i know from interview of others that Jack Antonoff is a music producer. this is the first time i see him interviewed... didn't expect a gifted comedian as well.
Jack Antonoff on Romeo and Juliet: the music is “buzzy and low end” (is that music producer speak - I need a translator 😆) and he heard about the concept about a bunch of teens playing out R&J in a McMansion and he said he really got it and that it would be “sweaty and sad 😂.” I love Jack 💕. He’s so brilliant, but odd and quirky. I guess those often go together.
7:50 SPOILER ALERT - more than 2 people die, at least in the Shakespeare play. I recall the "tweet summary" (back when Twitter first came out, people were doing 144-character summaries of everything, it was an art form akin to haiku), something like: "When two foolish teenagers in medieval Italy are disloyal to their families, disobey their parents and succumb to carnal urges, tragedy results."
I didn't forget that they died. When Reader's Digest did condensed versions of things, I read that version. I went to the movie and I started crying at the moment they met. I did a dramatic reading of a portion of it in Speech class and cried through the entire thing. I got an A+ - for crying, I think. That was my best grade in Speech class.
I like how the haters commenting are commenting how his producing for Taylor and others is lame... Meanwhile I'm over here thinking I wish he would focus just a little more so we could get more Bleachers songs. I do dig Melodrama tho...

Thus making for better television. This guy co-produces pop music and can barely hold a thought in his mind (let alone get it out without excessive use of the word 'like.') The difference is night & day, people. This Jack Mehoff guy should be behind a desk at Bank of America.
