  • Having dreamt of building his very own golf course, PGA Tour player Zac Blair bought land in South Carolina in 2020 and set out to design one of the best courses in the State. With help from Tom Doak and others on the way, The Tree Farm opened in 2023 and we visited with Zac and his Head Pro, Drew, to play the course and hear about the challenge of designing a golf course from scratch.

    The only thing this whole situation is missing is the open to public with accessible cheap-ish prices.
    The vibe is cool but the cost and arrangements to actually play there don't match it at all. It sounds like they were trying to move golf forward by promoting the casual vibe but then just went the old traditional club route money wise. Weird

    Following ZB's journey via social media and podcasts for years to get to this final course was incredible

    This is a cool video. What a great game golf is. As much as I love playing a nice track, I still get the same enjoyment out of playing the muni's.

    I have enjoyed Zac’s vibe and vision for golf over the last several years. However, I didn’t think a private club would be one of them. Disappointing.

    Private golf is the zenith but not attainable by many. Public golf needs to find ways to improve and still be affordable.

    What a way to bring people together with unreasonably high prices. It’s a solid course and staff is amazing..$300-400 green fees worth? It is not. Save your money and splurge on the top courses. If money isn’t an issue totally worth it but if you’re on that golf course you want to play “budget” pull the trigger on a notable course instead.

    Got the chance to play here for The Ringer event. It’s an amazing course that does not have a bad hole. Such a fun walk. When we were there it was just the golf course, almost nothing else built. Hope to get to see again for the totally finished product

    “Come as you are. Come in a collared shirt or tee shirt” - but can’t even access the course webpage without filling out a ‘candidate information statement’. What a joke.

    Golf shouldn't be $400+ a round. Do better

    Played streamsong recently , at over $ 400 a round this makes my moral compass spin off kilter. Way over rated , some good holes, but most greens too tricked up... Golf needs to let the public to play , private clubs need to allow at least some public. It shouldn't be an elitist sport. $400 golf courses need to come down in price...

      Yea and I should be able to sit in the front row, next to the players, at a lakers game! Even though I can’t afford it. Private clubs are for those who can afford it. Public clubs are for everyone. Seems fair and logical. You don’t get to buy a Ferrari just because you want one.

      @@jimlahey3919 you are the problem elites, more money, makes you better, more is better right? Charge more because we can.
      Inflation is ruining everything, and rich people just make it worse.

      Agreed, great course but if you’re splurging and pay that “big green fee” for a bucket list course, go elsewhere. Or save and spend 100-200 more for that DREAM course.

    • @prestonphillips3375
      @prestonphillips3375 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s not at all what he said. There’s a reason you pay more for private courses. Again, this capitalism….don't get bitter, get better
