      Hello 👋🏻 from British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦 and Happy New Year! 🍹🥳 Ola. I Love your channel , guitar playing and your sense of humour! I’m a huge fan brother! loved the badass riff at the start of this vid ( anyone know if this is from a song or just a riff? ) and also Hello 👋🏻 to all at Laney Amps as well. A few years back just purely out of curiosity about the sound etc. because Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath uses Laney Amps, I bought a little Laney LX12 practice amp. I thought if Tony uses their gear they must sound good as I have always loved the sound and tone that he has. I have a number of different amps, 2 Marshall’s Valvestate 80V + MG 30 DFX, Peavy Studio Chorus 210 ,Roland DAC-15XD, Yamaha GA10 , and the mentioned Laney LX12. After I bought the Laney I took it home and plugged it in and was Not Disappointed in the least ! ( especially when you consider this thing is tiny!) I was immediately blown away at how great this thing sounds for such a small amp ! It sounds much bigger than you’d expect! Like a big amp with everything cranked up but running at a low volume I also have tons of pedals and other gear mostly Boss , a few MXR’s , and a Dunlop - DIME signature Cry Baby from Hell Wah and lots of other random stuff. I usually just run a very minimal setup through it though - Boss Metal Zone stacked with a Boss Hyper Metal and a Boss DD3 Digital Delay. That Laney sounds amazing for what it is! If someone is just getting started and needs a small 1st amp or even just needs a little amp to practice with grab one of these if you can. It’s a truly great little amp and after hearing for myself what that tiny LX12 can do… I have been able to test out a few bigger ones since buying the LX12… I absolutely have to get a new bigger amp from Laney ! These things are a Beast for metal style guitar ( but in case you are wondering they sound great fully clean as well) at the very least consider giving one a go ! … I’m just gonna go ahead and say … you’ll probably be taking it home ! 🤘🏻😄🎸😎 cheers guys 🍻 please take my money 😁, you make Great Amps !

  • @ordohereticus3427

    One of the best things about your older videos: more 7 string demos. It helps because if the amp is producing a tight tone even at lower guitar tunings, then that’s automatically good for those using higher tunings and six string guitars. I think you should always demo with both. Your old Ironheart video was gold just like this one.

    • @OlaEnglund
      @OlaEnglund  2 ปีที่แล้ว +85

      Yeah I just play way more 6-string nowadays. Thanks for the kind words.

    • @ericsmith6633
      @ericsmith6633 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Agree! That’s the whole reason I got into this channel in the beginning, was cause of the 7 string stuff he was doing. With the amps, and guitars. Agree 100%! I mean I still love the channel, but I get even more stoked when he does break out the 7s for amp demos

    I own this amp for quite a while, pretty much exact same settings as Ola. Some important points I noticed dialing it in:
    - lead channel is actually best suited for solo playing
    - the interaction between the watt poti (kinda master vol) and the channel volume is crucial for tight tone. Put one of them too high and it's muddy. I run pretty much Olas combination
    - an external boost like T808 or TS9 really tightens up the loseness of the power amp you described. I run it on all the time in boost mode (lvl max gain 0)
    - dont use the pre boost
    - the clean channel is pretty great aswell so this amp delivers even way beyound metal

      @@Traski The IRT Studio is the best you can buy for that money and not to forget: it has three channels like the big versions. Thats the big difference to the lunchbox version. And even for live purposes it's definitely loud enough. With some compression in front and eventually a booster (I use the TC Electronic Spark Booster) it's absolutely tight. I found my dream setting which works with every guitar I own. Without cab connected it has 1W and it's still responsive as hell. With good IRs you can totally control the gain with your volume knob like on a big amp. Don't know how they did that :D

    This used to be my go to amp before I moved. Great metal tone and also great cleans so it was good overall if I used pedals with it. I also used it in my apartment in high school thanks to the Watt knob. The versatility was insane!

    To me it sounds like a more flexible 5150 preamp combined with rectifier power amp. I own an Ironheart 60 and it's increadable. Also the Ironheart sls is a great small gigging amp. Recommend it to anyone

    I personally really liked the sound of the lead channel. To me it sounds more aggressive and just has more bite. Great vid as always!

    I owned a Laney Ironheart 60w as my first tube amp for years because of that original video. I loved it, but I've been going steady with the JP-2C for the last 5 years now.

    I truly regret having sold mine (120W + x4 Cabinet), one of the best amp I ever had.
    And back then, in 2012, I was hesitating with 2 others cabinet, your video convinced me to take it, I went to my local store, they had one, I tried it and ended up purchasing it :)
