    Welcome. I hope you will continue to feel good about living here and that people here will treat you with the kindness and respect that you deserve. You talked about the Christian presence here. I am sure you have heard about the international church in English in Filadelfia but just in case if you have not then check it out on a Sunday at 2PM.

    Great to see you again! Iceland does look beautiful! I absolutely love snow but sometimes in real life, weather can be challenging! My niece and her daughter were recently in Iceland and loved it! Please keep educating those of us that have never been. In my opinion, the more we learn about the world, the better for everyone!

    • @TabithaLaker
      @TabithaLaker  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Pearl! Nice that your niece and her daughter went. Iceland is abundant in beautiful nature. The weather is mostly challenging in winter and in summer if you struggle to sleep with too much daylight. More videos to come for sure :) I agree, the more we learn the better!

    Its true about the language thing, african parents should teach their children the mother tongue. Its best this happens before the child starts school. One reason for this is because african parents can speak english. The africans parents who teach kids their language are Somali’s, but i think its because the parents dont speak english & the kids are used to translate.

    • @TabithaLaker
      @TabithaLaker  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Exactly. Before a child starts school they can be spoken to in multiple languages and pick everything up. Children shouldn't be limited to just 1 language - The mother tongue should always come first, then any foreign languages after :)

      Yess you were right about our parents👆🏿my parents didn’t teach us twi our language but I plan to visit home in Africa myself and hopefully learn myself 😊

    • @rosietales
      @rosietales 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm saying this from my own experience with my family but I don't think kids should know their parents' mother tongue before school but during school because it's really easy for them to learn really fast and the kids might only talk the african language and stop talking english (I'm saying english even though it's not my first language). My mom refused to have me learning her mother tongue as a child but since she spoke it with her family I understood quite a lot and now I'm fluent in it. I think it is something that should 'compliment' skills instead of pushing into kids, just teach them a little at a time.

    • @ellajohnson2257
      @ellajohnson2257 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@rosietales Thats not quite true. A child will not get confused if they learn they mother tongue first when they start school. Its easier for toddlers to learn up to six languages due the way they brain absorbs information.

  • @Leif208

    To those of you who think all your problems will be solved by emmigrating to Iceland, think again. Even if you make every effort to integrate, you will never feel completely a part of Icelandic society. It's not because Icelanders are racist or because you didn't try hard to integrate. In European ethnic states, non-natives WILL ALWAYS be considered foriegners. Even your children and grandchildren. This will cause resentment among non native immigrants, especially the 2nd generation, and will feed an inferiority complex that will last for generations. These minority groups will then try to force acceptance by claiming systemic racism and demand government intervention (often financial, racial quotas, etc.). Instead of looking to escape your own native land, then try to change the country you've moved to, why not just make your native land the way you want it to be?

    • @TabithaLaker
      @TabithaLaker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing. Has this been your experience? In all my life of living in England, I've never referred to myself as only British. I am always a Ugandan first. The goal is not to become Icelandic. It's to live somewhere I love and can call home. Although there is truth in what you say, you do seem quite negative. It's quite sad actually. You need to escape this downcast mindset and set yourself free - instead of projecting misfortune for generations to come. Just because you see that in your life, that's not what others see in theirs. Allow black and foreign people to be free without all those heavy mental burdens.

    Loved your video and I'm so sorry you've experienced racist comments in these pages. Remember that these people are absolute losers. How anyone could fail to fall for you is beyond me. As to my beloved Iceland, my favorite place on Earth... there are two things I tell people. One, I kept thinking every day I was there that This Is How People Are Supposed to Treat Each Other... and two... in wandering around Iceland I felt a deep, profound, almost tangible feeling of euphoria. Of sheer bliss. Friends think I'm crazy of course... but I'll bet you know what I mean. Much happiness to you, from a US expat viewer in Thailand.

      lawal habeeb Please do not do that . If you go to Iceland on a tourist visa and then declare that you want to stay , you will most likely be deported. Do not waste your time and money. Talk to the closest Icelandic embassy to see if there are legal ways to immigrate .

    Again migrants not integrating, if you are immigrating there, just adopt the language and customs, that's the only way migration works, if you want to raise a child with your customs language, and culture then go to your country where you have to obey that culture and customs. If you go to another country then adopt the way of life of this new country.

    • @TabithaLaker
      @TabithaLaker  5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I think it's important to integrate but stay true to oneself.
