WOW - for the money this looks fantastic! It is funny how we all love (myself included) these 200, 300. . .1000M Dive watches, when 99.9% of us will never go deeper than a backyard swimming pool. But it is still a fun bragging point. For the money I will most definitely take a chance on this, looks good and it checks a lot of boxes. Even if its just 'okay', having a beater quartz, grab-and-go watch is always good. It is also available in blue, which looks good as well.
I've got the Ratio Freediver, can't fault them for the price, Seiko movement, ceramic bezel, and sapphire crystal glass. The lume is very bright and lasts a long time.
First impression: Citizen Eco-Drive Promaster Diver. It is different, but from "social" distance, one might mistake this for one of those. Seems like a good value choice. A quartz diver makes a very suitable daily watch, and at this price one can't really go very wrong.
@@Ed30675 me too, I just bought a a quartz Citizen Eco Drive Promaster BN0150-28E. I also bought many wrist straps, Oyster strap, NATO Fluro orange, NATO black, plus the rubber strap with US Navy decompression tables printed on the side. It came with a 5 year warranty that I registered online. I may get this one next it looks cool with the lume which I understand may last 8 hours, good enough for me, as former Navy Diver as lume is most important to me for night diving off my yacht.
Hey, Dan. I actually bought the Ratio Freediver automatic SKX style watch as a mod base. Almost everything about the watch is excellent: sapphire crystal, case, and bracelet. The bezel action is only okay. In fact, the bezel locked up, and after forcing it to rotate, I inadvertently changed it from a 120 click to a 60 click bezel 😁. I swapped in a new dial and handset and 7s26 movement (yeah, I needed the Ratio’s NH36 for another watch), and this is one of my favorite mods. And it’s comfortable to wear! The best part? After discounts, it was only $130 delivered to the US. Pretty amazing!
@@gowthamaravind3948 I replaced the dial and hands on my Free Diver, but I believe the modder in this video said that not all SKX parts are compatible, though you may want to check the video.
I am waiting for Amazon any day now for Ratio 2, 1000M, the newer style. You can't fight with this low price. It look almost same as yours. Watching your video, wow.......impressive. I swim daily in an indoor pool. I need something simple and clear to see. Very impressive for $165.00 shipped. I hope no issues.
I had a conversation with my wife the other day. I told her that I had a Steeldive 1000m watch, and that my problem had gone from I hope my watch still works, to Who am I going to get to go for my watch? She asked how deep can divers go? A quick Google later, we found that apparently the deepest manned none-submersible dive-suit is capable of about 750m... Where do I hire deep-dive ROV or manned submersibles from? UK/US Navy maybe? It might be cheaper to buy a pallet of 1000m watches.
Great review and narration with excellent camera work! I've recently bought the II Ratio Freestyle automatic day-date, blue dial with blue silicon strap. I must say I was overwhelmed for the price, its fantastic. All that for less than £160 is incredible! Superb quality fabulous fit and finish, a heavy-duty watch without being massively bulky! Unusual flat crystal for such a deep diver but 1000 meters and that helium escape valve adds a level of cool-sh!t that beats my other Seiko and Citizen divers watches hands down. II Ratio also make a 500 meter divers that is also worth checking out.
Great looking dive watch! I like it on first site. Can't wait for your review! I'll probably never go diving either even though I live in SW Florida, but its nice to know your watch is EXTREMELY water proof and rugged in case I fall off a moving boat.
Hey Dan,I've used creation watches a few times and it's actually been a pleasure, great price's and delivery time. I love the budget watch hobby. Thanks for showing us the Ratio, it's a cool looking watch. I've been tempted with the Ratio watches for months now, finding trhem on City Watches UK originally, City Watches UK and Creation Watches appear to be the same company. Looking at the the Ratio ranges, the Tauchmeister 1937 range of watches seem to be the same basic design with frills. Now I'm torn...

Update seven months later this watch is very tough and I put it through some hard situations and no scratches on the Sapphire or ceramic bezel inlay amazing watch
Tauchmeister “made” the same watch. I picked up an automatic for $130 on Amazon shipped from Germany with probable Chinese origin. I like this dial/brand better than my tauchmeister. Maybe I have a clone? Enjoy!
Has anyone tried the newer Ratio 2nd Generation Free Diver Helium-Safe Quartz 1038EF102V-BLU-V02, 1000M Men’s Sapphire Divers Watch yet? It is a larger version apparently they tell me at 49mm.
Nice watch but it is almost exactly the Seiko 1986 Quartz Diver's 35th Anniversary Limited Edition S23635, quartz watch with ISO certified 1000m water resistance.....no HEV necessary though due to advanced Seiko technology, however it does cost $2,600!! This is a nice one and at £83 it's a very good bargain. As someone who dives it's true that it's only for backup these days and I've used Seiko's mostly but also a Heimdallr and Steeldive which were fine, but if I was to go seriously deep diving , no way would I chance using this unless it's ISO certified to that depth, which isn't mentioned on the site, so this is not a proper dive watch Dan and I would not use that term for anything that is not properly certified as such. If I missed something on the specs and is tested and certified, I stand corrected.
I assume you know what free diving is. I've tried it myself, maybe you too, though I doubt it. There are a number of forms of free diving including Constant Weight, Free Immersion, Variable Weight, a couple of pool disciplines, and of course No Limits free diving being the most challenging. I haven't met anyone who was able to hold their breath at even 400 metres, or even 200 metres. The world records are somewhat short of that. The best free diver I know personally can stay under at 20 metres. A 150m-200m water resistant watch is fine for 99.9% of free divers....and even scuba divers. This watch however has a 1000m water resistance, and a Helium Escape Valve. No free diver is ever going to need that. If you were a diver yourself, you wouldn't have written this comment. You would have understood my point. So, no free diver will ever need a watch with 1000m on the dial and an escape valve. I wasn't criticizing the watch itself, just that it's designation as a free diver is incorrect. In fact it's just a marketing label. A free diver watch means absolutely nothing. Certification or no certification has nothing got to do with it.
@@brianmsahin yes I do know what free diving is and have done it no I have not scuba dived do your research they go by as a free diver watch not iso certified it’s a good quality watch thank you
@@jasonduncan545 It's a very nice watch. If you have done some free-diving that's great. Just because a dive watch isn't certified, that does not make it a free-diver watch. There are hundreds of non ISO dive watches, I use then myself.. They're dive watches, nobody ever called them free-divers. This is just marketing BS. It means absolutely nothing. So other than the name they gave it what distinguishes this watch from every other non ISO dive watch that makes this different enough to be called a free- diver?

