? Can you have different apps in the dock for different focus modes?
I believe he said the dock stays the same on each focus mode…👀 5:06 so he keeps the apps he’s going to use to keep on the dock… 5:20 👍🏾
