    This is an amazing explanation! Really nice work! Are there any differences or concerns when using it to go downwind instead of upwind?

      thanks for your awesome comments... upwind is certainly easier. As you sail downwind, your apparent wind decreases so in low winds it can be a bit tricky. This requires good sail trim/wing-on-wing sailing.