I have the mint green version but it has issues, firstly being green with green hands its eligible through the night,it has the worst bezel of any watch I own, the movement of the bezel is, even at this price is unacceptable and after wearing it to bed, every morning the bezel has moved All by itself,so hardly practical if you were actually using it for diving. The lume is ok if you point a torch at it for a few moments but barely lasts for half an hour, another reason for the eligibility.its a nice looking watch but flawed
what is this nipple thing at left side for ? :D - nice toy for people do their morning workout diving down Mariana Trench. Its a lot cheaper as a Citizen or Seiko and looks beside the nipple quite nice, so if you are in deep dive watches why not.
It has a distinctly Citizen look, doesn't it? Not a copy or anything like that, just the Citizen design language works. And, folks, and - the chapter ring lines up with the dial, the bezel lines up with the chapter ring and the seconds hits the mark all the way round! SEIKO ARE YOU LISTENING TO THIS??? I might nip over and see what the shipping to darkest Africa is

Love to see a racing chrono freedriver watch ... car speeding through a toll booth on the caseback 😉
It seems much smaller than I thought.
Nice and professional review like always- tks a lot! I wouldn’t have even noticed that brand.
My first impression on the diver on the back was, he urgently has to p… .
Greetings :)
Are they ISO certified, tested or are they just claiming their credentials and depth rating? Curious since the price seems so ridiculously low.
Good question! I will research fully for my full review. There is a cool story to tell about one of these watches and a shipwreck....
@@watchmewithwatches I think that story was about a Divex watch.... ?
Nice! Now if only my aqua tactical frog lined up perfectly like that.
It’s not wasted you can always wear it in the bathtub 😂
I have the mint green version but it has issues, firstly being green with green hands its eligible through the night,it has the worst bezel of any watch I own, the movement of the bezel is, even at this price is unacceptable and after wearing it to bed, every morning the bezel has moved All by itself,so hardly practical if you were actually using it for diving. The lume is ok if you point a torch at it for a few moments but barely lasts for half an hour, another reason for the eligibility.its a nice looking watch but flawed
Nice looking watch. ISO certified ?? Obviously not. 1000 metres, probably not ?? But who cares for less than a hundred quid ?
It’s a free diver once again lol but I would be willing to bet it will go that deep
Hi,
I have the Same Watch!🙂
I Like it.
what is this nipple thing at left side for ? :D - nice toy for people do their morning workout diving down Mariana Trench. Its a lot cheaper as a Citizen or Seiko and looks beside the nipple quite nice, so if you are in deep dive watches why not.
It’s a helium release valve as it says in the review
It has a distinctly Citizen look, doesn't it? Not a copy or anything like that, just the Citizen design language works. And, folks, and - the chapter ring lines up with the dial, the bezel lines up with the chapter ring and the seconds hits the mark all the way round! SEIKO ARE YOU LISTENING TO THIS???
I might nip over and see what the shipping to darkest Africa is
..... and the shipping was reasonable so I bought it. Great find Daniel, thanks a mil!
Free driver or free diver? Who cares?
I like it anyway 👊
If your going to buy a watch; buy once cry once
Dan , Dan , Dan… mate don’t be so hard on yourself for missing the obvious, this being a FREEDIVER! Then of course calling yourself an idiot! That’s our job! Idiot!🤪🤣 Very good watch for the money by the look of it!👍🏼
I have this watch under the name Tauchmeister. The bezel gets super weak. Wouldn't trust the depth rating AT ALL. No chance. It's junk and its quartz.
Shame about the bezel, as it feels so nice!
Hy-dro-mod.... Hy-dro-mod...!
Then it will have eleventy million metres resistance!
Freediving needs helium escape? Bogus
Unless you are aquaman?
Keep your over priced Rolex submariner or your nancy boy Omega seamaster, this beast will eat them alive!
Great value for money, and probably good for diving. Regards a watch, it is proper ugly
I would say, toolishly ugly
@@watchmewithwatches good point, but some tool divers aren't ugly, that one is. Anyway, good review as usual
First!
Hey Tony!
Save your money it is a piece of junk.....
It's quartz. NA.
Why don't you like quartz?
