(Formerly Ribble) I was born in 1978, when Jimmy Carter was our USA President!! Also, my (late) Mother Rose, used to sell AVON. She did quite well at it. It was her only income during the time in which she sold it.
Mum bought the Moonwind collection, someone gave me Delicate Daisies as a present - I'd forgotten all about this until I watched your video - thanks

This was the Avon of my youth. I remember so many of these products and had many. Loved it when the Avon lady came, time to sit down, relax and shop and see the latest demo.

My first aftershave as a kid was Avon in a baseball glove decanter. I have a few now in my collection. Still have the aftershaves in them! My favorite is Tai Winds.

Was reminiscing as you showed this catalog. A lady in the office would circulate the Avon catalog. I would buy the hand cream. Lol.
I had Delicate Daisies when I was a kid. I recently bought some from eBay for my collection. I think I had that ice cream comb too. :)

Sweet Honesty was the first perfume I owned, at 13. The bottle was a little girl in a dress jumping with a skipping rope.

That rabbit pendant had slightly movable ears, I had that necklace! Wish I could find it again. There was also a tiny cloisonne bluebird pendant I just loved and would like to see again.

The Sweet Honesty tube is a Demi Stick, and its a roll up Solid perfume. The round pots in all of the fragrances is Perfumed Skin Softener, and the little glass jars are the cream sachet.

i remember the bride and groom mouse and honeysuckle cream jars , my mother gave me as a child.
I have old bottles of Moonwind, Occur, Charisma, and most of Avon's fragrances age gracefully, I wear mine.

I love the perfumed liquid deodorant, it is a floral scent, I still use it. They used to have it in lilac, wish they would bring it back!

I still have the jade ring…the gold is a bit tarnished… I have all of the figurine perfume bottles…I might be missing the hoop or crook…my sister sold Avon for years…
I'd forgotten all about the fuzzy bear perfume bottle!! I had that terrier dog with topaz perfume...and the fawn...and the frog, but my favorite was the skunk. I still have him.
They are collectible. You were wise to have saved them!
My mom used to wear Candid.
Avon still sells Candid. It was re-released a few years ago - a long with a few other classics like Night Magic and Sweet Honesty.

Aqui no Brasil, uma empresa chamada natura comprou a Avon, e além dos produtos ficarem com um valor mais alto, a qualidade das fragrâncias não são mais como antigamente 😔
It makes me so sad what Avon has become in recent years. It was so much more than just a cosmetics company. Missing the way it used to be is about more than just being bummed out over my favorite products being discontinued. When my cousin turned 16 I got her a big Avon collection and wrote to her all about the things Avon did to empower women and help the community. Now it’s like, $300 for a face cream? And they barely carry their own stuff anymore 🥺
I miss the old Avon, too. Avon has new owners now. But the company still makes great products! I use many of them myself.

Hi there, Carmencita. Thank you for your feedback. It helps to know what people are thinking. I know what you mean, but prices have gone up on everything. Even fast food and groceries. Avon is still more affordable than department store cosmetics, and the quality is just as good. Please sigh up for my mailing list if you haven't already signed up. That way you will know when Avon has sales and other special offers such as free shipping. It's always has free shipping when you spend $60 or more, but from time to time Avon has free shipping on orders than are $25.
Avon also sells cleaning supplies and clothing--just to name a few things. So, you can always plan ahead and stock up on what you need --and place one big order. That way you can save money (and not pay for shipping if spend $60 or more).
there was so much in abundance to purchase from Avon. Now it's skimpy and I was horrified to see that they were trying to sell ramen noddle's and all this Korean stuff just totally turned me off.
It's because Avon changed ownership. I am not an expert on this, but I think it would be very expensive to produce the bottle designs and decanters than Avon made long ago. It would be cost-prohibitive. I don't know if you noticed or not, but some companies like Estee Lauder stopped making the older, unique bottle designs and started using the same generic style for every fragrance. And our economy isn't so hot right now, so I guess that's another factor. But thank you for sharing your thoughts. I understand what you mean.
Avon still makes great products and the company is always coming out with new things, so don't get discouraged. I love Rare Pearls (the original version) and the Haiku line. Those are true gems.
And i don't think the new owners have the same vision that the original owners did. Avon was producing decanters that looked like things people used 100 years prior to that--things like antique cars, phones, etc. All of that stuff was invented around the same time the Avon company was founded (it was first called the California Perfume Co. until the name was chanted to Avon). Avon celebrated its 100th birthday in 1986, and i think that's the reason why it was producing all of those old-fashioned themed decanters back then. Its new owners seem to favor a more modern style. I don't necessarily like it better, but it is what it is.
